What GT5 cars have GOOD engine sounds?

No not even close. I have 2 351W and they sound NOTHING even close to stock, or modded.

IMO most of the V8's sound really good. What I don't understand is when you put racing exhaust on a ZR1 it sounds like a inline engine but when you put sport it sounds like a decent V8

Makes you wonder.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Pagani Zonda C12S / C12S 7.3.
It sounds fantastic.

True! These sound really good :) Feels like a V12 supersport car... like it should be 👍

The '00 C5 Corvette, with a semi-racing exhaust, excites me in ways I don't understand.

Doesn't matter, you never really get to listen to them, other noises like wind and tires are to loud in relation.

Cockpit view is better, but none of them really sound good enough to worry about, except in third person view.

Shelby Cobra? 2J? There aren't many that sound good, but there are some. The important factor seems to be decent bass from your sound equipment but even that isn't enough to make most cars sound good.

Scoobies sound rubbish whatever you do to them. They sound rubbish in real life too, I should know, 3 of my neighbours have them.

3 of your neighbors made wise choices

The Nissan GT-R race cars (from the GT500(?) class).

Weird thing is, I haven't really given a damn about my namesakes engine note in this game. And the note really isn't that close to real life...
Meh. At this point in the GT series, I'd rather have a car that sounds nice than worry about how accurate it sounds.

Same here.
GT5P had better sounds imo, maybe that's not new, idk.

anything as long as you dont put a racing exhaust on it.. the engine sounds are pretty awsome until you do that, and even then, most cars sound good, chevys sound horrible with it on, and V6s sound horrible

I kinda like the Shelby Cobra sound, even at idle it sounds quite good (flat-plane crank?). The combination Shelby Cobra plus Nordschleife on Comfort Softs is still one of my favourites, the physics just have gotten more enjoyable since GT4.

What's a bit annoying is the fact that with the stock four-speed gearing you're bangin off the revlimiter in 4th all too soon, but when adding the 5-speed gearbox you'll have straight-cut gearwhine completely drowning out the engine sound.

Am still waiting to find the 350 Shelby Coupe thing in the used car dealership…

I like the sound of the rx 7 spirit r with the middle exhaust on it.

so lets hope that 2.0 give us better sounds

I have no problem with the sounds now overall but that would be welcomed. I remember when we got better sounds in the GT5P update. 👍

Ferrari F40

It breaks my heart sometimes when I listen to the 3rd person exhaust note on the Mercedes C63 or even M3 then go back to what we drive with.
I guess the sound model might be accurate for in car sound but it's a game at the end of the day no matter how accurate I like it to be when I sit in my cockpit, I'd love it to sound as awesome as possible.

But to the question, great ones I drive regularly are the 787B, Zonda R and the SLS. There are other cool ones though, the old Datsun Bluebird is fun and so is the Mugen Civic Racecar.

I feel that sound recordings is the single most important thing for PD to get right now. The graphics are fantastic, the physics are coming along nicely...sounds however are trailing a long way behind. Great engine sounds are a very important imersion factor! It's hard to get into a car and enjoy racing if its sounds totally wrong. I'd like to add that the sounds of the straight cut gears are WAY TO STRONG on alot of cars!!!
I'm hoping PD can get this right,

BMW M5 with racing exhaust.

M5 with racing exhaust sounds like crap, in 3rd person view, M5 with Standard exhaust could be, otherwise it sounds like some kind of cheap lightweight racing cart.

Triumph Spitfire 1500 fully tuned with titanium racing exhaust. Just leave off the fully customizable transmission or the gear whine drowns out the engine from mid RPM on.
The throaty burble of this car is truly wonderful.👍👍

Chaperrall(sp?) 2D. Change up to third when you are stationary, then floor the loud pedal and listen to it.

I love the sound of the Volvo C30-R stock when accelerating through 3rd gear

Ford GT40 Race Car 👍

Citroën C4 fully tuned sounds absolute beautiful

The Lexus LF-A. Love that screaming V10 even if it's toned down in GT5.

Mazda 787B is waaayyyyy too overrated IMO. The start-up sounds awesome, but when driving, it's just a buzzing whine. Not even close in representing the car's engine noise.

Ford GT and Ford Mark IV Racecar sound good too, but again PD hasn't even come close to representing a decent V8 sound that you can really go "wow, now that's an engine!"

Really do hope in the 2.0 spec update that they fix or even exaggerate all the engine noises so that you can have a real sense of excitement when driving.
