So, yesterday at school, we were all forced to attend this presentation called "Not My Kid" (No idea why it's called that). Our school makes us attend these things periodically throughout the year; they're usually about bullying and cyber-bullying, and one was about drugs and alcohol. This presentation was about depression. The presentation was very interesting; listening to the speaker's life story was intriguing but a bit scary, too, but the end really ground my gears. At the end of her big story, the lady says,"And so then I gave my life to Christ, and I've been so much happier since." No, no, no, you have it all wrong, lady, depression can't just be cured by taking up a religion and worshiping some random guy. No, depression is a serious thing; it can't be cured, at least not completely. No, you need good medication to clear it up somewhat, but saying that religion helped you get over it is a bunch of bull. You don't just get over depression, ok, lady? You obviously either take medication that helps, or you simply weren't depressed, but rather just unhappy with life itself. Some people are such idiots, and claiming that religion is the way out is bull, especially when it's being said to somebody like myself, who isn't exactly pro-religion. Geez...
