Today I finished the Group C memories 24 hours of Le Mans in the power pack. Took me six days, but I got there in the end.

Spending A LOT of time in Sophy custom races putting together my own GT4 championship and I'm at the point where the races are ridiculously good. Like, REALLY good. So many tricks go into making the AI extremely competitive, but oh man is it worth it. When you can do a 1 hour race and it takes you nearly that long to climb from mid pack to the lead. 😍 Hopefully some day the basic AI in GT will be this good...

Nothing yet... I have 1h30 left before midnight

Edit:

tried to Gold the Espace F1 on Yas, still stuck at Silver... Really couldn't do any better...

Oh well $1M and completed my daily workout right before bedtime.

I was doing WTC 700 Le Mans and thought to myself: "I can't believe that I haven't gotten "Running On Empty" trophy yet."

Then, as if the universe was laughing at me, I forgot to go into the pits with 0.7 laps of fuel left. Cue me saying "Screw it. I'm getting that trophy. might as well."

I won a Stage 5 Weight Reduction for the GR Supra '19 and so I took it out for a spin at Fuji.

The Supra's 8-speed gearbox coupled with the recent addition of downshift protection to GT7 made every corner a new adventure.

Turn 1 was especially fun - braking from top gear and not knowing whether any particular downshift actually happened meant that I was in serious danger of an impromptu trip into the Nakahinata hills - I've always wanted to see more of Japan.

I'm more perplexed by the 8-speed gearbox than anything else though - what used to be a straightforward choice between dropping down to 1st or staying in 2nd is now a bewildering cornucopia of numbers - 3,4,5...6? - and the downshift protection just added to the excitement... 5th? No, you're still in 6th! 4th? No, you're still in 6th - oh, and you're also in the gravel too. But for the downshift protection, however, being in 4th gear would be a fleeting, 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' experience. It's all a bit too much for my brain.

-

On the up side, however, it's only really road cars and other cars I don't use often that pose an issue for me with the downshift protection - F1, Gr.1, GT3 and other cars that I'm used to all seem pretty much perfect, and it's reassuring that I'm not that much of an incompetent old duffer that I can't even work a flappy paddle gearbox any more.

My weapon of choice in the Le Mans 30 minute PP700 race is the engine-swapped BAC Mono limited to INTERMEDIATE tyres. I figure that if they don't wear out too fast, I'm always ready for bad weather.

Again and again it proved itself on a wet track, with a single pit stop after 3 laps, but a question remained. Will the IM tyres wear out in the 4 lap stint if there is no rain?

Yesterday gave me the answer. Running lean fuel and being kind to the tyres, it romped home on a single tyre change in an absolute drought!

PS Such a rewarding cockpit experience

My son pointed out a purple C8 Z06 and I decided to endeavor to recreate it in GT7. I think the purple I chose was too bright and I might need to pick a slightly different shade. TGit 2nd login bonus. Did 2 of the WC races got a 5 ⭐ 🎟️ for the daily marathon.

Forgot to post this on the day.

Ran a WTC700 at DTG in the GP-Tuned Hakosuka.

Wasn’t bad. I only dropped the suspension a further 10 mm front and rear for a better look and stiffened springs to 3.0 f/r, ARB 5/5. Has good acceleration due to its light weight and the stock gearing worked well everywhere. Held its own in the corners and the dampening over curbs was perfect. It’s the touch of PD purpose built cars over players building cars.

Fuel economy was great with the racing fuel tank. Shifting at 8000 rpm, I ran 7 laps and was up to 11th place. Light rain happened mid-race and didn’t need to make an extra stop. I was on the stock RH, but Supra and Cayman were on RS. Cayman made a second stop and overtook me coming out of the pits. Maybe I’ll try RS to move me closer to the front, but I was just having fun using the Hakosuka. Good stuff!

On the subject of the purple C8, since I'm always up for such challenges, I enlisted the help of ChatGPT. It thinks the color you're referring to is "Hysteria Purple Metallic", paint code WA134H.

It goes on to suggest that the color is reproducible as a Metallic H257, S55, V35 as below

ChatGPT goes on to say:-

Tune it like a paint code
Check it in a bright sun replay or Scapes, then adjust:
• Too purple/grape: move hue down toward 250–254° (more blue).
• Too blue/navy: move hue up toward 260–265° (more violet).
• Too dark (common in GT7): raise brightness to 40–45%.
• Too neon: drop saturation toward 45–50%.

I hope this might help fine tune the color

Thanks that looks like the color. I can play around with it

I have two weeks off work starting today therefore I finally had time to try out the new Spec III content.

Per usual I bought all the new cars and took the 296 GTB to Yas Marina first since it‘s one of my favorite cars. I was really looking forward to driving it and I wasn‘t disappointed: On top of looking gorgeous the car’s ridiculously quick and the brakes are probably the best in any road car besides the 992 Porsche GT3 RS. I absolutely love it!

I‘m looking forward to driving the other cars, trying Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and making more liveries!

I swear every major „Spec“ update makes me fall in love with the game all over again.

The rabbit hole you sent me down was deep. And rewarding. One of the many resources that ChatGPT unearthed was this reference document which, along with some great livery advice, contains 27 PAGES of HSV equivalents to Real Car Paint colors.

Given the difficulty of matching decals to Real Car Paint (which the author discusses in detail), I'm thinking it may be better to use the free HSV version instead and thus be able to match the decals more accurately and with less effort.

PS I liked the process that ChatGPT used to get your purple. It looked for the official name of the paint based on "purple" plus the car model, then searched for photos based on that paint name, then sampled the color from the photos, then used Python code to determine the HSV values. It took a while!

I do not doubt that the Panda would benefit from some extra "Aerodynamic efficiency". However, I'm failing to understand how this might be achieved by making his bones more rigid 🤔

I figured the Gr.1 prototype race at Yas Marina would be the hardest of the weekly races, so I tackled that first. I came in second in spite of a major booboo, so I figure I could win it with medium tires instead of the hard compound I used. That gave me the daily mileage and my horrendous 10,000 cr. Then to my surprise I got gold in the time trial (at Brands Hatch) with the rather snappy FTO in my second attempt.

I tried the 1st set of colors you suggested and I ended up adjusting it a little bit and this is what I came up with

I also took the Espace to LeMans. I was able to get almost 4 laps out it. On that 4th lap I went to the pit stop on fumes. It was still a fun drive at 700 pp but I think prefer it at sock pp

I cleared the rest of the weekly events because I figured I won't have much time later in the weekend (family is visiting for the Holidays). 200 and 500k bonuses are nice, and for the daily mileage ticket.... ah, a random piece of equipment of a car I don't own.

I drove the Ford GT and the MC20. The Ford GT is track ready out of the box, but the Maserati is a bit softer for my taste, more like a luxury GT. I will put it on a diet.

Today I waltzed into the LCD and bought a Pontiac GTO Judge! a lovely blue example with goldy Pinstriping. Some subtle mods (wheels, wing, lip) and it looks cool to dominate, burnout and go, little tune here and there up to 809bhp and blastted it around Tsukuba for a run -in.

Threw another 2 hours into Le Mans Group C 24 in the DLC. Down to 8 hours or so to go. Solid 2 laps on 2nd and 3rd, no rain in sight, nobody else within 4 laps.

Going to try to push hard through the daylight to add another lap to 2nd. Race has been in the bag since hour 3 really, the other 21 are merely formalities. Using the 1 Chili Nissan, controller, automatic transmission, bumper cam.
