What did you do in GT7 today?

Did a few custom races at Monza with the Red Bull X2014 Standard and the GT F1500T-A. I had a lot of fun with them.

First of all, would it kill them to make custom race payouts far better than what they are now? I would enjoy doing them far more often if it weren’t for the poor payouts.

Secondly, the cars. The X2014 Standard is a very good car to drive now, apart from the random mid-engine snap oversteer I get going through fast corners at high speeds. The rear wanted to let go in the Lesmos at a high enough speed, so I had to sacrifice some speed to avoid the snap. This really shouldn’t be a thing, considering how much downforce it produces, even with a low downforce setup. Or maybe I can’t drive. I don’t know who or what to blame here.

The F1500T-A is a unique challenge. It is unforgiving if you aren’t careful with the throttle, which is unsurprising given its power. Once you’ve mastered it (that is, driving it without any driver aids other than weak ABS), it is a fabulous car.

Put an Audi engine in a MR2. Now need to finetune it. Also did the le mans 700pp race with an old jag. Great racing. Did the one Monza race with a FXX. Needed a lot of fuel saving, even on FM6. Monza needs more races! 4star ticket gave me 500.000 Its almost if the game wants to lure me back. Anyway, checked out the new ps+ subscriptions and saw WRC10 for free. Had not played a rally game since dirt rally 2.0 so decided to download. Lots of fun and a really good single player career so far.

What an interesting day today, tried to bash out all the golds on Watkins CE, almost there just gotta finish the 1-lap attack.

Managed to nail the silly 24mins LE-mans mission with the LM55 (great car) on the "Sun also rises" Mission. Beat the rivals quite well and still had room to spare. 1 pit and wet tyres got me through a downpour of crap.

Then tuned up the little RX-7 I bought for the extra menu cafe books thingy, I love the sound of a howling rotary engine.

Did a little engine swap 6 star roulette and got a lovely porsche engine, that I slapped in to my 1955 VW beetle and cranked it up to 11 to have some fun on watkins glen racetrack, very cool car but needs some more tuning to be stable on the corners lol.

Had some time today to fire up GT7 and have some fun.

Bought the F40 because of course, and another 930 Porsche to have a stock one and one to RWB. People talk about cars being hard to drive in game, like most Ferraris, the Carrera GT and some other wild ones, but a modified 930 Porsche has to be the most difficult to tame. It hammers in the Porsche motto of "lift-off-oversteer" into your head harder than anything I've driven in any game. It does not allow for you entirely lifting off throttle without killing you dead. Once my brain wrapped around it it's quick, but man, is it a punishing lesson to learn, and very counterintuitive even by rear engine standards. As always, hard to drive cars are very fun to master.

Set up some custom races choosing garage cars, and while they are "faster" if you choose them that way, the AI still just gives up by the halfway point. Very frustrating when all many of us want is consistent and challenging AI. Makes for good pics though, and surely better competition than letting the game choose random cars.

I did one RWB in the style I wanted, then another widebody that a friend wanted me to re-create, and took my old RX7 that I haven't driven in a long time out to hoon around in some races.

Orange on that Pantera is something else. I'm totally going to use that color in the future.

Drove the CLK-LM on Le Mans, the FD RX-7 on Laguna Seca, my M64/03-911 swapped Beetle on Watkins Glen, my Ferrari F40 on Watkins Glen, my 2JZ swapped GR Yaris on Watkins Glen and my fully tuned 2JZ swapped Silvia S15 on Dragon Trail Seaside.

Just finished this latest set of Sport Races.

Tsukuba:
  • Started and finished 2nd
Maggiore:
  • Started 15th and finished 11th with the Evo
Watkins Glen:
  • Started 14th and finished 6th with the GT-R (would've been 3rd if it wasn't for the penalties)
Now I am at 16 Races with 8 Clean.

I only had time for the GTP account again, so I golded the last Tokyo CE...after turning the ABS up from weak to default. That leaves just most of Europe to gold (I golded Brands Hatch, Goodwood, Lago Maggiore, Spa and Nurburgring GP). The engine marathon roulette gave me (another) Silvia engine.

Since the Mustang Mach 1 was in stock, and I had a bunch of Coyote engines lying around, I bought four Mustang Mach 1s, put the Coyote in all of them, and stretched out two. I also bought a fifth Bugatti Veyron 16.4 for tuning purposes as I had an invite.

Gifted a 6 star ticket, just for completing Sardegna WTC 800 (it's usually a 2 or 3!).
Imagine my disappointment when the wheel had 5 engines on it!

I won one for the GTR Nismo '17 which I have, but it's far from needing a new engine.

Oh well better than the usual smallest pile of gold coins!

You could shove it into the Lancia Delta, the Nissan 300ZX or the Nissan 180SX.

Running the ticket script just because 'winning' all the parts, cars and engines is now quite amusing. So many parts for cars I have no interest in, lol. Also spent time trying to organize all cars I have for swaps and which cars I would like to get a duplicate for said swap. I just need a few cars to cycle through UCD to complete the current crop of cars that allow it. There also really needs to be a way to rename cars in our garage, or custom folders or something for better organization, but for now they all share the same paint color.

Took the Aston Martin V12 vantage to Spa. Lots of rain, quite a difficult race today. Won by 12 seconds.
A 6 star ticket of dispondency revealed Bore up for a A45 AMG...ridiculous...
Mr Hagerty sold me a 2nd hand, red, Italian thing with a horse on the front. Told me it's an icon... Go figure... Its not exactly a DB5 is it?.. Still... A fool & his credits...
Entered only my 2nd ever Sport race...
The 1st was a bad experience at Spa. Got my braking wrong at the chicane at the end of the long straight on the 1st lap & hit someone from behind.. Lots of bumping going on, 1st lap shenanigans, you know, so allowed all cars to pass me so I knew I'd given the place back. Lap 2, same place, I get sent into the run off... Revenge? Dunno, but my place wasn't given back. Ended up finishing 5th, but I think that was because of the rage quitters.. Put me off Sport Mode..
So, for a change, I entered daily race A.. Miata at Tsukuba, 6 laps.. CS tyres. Started 12th, finished 6th..didn't embarrass myself or anyone else this time. Didn't spin off or hit anyone else. Seemed to be a pretty fair race to me... But I don't have that much experience. Can't tell you how nervous I was.. Might try a few more online races now I've had a good experience..
We'll see...
Well, have a good weekend everyone.
Ttfn

Take it you get a NSX grb rally car by selecting the nsx picture? instead of the 4 star ticket or 6 star ticket pictures, did try em out see what happened, now got 8 of those cars lol, Be no selling gift cars when we can sell.

Built Jimmy Broadbent's MX-5 Time Attack car and ran some laps around Brand's Hatch Indy. It is built to 186hp when his is 183, but is 2053lbs while his is 2034... so fairly close, but could be closer. Ran 1:53s to his IRL 1:55-1:56, but he was having throttle issues which probably sucked some fractions from his time.

I finally got around to doing the Lago Maggiore 1h mission race and it was a bit of an adventure. Reading a couple of guides on here I decided to go with the RX Vision since it was so good on fuel.
The first attempt I got to about lap 8 and spun so I restarted. Then many subsequent attempts all ended with me getting divebomed into turn 1 on lap 2 and then retaliating out of frustration.
Then on about try #8 I was still trying a one stop strat and after lap 22 the BMW M3, who is supposed to be the main target car apparently, came out miles ahead of me and I got pretty discouraged. So I just quit the race and took a break.
The next attempt I went for the 2 stop strategy and this is finally the attempt that netted me the gold. Since the RX Vision is so good with fuel I figured why not just go flat out and just fuel up to what I need for a stint.
The start of the race was pretty uneventful except for me spinning the M3 getting spun so that would be helpful later. After 10 laps I only used ~80% of fuel so after fresh mediums and the excruciating wait for my 60% of fuel I was on my way and was out 12ish seconds ahead of the M3. The second stint was a little more stressful because I’m apparently really bad at turns 2-4 and the last 4 corners of Maggiore, so the M3 was slowly creeping closer every lap and by lap 20 the gap was under 6 seconds. Another set of mediums, another wait for the fuel to drip in. The M3 pitted on lap 22 and it came out a little more than 4 seconds behind.
The last stint was the hardest I’ve sweat in this game both literally and figuratively. Trying to pass back markers and chase down the Huracan that had found itself in the lead was just excruciating. Passed the green bull on lap 27 and didn’t look back.
A total of 1 hour and 38 seconds later I was victorious in an event I thought was out of my skill range just hours ago. Z432 and DB5 finally acquired for getting the last gold in the mission set.
When it was all said and done, funnily enough the M3 I was so worried about was miles behind by the end and the Lamborghini was sticking too close behind for me to ever feel really comfortable with my warn mediums, ending up less than 2 seconds behind by the end.

I don’t really know how to feel about the event, really. Because I never want to do the race again and didn’t like how I felt during it, but also it was a lot of fun achieving something difficult and having my scrub butt be pushed to be better and wouldn’t mind more difficult events in the future.
