What did you do in GT7 today?

Spent my brief time with GT7 today buying and racing around in S15 Silvias. Very happy to have it back in GT7. Leaving it out in GT Sport was a mistake.

I also did a 15-minute custom race at Le Mans with my GT-R Nismo grip monster with a torrential rainfall set to come in the final minutes. Pitted for inters on the final lap and regretted it. I really should’ve gone for wets, but it is instinct to slap the inters on considering how many times I’ve done the WTC700 race.
Really hope the S14 comes back

I drove my 964 and with a couple of sessions I was able to put a great set-up on it. I tried the Tokyo 12 lapper and finished second and third. If I can avoid an error or not get punted into the wall by the Ai, I think I can win the race with this car.

Tried to race my 962 but the only races it is good for are the Gr1 races and in stock form it's far too slow. Would be nice it they created a Group C race series, that would be fun.

Finally I took my 911 GT1 street car and turned some laps in it. Great car even with with no mods.

Tonight I want to race the GT1 at Le Sarthe and maybe try the Tokyo 12 lapper again again with the 964. My week of immersion in Porsche's is coming to a close. Still need to race the 917 Living Legend and my two 356's to round out the work week. I think Saturday and Sunday will be back to coupes with my 997 and 991 600pp build at Tokyo for the 12 lapper and the Scwarzwald races.

I'm crossing my fingers PD has some themed races up their sleeves. That Group C daily race a few weeks back tells me they have the coding down for putting up an event with just the Group C chonkers.

So, today was Custom Race Day.
I don’t know but I think I’ve found my new Playground.
I had so much Fun setting up some Scenarios it was beyond anything I experienced so far in GT7.
I have completed almost every SP Stuff and Race and to be honest it wasn’t the Uber Challenge.
But when I set up my Custom Settings this Game becomes a true Challenge and finally comes alive and can shine.
The AI is just incredibly Fair and fast, no way I can win anymore.
It’s keeping me on my toes throughout the whole Race.
It’s exciting until the final Lap.
That’s what I want.
Fair and Competitive Racing.

On the evening Plus account, after some trial and error (and adapting Exeter's tune for the Focus Gr.B by deleting the mid-range turbo), I took the Gr.B Tokyo race with said Focus Gr.B. I then grabbed the Evo IV for the Clubman Plus race, and held on for a win over a hopped-up Beetle, and took my low-cash/lowest-possible-cash 3-star/5,000 Cr. lump. That leaves the WTC 600 races at Tokyo and Menu Books 40 and 41 undone/unwon.

I decided on the Mazda LM55 VGT Gr.1 for the last menu books, based on YouTuber Unleashed Drivers' experience. I bought the tuning parts (plus intermediates and wets for Suzuka) and did the tuning (had to cut the power some to get them under the PP limits), but the races will wait until tomorrow or the weekend.

Retried getting my SR back to S doing Daily B races. Started at SR B.

Race 1. Lap 1. Worked around turn 1 okay, but turn 4 (up the hill to the left-right) switch was a mess. A twonk behind in a lambo didn't appear to understand that if there are cars infront, you may need to brake to avoid them, result was a bunch of us crashing into eachother as twonk tried to force his way through. Started 4th, finished 4th.

Race 2. SR up to A and the crusty orange Jaguar F-Type was in the lobby. Pre-race and people are already trash talking them. Race kicks off and F-Type doesn't survive the first left and right. I started 9th in the race but was 4th coming out of the corners due to everyone crashing or being crashed by F-Type. Lap 4 and someone in a WRX decides to brake check me on the back straight while I was gaining due to being in their slip. I don't think much of it, aside from it being annoying and a dumb tactic. Finished 5th and... SR B.

Now I'm considering if hard contact penalizes everyone involved with SR downs, but not time penalties, similar to iRacing penalizing everyone involved regardless of whether they cause contact or not.

Ran a bunch of sport mode races at Suzuka today. No stopping the BRZ and dropping my best total race time to 20:31 by incorporating some new fuel saving methods: changing FM on the fly during the lap for straights or corner sections... makes it hard at times to also concentrate on hitting marks since I don't have a newer wheel with an assigned dial. It's 5 quick clicks on the up or down arrow on the wheel and hope not to fat finger right or left to change the hud. lol. But when I get it right it's quite a bit faster than sticking to FM2 and short shifting and also better on fuel saving some for an overtake or holding off a one stopper for a bit.

The LM55 is a great car and is on rails for that event. I used the tune from that same youtube video. Praiano has since come out with a tune for it... not sure if it's better, haven't tried it, but usually enjoy Praiano's tunes.

Mazda LM55 VGT (Gr1) - 950PP - Racing Hard Tires - Suzuka

I also used this one in the event: Peugeot L750R Hybrid VGT '17 - 950PP - Racing Hard Tires - Suzuka, but strangely when I use the Peugeot the top AI are consistently faster [dry conditions] than when I use the LM55. Seriously weird.

On Wednesday, I had spent the majority of the time on the Kyoto Driving Park One Hour race in which I won. Last night, I entered Daily Race A, where only three players started - including me - in which I had won. I also began to practice for the upcoming GTWS races. Several hours later, in the midnight slot of Race A, I had won that daily race.

Goddamn it.

Last night I just raced in Sport mode. Did a few at Trial Mountain in my Subaru Gr4. Unfortunately, I shunted someone in the race and although I dropped back to let them through, I couldn't help the other 3 people that went by too.

It looked like they left the room straight after and their name didn't match their PSN in 'Players recently met' so I couldn't apologise.

So Dellboy (the driver of a dodge viper). Sorry for braking too late and hitting the back of you.

That aside though, I did enjoy the racing with everyone.

Met John. Not his username, but we'll call him John.

Daily B. John had been side-swiped by a hot-headed Brazilian in an Alfa. They continued to exchange blows for a lap, before wiping eachother out on the last lap.

Next race John decided to keep it up and so did the Brazilian - pushing and bumping eachother. Going onto the back straight lap 2, it's the Brazilian, John and I. John got a good exit so he's gaining on the Brazilian, and I'm in his slip. John pulls to the right obviously intending to take the Brazilian on the inside, I gain on the Brazilian and I'm almost touching his bumper when we approach the braking zone. Before I hit the brakes though, John lunges hard left to force the Brazilian into the wall. What happens? Well... The Brazilian comes to a complete stop as John pinched him, but before the Brazilian ghosts out I slam into the back of him at full speed, transferring all of my momentum over. Being right on the Brazilians rear bumper I had no chance of avoiding him. The Brazilian carries on only a few hundreths lost, while I'm at a complete stop.

I figure I'd message John to explain why his anger issues need to be better handled, as we had zero issue but he managed to ruin my race instead of the Brazilians, but John has his privacy settings set so it doesn't get to him.

Thanks John!

One Daily race C, started on pole but finished 2nd as someone got the jump on me in the pits. Fair play to them though, they were quicker till the end of the race.

Tried doing the Kei car human comedy mission at Autopolis in a Cappucino with power restrictor and max ballast for PP requirements. Boy, do I suck, did not even get the bronze but that was because I spun myself out too many times. Near the end, however, I was doing fine as I finally figured out that you can take so many corners without braking at all in that car lol.

Took the Gr3 Impreza and did the WTC 700 Championships for a bit of cash then went and spent it all on the DP-100 VGT based on plenty of people's recommendation. I entered the Deep Forest VGT event just to see what this thing had. Holy crap. She's fast. It got loose a few times with RH tires, which caused me to cross the line in 2nd, about ten car lengths behind first. This thing is gonna be fun with a bit of seat time.

All at Sarthe:
Tested Exeter's Mitsu GTO
Tested 2 variants of Praiano's R8 LMS

To do:
Test cbarbosa's GTO (dirty bugger snuck it in after I started the R8 testing) Really nice tune, probably great for the drift-oriented types.
Decide on purchasing the FINA cause now I've got the $$$. Signed, sealed, delivered. Sadly, not driven yet.
If I have the time, test Ex's R8 (NA and TB variants).

All results can be viewed at their respective tuning pages.

I was doing a livery when the power went out. The bad thing is I hadn't saved any progress up to that point. 🤬

Thankfully, I wasn't too far into it so I didn't lose too much time or effort. When the power came back on, I went back, restarted it, then saved it after I got the paint scheme done.

That would be the best we could hope for. Racing Group C cars with modern LMP cars is a factually impossible feat if trying to create any kind of parity so they could race together. Even though their PP system classifies them similarly, there is no way any old race car could hang with a modern LMP car.

I've never understood why the devs haven't thought of providing a vintage or historic style of race. They occur in North America and Europe so I am not sure why the thought has never occurred to them.

Spent a couple hours practicing drifting, and I totally suck at it. I can do in IRL no problem, but this game just doesn't make sense outside of traction. It's gonna take a LOT of time to get good at it for me.

The Pantera came up in the UCD again and I've been waiting on it to build a maxed out version. Kinda sucks that it doesn't allow for forced induction, and the car doesn't really fit in anywhere. It doesn't like oversteer much, and won't be useful in any races, but it's fast and it's beautiful. I love it, and it makes pretty much any style of wheel in the game the best it can be with all that depth and width.

Last night I tried the Tokyo 12 lapper in my 964 again but I was only able to second it again. I need to figure out how to stabilize the car better in the esses as I'm losing time there. Also tried to drive the 917 Legend car in the Sardinia 800pp but the fuel tank is too small. I was fueling every three laps and it was too much. Really fun to race but unable to get decent fuel mileage.

Ended the night working on a livery for a wide body Ruf CTR3. I know it's not a Porsche per se, but for my week of Porsche it's close enough.

Tonight is some racing with the 356's I have and race the CTR3 to see if I can win with it. Need to try and get a couple races in a 930 too. I might buy the 919 and race it this weekend with my 997's and 991. This is the end of the work week, so some racing on the weekend will conclude my week of immersion in Porsche cars.

I started this exercise because I had not determined a go-to car that I'd race in multiple races and really enjoy racing it. Unlike other Gt titles where you could use a couple cars to progress through the career, GT7 negated that by having you drive various cars to do the menu books. I wanted to find a way to spend a bunch of time seeking out great cars but avoid grinding and making it laborious. My week of immersion was a success.

This was a fun way to try and find that great car. Choosing to focus on one manufacturer and enjoy each of their cars was really worthwhile. I really love the 997's I've built and the 911 GT1 is a wonderful car to drive. The 997 will become one of my go-to cars. I can see a lot of replay value if I do this for each of the major manufacturers.

Next week I'll choose a different manufacturer and spend the week immersed in their automobiles. I think I'll keep it in the family and maybe it will be VW. Perhaps keep it German and do BMW as I've not yet raced any of those cars. For those who are interested and have been following my posts, thank you, and I'll reveal my next week immersion on Monday.

Hmmmm.. well it wasn't today, but late last night, yup, bought me my VW-GTI-VGT.. shot the car & wheels Schwarz-Uni Black to make it a true Black Beauty (BB) to match the rest of my stable.. I'll say this much, while it's not the fastest of my Krauts, this mf'er can take corners! .. seriously, I was shocked how tight it was.. only thing missing is that top end for long straights.. outside of that no complaints.. nice pickup for a mil..

VW-GTI-VGT-00.jpg

Needless to say, i'm dig'n this car.. BIGTIME!

I don't have a PS4 so I am not sure.
Don't take this as gospel, but I think it might be in your settings

I won the Alsace 1 hour mission with the Pantera. Wide body, wide wheels. Great drive.
