I think it is going to take some time to basically unlearn how I've been playing the game with a controller - not easy since that is basically 25 years' worth

As a long time Logitech wheel user, I was surprised that I had to relearn how to take turns with the Fanatec DD Pro. It didn't take too long to get dialed in, but that was an eye opener. A slight reminder of what my own wheel conversion from controllers was like back in the Daytona, Sega Rally and GT2 days.

On the Plus account, I took the 730PP-tuned Corvette Gr.3 to a rainy Fuji, slapped some full-wet tires on it, and proceeded to try a FM6/no-stop race. It worked out rather well in the start as cars kept on coming down for intermediates and fuel even as the skies continued to open up. Then on lap 7, the rain stopped as I took the lead, and the track started drying in a hurry. By the end of lap 9, it was dry enough that most of the other front-runners came back down for soft tires, but Miyazono stayed out. That, and the fact I still had an estimated 2 laps of fuel, caused me to turn up the wick to FM4, and still he caught me by turn 13. I turned up the fuel to FM1 as I still had fuel to spare, and outraced him down the straight for a 1-second win.

The 3-star marathon gave me the usual low-cash 5,000 Cr., which makes 12 straight days of the low-cash prize, and 6 straight with the lowest-possible cash amount. With only various races at Tokyo to get 1st places in, I'm well short of having the cash to get a VGT and a Gr.1 to finish the expanded menu books.

On the GTP account, did the Tokyo grind, got the low-cash/lowest-possible-cash 5,000 Cr./2-star Wheel of Despair, went to Hagerty's to pick up the DB3S.

I finally, after like three weeks of on/off attempts, completed the Nordschleife gold circuit experience. What a rush. I was only a couple tenths off the gold time in what felt like a pretty sloppy lap, but a couple good corners can make all the difference. I was actually on track in the prior run to beat it by a half second but then forgot to brake and smashed the wall on the second last corner. So it goes. But the more circuit experiences I do, the more I've come to love the driving model. I can't really speak to how realistic it is, but it feels deep, and it's so satisfying to improve incrementally.

Then later, feeling high and mighty, I took the same BMW to the Suzuka daily race and promptly finished in second-last and then 11th after qualifying in third and fifth respectively. My C rating is hanging on by the tiniest thread, and even though I rarely get penalties, I can't seem to do a clean race to save my life; too many wide turns under pressure.

Today saw the debut of the (almost) new Mercedes CLK Lm at Spa francourchamp. Well, absolutely destroyed the field. Stable as anything, even on wets. Even able to sit for 45 seconds before the finish line on the last lap, so as not to have to complete another. Unprofessional I know but there you go. Next up for the Mercedes was Sardegna. Again, what a beast this car is, smashed the field, laps of 1:41*. I thought "there are sub 1:40 in this car, if I can drive it well enough". So, tried again. Managed 1:40:3*. Missed a few apexes trying too hard.. It'll do it I'm sure.
Next saw the Aston Martin Vulcan at Le Mans. Not quite fuel friendly, but has the pace to win. Skittish on wets if you push too hard, but a decent drive all told.
Ticket got us 5,000 credits. I'd rather have had the invitation to Bugatti...
 
Day one last night of my week long immersion in Porsche automobiles. I took two of my custom Gr4 911's and raced the WTC 700pp Championship. The 996 was terrible and I don't recall it being so bad when I first built it. It had really bad snap-oversteer on turn in and braking. I guess when I built it I figured out a way to drive it but I thought there has to be a better way.

I decided it was time to get old school. Back in the day, with GT1 up to GT4, I would use a notebook and log all of my tunes, my wins, my losses and any changes with the result. Those books became great references. I guess with GT5 to Sport I just jotted down notes as needed but gave up on the log books of old. So last night I rolled out a fresh notebook and got busy. (Cue the music)

I wrote down the tune of each of the cars I was going to drive. Raced my three 997's in road car trim, each with a different pp, and won St Croix Schwarzwald race easily in each. Made notes.

Jumped in the 997 Gr4 car I built and it was sublime, easy win on same race. Fiddled with the 996, and with some ballast and weight transfer, a shock tune, it was magic. Made notes.

Ended the night with all five cars capable of winning the St Croix race and after a couple hours of fun I finally felt like I found a bit of the magic that the GT games originally had. Just me, a great car, and furious note taking, all allowing minutes of the clock to fly by and finding myself lost in the game a couple of hours later. It was awesome!

So tonight I unleash the two Gr4 cars at Lemans for the 30min 700pp race and get redemption in the WTC 700pp Championship race with the 996. If I have time I will take my favorite 997, the 600pp build, and go out hunting other 600pp cars in various races.

It's the week of Porsche!

3 days with the Sardegna track, tried it with the R18 hybrid, ran out of juice 6-7 laps into the race, 3rd place, but a nice race where i had to keep it cool to even make it to 3rd.

Bought the super expensive GR1 Porsche, runs out of juice fast, but at least it re-charges a bit during braking to make it a tad easier to get out of the corners, fast. Drives like on rails, so pleasant to drive, and it does 15 laps without refueling.. 1st place.

Brought out the GR3 Porsche, stock, i think no tunes at least. Decided to go for 2 pit stops, possible with FM1. First stop i went for medium.. hahaha they are like soft tires in GT-Sport, they were gone after 4 laps. Pitted for hards and fuel with 6 laps left (FM2 for a few laps). 5th place but i did try to hard. Don't expect to find 30+ seconds in a 2nd try without going for 1 stop.

Open for suggestions for the next car i should try, preferable a car i won't have to nerf to much to reach 800PP
 
Had a quicky playthrough for about an hour, tried to do the LE-mans race with my setup of the MAZDA LM55 VGT car, was doing pretty well till the race got dark and almost bailed the car a few times. I think i got bronze in it so it not so bad.

Then moved onto other missons and finally nailed the VIPER drift challenge and got gold in it. Was well chuffed, i managed to randomly get the perfect drift line and scored like 8,083 which was cool.

Then some more little races, thst Fuji Speedway wet race WTC 800 is so tricky! More runs and practice with MAZDA's to get this one.

Also why do I feel so slow on the online Le mans time trial. I milking it down the mulsanne straight and corners lol, how did that one guy get a 3:10min lap time??? Is he an inhuman??

Just did my daily km's again and bought two cars in the Legendary Dealer.

Hate to say it, but GT7 is not my priority for now. Enjoying F1 2021 for the time being, and i want that game Platium before the release of the 2022 version.
 
Well damn. I know I am one of the serial complainers regarding the state of the game and its singleplayer content. I do want more, But....

Last night I setup a custom race on the Nurburgring 24hr. 10 laps. Just me in my Gr.3 GT-R against a Gr.1 car on professional difficulty. Starting in the afternoon with 10x time. I threw in a bit of custom weather, turned off the HUD and just drove. Needless to say this was not a race as the Gr.1 car just disappeared over the horizon quickly, never to be seen again. I just drove. Enjoying all of the scenery as the sun went down and the weather subtly changed. It was pure immersion.

Im sure we all have those special gaming moments over the years that will live on. This was one of those for me. It was relaxing, fun, and completely stress free. So much so that I popped on some background music. After the 10 laps was up, I could have easily done another 10 but I had to go to bed because damn work.

Now im at work and I just wnat to go home and do 20 laps in my Gr.3 GT-R as the sun goes down.
 
A number of Group 3 daily endurance races at Suzuka. In the penultimate one I was running about 5th hoping to make up a place or two. I'm using a wheel but have my headphones hooked up via cable to the wireless controller. The cable caught on my water bottle and sent that and the attached controller clattering to the floor. As I tried to catch them I steered off the straight and spun. Finished the race after losing a couple of places. Being ripped so rudely back into the real world caused me to reevaluate my course in life. I started a redemption race 5 minutes later.
 
Today, I only had an hour or so, so the Mazda Lm55 VGT gr1 went to Spa and stayed on FM1 all race. Finally got sub 2:17 laps. Might be a bit more in it, I think. Rained for under a lap. Started as I rounded bus stop, but had stopped before the lap finished.
A 3 star ticket of despondency gave up a Mercedes A45 AMG.... Absolutely shocked that I just didn't get the low credit prize.
Yet again, Honest Tony had nothing new in Used Cars. It's getting rather frustrating now.....
That Hagerty bloke sold me a Ferrari 365 GTB4..... I'll never be a rich man....
 
I tried the GR1 cafe tickets finally. I'd been putting it off after reading peoples struggles.
I went to Daytona road track (Surely there's no rain) and went to pick a car. My Tomahawk road car was only a few PP over so I de-tuned the engine a bit and drove that. A couple of laps to sort the braking points on the infield and I was doing fine. I won in the end and lapped a couple of cars. Got a 4* ticket for my efforts and 100,000cr

Then went and did some sport races around Trial Mountain reverse in my Subaru GR4 car. No where near winning but had some fun and clean battles with the cars around me.
 
Tweaked my 787B a bit so it wouldn't be as understeery above 145mph.
Got all Gold on the Laguna Seca CE, that cork screw still throws me for a loop even though I've done it countless times on both GT and Forza :p
And painted the last of my AE86 clones, almost done with the Best Motoring/Hot Version collection of vehicles

I was right. No extra turbo on mine. 50Kg ballast and ECU at 91, power restrictor is at 100. Gives me 532BHP and 799.95PP, I'm nearly 120Kg lighter than you at 990Kg. That'll make for better acceleration, braking, cornering etc.

Give it a try, think you'll find it much more nimble in the corners.

Tried your setup and worked well 😁 You're right as it's better through the corners and even though I had less horses but also less weight, best lap time was 2 seconds better then with old setup, managed a 3:51:X now 🙂

Also got a 1 star daily with an epic 5k credit reward today 🤣 rolling in the cash 😂

My week of immersion in Porsche automobiles continues.

I ran the Le Mans 700pp race with my custom built 997 Gr4 car and won without too much issue.

I tried to back that win up with my custom 996 Gr4 car and not so easy, in fact, not possible. The car is NA and only 412hp. The tank is too small to make 3 lap intervals and take time out of the leaders so I tried 2 lap intervals and although quicker I needed a top up and lost the lead. Will need to figure this car out, I feel like I'm missing something but I like the challenge so it will stay NA and I will figure out a strategy.

I then tried to win the Sardengia 800pp race with my RSR Gr3 but in stock form it was just not quick enough. Put on a medium turbo and detuned it slightly. no problem, got the win.

I think tonight will be a 964 street car shakedown and then enjoy some races with my 962.

Ran a few Daily Bs. Started SR A with the intention of getting back to SR S. Failed.

Run 1 went okay. 12th to 5th. Got caught up in lap 1 turn 1 shenanigans though. Post race lobby and plenty of trash talk directed to one racer...

Run 2 was a little frustrating. 12th to 8th by lap 3, saw a "Crusty" racer in an orange Jaguar F-Type side swipe someone on the horizon. Lap 4 and I was in his slip on the start straight and passed him in the following corners. Later on he was in my slip on the long back straight but didn't get by. After the next left, he was just behind me approaching the braking zone... and decided he could get enough contact to spin me out. Approaching a braking zone on a left turn, replay footage shows him turning hard right into my rear quarter to spin me. No penalties issued. Post lobby my SR has dropped to B... I don't know why.

Do some qualifiers and start Run 3 in 4th, orange F-Type is 3rd. Turn 1 and the driver in 5th launches F-Type across the track. No intention of stopping, clearly intentional. People do not like the orange F-Type racer and I can understand why. I slip through, someone else manages to as well. Run the whole race in 4th, at one point I cut too much corner and got a 1 second penalty, otherwise would have been 3rd.
 
Won the Only race in the game, that I had not won, Porsche Cup at the ring, Taycan Turbo S '19 "electric) with inters on, caught the leader just before the last corner in the rain, he was struggling in the wet, at last all done. (races), golded a couple of license tests that where not golds. that is all for today.

Hi, Just had a look and a mess about with my CLK, not tried yet, but pp799.97, 539hp & 990Kg, I'd like to try it tonight, but have to be up early, so test tomorrow.
 
Entered sport mode race c because for once the schedule fit perfectly when I turned on the game.

The thing with the 90s online system PD is using is that you in the extreme case will have to wait 29 minutes for a race, pretty special in today's modern online games.

Yeah and there I was in the pits on wet tires. The few GR3 cars i have doesn't have medium tires but a few does have wets and inters, so I basically entered the race on full wets with zery tires for the dry track.

Then it's just 30 minutes until next race and buy medium tires for all my GR3 cars. Good thing I got 2000 credits from the wheel of misfortune.

So instead I did 2 730PP spa races at spa in the Eco Boost car. Got 2nd and 1st in ok races.

After the 2000 credits from the trolling wheel I felt anger and closed the game.
