All Minis (classic or otherwise) made after '94 were made by a German company (BMW).

The Red Bull X2010 was designed by PD with technical input from Adrian Newey. Despite him working for an Austrian company the design work was undertaken by a Japanese company.

Is this a good time to bring up Bugatti? They haven't been French for a long time... they're in German hands now, of course.

Ok sir answer me this then why is the MG TF160 I think it is Labelled I assume as British if they were also under the control of BMW at that time :), My friend Steve has a Rover 75 (Made when Rover was BMW controlled) Its still a British car, Your logic is flawed in the respects of the owners take the rights to name the car from the respective country, Nissan is owned by Renault but the Nissan GT-R isnt labelled as french, Jaguar are owned by TATA Motors from India no less but it isnt classed as an Indian manufacturer :)

the x1 is was designed by a british guy for the red bull team who are based in milton keynes in the uk , even though there an autrian team there headquarters are in the uk

Their headquarters are in Fuschl am See, Austria....

The fact that the company is recognized as Red Bull GmbH should tell you they are not a United Kingdom company. The area you are referring to belongs Red Bull Racing which is a branch of the Red Bull company.

Thank you for calling me sir... it reminds me of a particularly sarcastic class of Year 8s with whom I was once blessed. I'll take your points in reverse, rather like their learning.

Jaguar IS classed now as an Indian manufacturer - I'm not sure that any of the Indian-era cars are in game though.

Nissan isn't owned by Renault, they are part of a construction alliance and share a CEO. That's not the same thing. Even if they WERE owned by Renault their cars would still be Japanese in the same way that GM-Vauxhall cars are British, GM-Opel cars are German, GM-Holden cars are Australian and so on.

Only two years-worth of Rover 75s were made under BMW ownership - by 2000 BMW had entirely split (and sub-acquired) the Mini brand/design and ditched the rest of the group. The Rover 75 was made by the Rover Group. Cars from 98/99 are technically German. It's interesting that you mentioned Tata, they actually own the Rover brand now. Naanjing simply bought the designs and toolings for the Rover (now Roewe) range.

As for the MG TF, your assumption is wrong. This wasn't released until long after BMW had ditched the Rover group.

There certainly ARE inconsistencies in GT5's national assignations of brand, I'm just pointing out some of the definite facts. Your point about the Rover 75 interests me - I know the first two years of the Rover 75 were German cars... I just can't get my head to accept it :D

Well the Red Bull F1 team is based in the UK, but Red Bull itself is an Austrian brand. The F1 team has the national anthem of Austria played when the car wins so I would probably say the car is Austrian, even if it were not likely to be built there. Of course, it's impossible to answer as the car hasn't been built anyway.

Just trying to get my head round this...

Is the Red Bull RB6 an Austrian car or a British car, is the Mercedes W01 a British car or a German car and is the Force India F1 car an Indian car or a British car.

For F1 purposes the cars are assigned the nationality of their teams - regardless of where (or by whom) they are built.

The above cars are all constructed in the UK and rely heavily on UK engineering talent - but the Red Bull remains Austrian, the Merc is German and the Force India is Japanese*

*Only kidding, obviously it's Indian :D

Then why am I allowed to enter it in the super GT series where the qualifications to enter is that it has to be Japanese?

The answer to your question is this: it is only a game which has flaws
and another answer: it's one of those flaws which let you bring another completely different car into a race. Like i brought a Chevy SSR into the compact car race cup and its not even a small car in fact it is an SUV. So with that said i hope you get the point.
Once again it is only a game which isn't perfect.

That logic does not work. The Nomad Diablo is a SuperGT car yet it is not eligible whilst the the older Nissan R92CP is and never was around for the series.
The Nomad also doesn't count as a Lamborghini (even though that's the listed manufacturer), so I'm not quite sure what they're using to qualify all these cars.

The Lexus in the German championship is another one. According to the car's description, they included it there because it was commonly believed that the car had been designed with DTM in mind, even though it never made it to production. Which makes the exclusion of the Nomad from the SuperGT races even more confusing.

Well regarding the Nomad Diablo, its not suppose to exist in Gran Turismo! It was just an extra car in GT3 that PD didn't want to include in the final game (just as the Porsche 996 GT3), and can only be gotten through hacking. So I think they just included the Diablo just to fill the game up, and apart from texture updates, hasn't updated any info on the car since GT3...

Also, if the X1 is not Japanese can it enter the DTM, European or American race? If not, then its Japanese inside GT5 regardless of what other people might say...

It is not real even have the design input from a British, named or licensed with an Austrian company, test drive by a German. But all and all you can only get it from GT5. GT is from Japan. So it is Japanese... If no GT5, there will be no Red Bull X2010.

This car is an actual prototype, ok, it probably does'nt drive that good without the engine and a brave enough driver. However, the Red Bull team helped PD to make this car. In GT5 it might be Japanese, but in the real world, I'd say it is a Brittish/Austrian car. As the BMW/McLaren Race car is a Brittish/German Car.. Or Mercedes/McLaren F1 Team for that matter.

The whole issue of car nationality is irrelevant anyway, most cars are international nowadays. The BMW MINI is built in Britain but uses a French Peugeot engine and is owned by the German BMW. The Mercedes-Mclaren SLR is based on a German Mercedes but built in Britain by Mclaren. The Aston Martin Rapide is developed in Britain, built in Austria and owned by foreign shareholders. The Red-Bull X1/X2010 is designed by a British man working for an Austrian company based on an idea by a Japanese game developer. No car can be labeled as being a certain nationality anymore.

In the game however, the X1/X2010 is apparently categorised as being Japanese, so we'll have to accept that and move on unless PD suddenly changes the car to being categorised as Austrian or British.

Good point. 👍 But do you actually think that PD had the knowledge to pull something like this of? Yes, they did have an idea, but Red Bull already had it before.. It is what F1 racing is all about.. Science and egineering. There is no way PD was ahead of the F1 World champions team Red Bull as far as technology and future of racing. PD had an idea, and they turned to Red Bull, where the knowledge is being held. Thing is that this car actually could exist if it was a championship to enter with it. But with no economy in it, why should Red Bull do it? I really do'nt think that a gamedeveloper can be a manufachtor.. But in GT5 I can exept it being Japanese, but in real world, no.

Happy newyears by the way!

Redbull F1 cars have Renault engines, so I'd say it's French/Austrian. And I'd say the Vettel version would have to be German/French/Austrian.

X1 was designed by Red Bull. They are based in Britain, but are Austrian. However, in the if the engine that is designed/used is from a different country, the car will be from that country. Take the McLaren F1 GTR Race Car. It is a British car, but has a BMW engine, so in the game it's German...

So I'm guessing that PD designed the engine? Making the car Japanese?

Ok so then here is what it is:

A Japanese, Austrian, British, Parts Unknown car with technology from every major country that somehow has a Canadian version.

So that makes it an American car by default =)

No, it's not. Logic would show it's Austrian.

1. PD is not a car manufacturer.
2. What the game allows is irrelevant. IIRC, there are a few events that allow cars that normally should not be in them.
3. The game recognizes it as a Red Bull X2010. The "Gran Turismo" in front of it means nothing; a 350Z & Ford GT model have GT in front of it, too.

If PD doesn't qualify as a manufacturer, does an energy drink company? Adrian Newey doesn't work for Red Bull. He works for Red Bull Racing. Red Bull Racing is headquartered in Milton Keynes (as everyone on this page seems to have understood) in the UK and all their development and F1 support is handled there.

I disagree with how the car is characterized, but your own argument emphasized the manufacturer, which is not in Austria.

Your logic fails.

RBR is still recognized as an Austrian team b/c they are owned by Austrians. Being based in the UK doesn't mean anything. Otherwise, BMW Z4s would have been American cars, because their development & production was handled in South Carolina, despite being built & produced by a German based company.

It's Gran Turismo creation so Japanese.

The X1 was designed by Red Bull Racing, a British company, thier base is Milton Keynes UK.

If the Red Bull X1 was ever built it would be here in the UK, making it British.

LOL What a stupidity! Toyota F1 was German then??

Red Bull is austrian and so it is Red Bull Racing. But the car was made by Gran Turismo Team with the designs of Adrian Newey, but this doesn't mean anything. GT created it.
