It's justified. Just think what will happen if Iraq is left behind with Saddam and bomb other countries. You can say that US wants oil(which is true) but why do you think all the middle-east countries are so silent on this matter? Because they feel Saddam is a threat to them.

A note to all the peacemakers out there:
I know your intentions are good, but what if Saddam really went berserk and just dish out some nukes and say bomb UK or release some nerve agents in Paris? Then don't go asking around for help and regreting.

My last opinion:
Power rules in this world. US got the power and we can't do anything to stop it. If Iraq has the same power and wealth as US you think they would sit there like an idiot? They will surely saveguard it againts any threat, real or imaginary.

God I hate president Bush. Honestly im a pretty nice guy most of the time and wish death on very few people but Bush about tops that list. Hes a moron. He keeps telling Saddam to do this or well invade. So as soon as Saddam does it Bush says oh well! ITS TIME FOR A WAR.

What exactly has Saddam done that Bush told him to do? Did I miss something? Do you mean about letting the inspectors in that he kicked out a long time ago? Or do you mean turning over a few made up documents? Or destroying a few spare missles?

The phrase ; " I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent " comes to mind.

I think the whole war has no basis. If anything, it should be considered 'Attempted Murder of Saddam' and people should be prosecuting Bush. He has no BASIS, but he does have a MOTIVE. It's also just another excuse for the US to use its blunt force.

Have you been listening to the same news as the rest of us?
1. Saddam has tried to obtain a reactor capable of producing WEAPONS GRADE plutonium.
2. He has, over the last 12 years, been developing biological and chemical weapons.
3. He has used biologicals and chemical weapons on his OWN people. (Testing, and to keep control.)
4. Anytime someone else has become too "popular" with the people, and he was in danger of being deposed those people were killed.

You say we have no basis for going to war. We have REASON to go to war. This man has killed his OWN with "weapons of Mass destruction". He rules thru fear and terror. Further what would he need with Weapons Grade plutonium? He's not wanting to set up a reactor to provide his nation with electricity. He wants to make some bombs so he can hold the world hostage.
What's going to keep him from using them on his ENEMIES?
You talk about Sodam Insane as if he was a RATIONAL individual, with Western Morals and Values.
Newsflash! To him we are the "GREAT SATAN" though we have pledged to send food and medical aid to the people of Iraq. He needs to be deposed, YESTERDAY!!

Gil my man the frustration in your post comes through loud and clear..there are always going to be some of us that are ignorant, some of them because of circumstance some out of deliberate choice. The deliberate ignorants will not be swayed by reason, truths or facts. On them you will have wasted your efforts. Not everyone aggrees that the U S is doing the right thing and they came to this conclusion in a rational manner and know the reality of the situation.
The frustration comes from the ones who have no clue except for what they imagine is one and just seem to like to speak before they engage their brain functions.
Change the frustration to pity in that case,, it will be better than getting an ulcer. The bombs are falling now my freinds and countrymen are at war. The time for discussion is over. Its time to get real. God bless our troops and all of the innocents. And God bless the idiots and save them from themselves..

Thank you for saying it. It is a somber time and all that matters now is succeeding and getting it over with. Even Tom Daschle knows that.

Dude, I've been listening to the news, but they barely say anything, and what they say is vague. That is the reason why I do not trust the media too much. Call me a skeptic, I don't really care. The government uses the media for propganda and it's kind of limiting us. It's also filtering much news out, leaving us in our own ignorance. So he wants to build nukes, okay, I can see that as a threat. But look at it from the perspective of somebody outside of the US. The US has the most firepower, more than the rest of the world. The state of North Dakota alone would become the 5th most powerful nation IN THE WORLD if it were alone. So meanwhile, we have plenty of nukes, stored away until the government wants to use them. If Sadam really needs nukes, he can probably just go get a malitia, have them flown to Canada, then they'll drive across the boarder, jack some nukes, and find a way to ship them back to Iraq, or even worse, store them somewhere in Canada, not giving the US any warning time at all that a missle is about to blow up in its land.
If Sadam doesn't want to steal the nukes from North Dakota, he can either buy them on the black market in Russia or other parts of the former Soviet Union, or he can steal them from there, meaning less shipping time to Iraq.

As you can see, I'm arrogant and pretty much one-sided, it's just the way I am. Unless I'm given an extremely convincing side of an argument, I cannot place myself in the bandwagon, I'm just not one of those people that goes along with everyone else because it's the "hip way" of doing things.

The only thing that I have any respect or anything for Sadam is his standing up to the US instead of bending over backward. Do I think that it's a great idea to keep it on so long that it's bringing on another battle? Of course not, nobody does. Like most dictators, monarchies, &c throughout history, he merely wants to keep his power. The worst part about this whole thing is that wasn't it the US that put him in this position a while ago?
MileFile and Gil, if either of you wish to talk to me about this and try to reason me one way or the other, or just feel like yelling at an "arrogant fool", feel free to either contact me on AIM or PM me through GTP.

I'll leave this one to the others here. I've given up on him a long time ago. Ohh...one thing though. There is nothing blunt about our force. It's razor sharp.

it is so sad to see so many young ppl in this country in the suport of this war. perhaps you are too young to know or understand what it is we are doing over there. this is not political, this is not for any reason. it is this simple - Poeple are dying. people who might as well be our mothers and fathers, our friends and girlfriends. there is no, and will never be, justification for percieved preemtive strike.... period.

Fair point - if we knew, for instance, that Mexico had four million nuclear bombs and they were all sitting in Nogales, Sonora pointed towards every square inch of this country, we should wait until they fire, say, two million before striking back. Bang!

Allow me to paint a little scenario for you all;

You are back from lunch on a warm day, just days into your second grade year. The teacher is forbidding, the kids all new, you're not sure how you will fit in. Typical enough... such feelings are shared by all your peers. You take solace in the fact that there are only three more hours until you are able to go home, able to relax.

A siren goes off as you open your arithmetic book. The teacher barks routine orders to get under your desk. You are used to these sirens. You feel like there is no reason to panic - you know that the great and mighty empire across the sea has razor sharp precision in their attacks. No harm will come to the building here. They only want to kill someone- someone you dont know, but someone your parents love. Why would you care about that? There is no reason to worry for all you need in your life is the comfort of your parents.

The crack splits through the air, followed by a rumble and a boom. The others scream around you, for this has been the closest one yet! Thank god, says the teacher as she does her best to reassure the frightened students. A few more distant booms go off, and you hear the siren stop. It is time to return to your studies, again, as if nothing has happened.

The day is finally over, the bus stops outside your house, the moment you have been waiting for is finally here. You run to your mothers arms, but she isn't happy to see you. She holds you tighter than she usually does, and begins to cry.

WHAT is a TERRORIST? Is it a man consumed by anger? Hate? Pain? Is it a face we have never seen? Is it someone we don't know?

Or is it the man whose father was killed in an American bombing raid while working in a military factory ... serving his country.

Thank you Mr. Bush- for creating the future face of terror against this nation.

Damn - no porn. I shouldn't have read past 'great and mighty empire.'

Wow. Can we nominate short stories for Oscars? Because I was almost crying.

WHAT is a TERRORIST?

Dunno - HAVE you SEEN my LUNCH? I can't SEEM to FIND it ANYWHERE. SO would YOU help ME look?

Is it a man consumed by anger? Hate? Pain? Is it a face we have never seen? Is it someone we don't know?

Is it under the table? The counter? The stove? Is it upstairs? Is it next to the couch?

Thank you Mr. Bush- for creating the future face of terror against this nation.
