Finished MGS 2 last night, I had forgotten how much of a pain the second half of the game is. Pretty much everything after
the Harrier - the platforming section to reach Shell 2 Core, the swimming section to find the Nikita, meeting the President, fighting Vamp, escorting E.E., crossing the oil fence, being "tortured", the Tengu fights, the Ray fight, being strangled again and the Solidus fight -
is basically a string of set pieces that don't have a great deal in common with what the game was all about leading up to that point.

Then again, MGS is quite similar after
the Hind - the cargo lifts (including the fight on one), Vulcan Raven except he's a great boss, the PAL key backtracking, the Rex fight, Liquid and the escape -
so I guess it fits, it's just that that point where the game changes comes relatively later in MGS and is of higher quality and less annoying.

Still, as soon as I finished the game I did a "speed run" of the tanker to get the last few dog tags I'd missed because I didn't level up my grip strength, I could've gone faster (I managed to get two alerts on the same camera, if you've played the game you can probably guess which one) but did it in a little over half an hour. Playing the game normally is fun, but using speedy "loud stealth" techniques is fun too.

@tbtstt until the Master Collection I'd bought MGS 1 three times (original, PSN, PC), MGS 2 four times (original, Substance, HD and PC) and MGS 3 twice (original and HD)
I need to check my MGS shelf to make sure I am not forgetting any, but I have only bought MGS1 once (original), MGS VR once (original), MGS2 three times (original, Substance and HD) and MGS3 three times (original, Subsistence and HD).

Master Collection will take me up to four for MGS2 and MGS3. Also I (perhaps foolishly) have a pre-order in for Metal Gear Solid Delta so arguably that will be a fifth MGS3!

Yeah. The end sections do rather jump around (which I guess they sort of need to in order to fit within the narrative), MGS1 was the same, but I personally think think there is a better flow to the end of MGS1 than MGS2.

The "arrival" at the final fight in MGS2 is jarringly quick, but then it is no secret that a chunk of story (or at least video) was cut out there.

My current rotation is GT7, PC2, Ghost of Tsushima, Rise of the Ronin, Sonic/Shadow Generations and Yakuza Kiwami 2

About half way through Dead Island 2, a very fun game. I could care less about the story but the gameplay is great fun, never played the original so wasn't sure what to expect.

Next up is Deliver at all costs and then Limbo, all on the Steam Deck.

The best thing about PC gaming is the amount of free games which are given away on a regular basis.

Finished with The First Berserker: Khazan

One of the best and probably hardest Souls game.
Masterpiece with fantastic and emotional story, very elaborate combat, soundtrack that's following all that emotions and to me, most beautiful cel shading graphics.
Clear 9/10 from me

Chipping away at Doom: The Dark Ages. I admit it took a little while for the game to click for me, but it's very addicting with certain weapons and upgrades about halfway through the game.

It is a bit of a shame that the game is so fast paced that you don't really get to stop and appreciate how good looking it is at times.

I‘m on my second playthrough of The Witcher 3 that I started in January. I‘m currently 200 hours in and started the Blood and Wine DLC last week. I still love this game just as much as I did in 2019, when I played it for the first time.

Nightrein and I'm loving it even if public lobbies can be annoying sometimes. Still getting used to the game but I had lots of fun yesterday.

After hearing about Multiversus being shutdown I rushed to redownload but I thought I was too late being that it was the 31st but I decided to try and download it. It worked got a notification from the PS App that a game with no screenshot downloaded. So I played that for a few minutes. I thought it was good for what it was.

Still on MGS2, I've played the first Snake Tale a few times over to get the different endings but I've mostly been chipping away at the missions. They are not easy, at all. I've done 51% of Raiden's and 50% of Ninja Raiden's and it's been slow going. The problem is the difficulty comes mostly from the controls and the game's response to them, which are good enough for the game itself but nowhere near good enough when it wants you to do some of the pixel-perfect stuff you have to do for the high scores. The game is also quite inconsistent, you can do the exact same thing five times and you'll get five different results. Which is frustrating as heck, especially because you can't just quickly restart.

Still, I'll stick with it and chip away at it, I would love to 100% the entire game.

Day of reckoning: After a strong start to Q1 of this year where I finished many games, I'm kinda stuck.

So, I really need to streamline my current roster and be honest with myself whether I want to continue or not with some games.

On the chopping block: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It's a great recreation of the look and feel of the original movie and a technical standout but... It seems all I want is a great 2-hour Indiana Jones experience and not a 20+ hours experience full of fetch sub quests. I don't know if I will ever finish it at this point.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Yeah, great opening, graphics, music, but the further I go, the more obscure (heh) it gets in regard to its narrative/combat/upgrade/leveling systems. I haven't touched it for some weeks now so... I may just dump my save file and start all over again.

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: Yeah, I downloaded it because of FOMO and all the excitement about it and the shadow drop... But I have to be real, I'd rather replay Avowed (fire retardant clothes ready) which gives me a streamlined and similar experience (and you are done in 30 hours). And no, I never finished the 360 version or Skyrim to begin with.

On the other hand, I think I will put 100 hours+ into AC Shadows, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Zero Dawn (Remastered), and Witcher 3. I just love the detail of their respective worlds.

Doom The Dark Ages has been a nice surprise and may be the first Doom game I ever finish because the length of its chapters is perfect for 1-hour or less playtime, the upgrade system is pretty straight forward, the combat is fun, and its performance is excellent.

I've finally got the Stream controller working with Elite Dangerous so I'm playing that on my PC. I wish the'd produce an Odyssey edition for PS5/Xbox series.

After Multiversus shut down last week I decided to download even though I hadn't played since earlier the year. They had added a lot of new characters but I see why it failed to draw an audience. I have messing around with it for few minutes then I go on to something else. Also been playing Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 a lot as well

Finished Doom the Dark Ages.

After playing Eternal to death and now finishing Dark Ages, I booted up 2016 again…. That game looks as good as ever and is much more Doom, because of the hallways and corridors.

I really like Dark Ages, it is very heavy and it makes me feel like I am causing earthquakes. Set pieces and Lovecraftian themes are also nice.

But 2016 is just more Doom. Scifi in Hell. Or the other way around basically.

Finished Dead Island 2. Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought i would, story is cheesy and might as well not be there but the locations and weapons did a great job of keeping it fun throughout. Bonus that it was free.

Now 7 hours in on Indiana Jones. Good game so far, the puzzles in particular are great, struggling with the map and getting around the map a big though.

Also about halfway through Limbo, very good indy game which also has great puzzles, love the simplicity of it all.
