What GT5 cars have GOOD engine sounds?

That video does nothing for your argument, I just got done driving the car and while the whine is loud you can still hear the rumble within the cockpit view. It sounds nothing like that on my 5.1 that video you posted doesn't even sound like he has a decent sound system. 👎

How about a clip of a C3 with a racing transmission?

I agree that the sounds are pretty bad, but the two clips in this video SHOULDN'T sound similar.

Its not only that it sounds like its tv speakers, even in stock form the whine is loud but the rumble is louder. There is no rumble at all in that video, when my fiance gets home I will post a video. Hopefully I can get the bass captured in the video you will see it sounds nothing like that. 👍
 
Yeah. I'm definitely not an apologist for GT5 sound, because frankly it is pretty bad as a whole, but that is a poor example for many reasons.

Here you go I wish I could get the deepness of the sub more, but this is the best I can do. Even still if you listen closely you can hear the rumble, and its better in person. Still my video sounds way better than Hotspitta posted.

Edit I haven't used my camera in a while, I had it on the wrong settings so I will post better videos tomorrow, if anybody want to hear a specific car let me know. 👍

Lotus Elise RM drag tuned, off throttel and over run sounds amazing!!!
 
The RX-8 and FD RX-7s sound pretty good stock. Less so with mods.

THe 787B is fairly accurate but the quality is awful. There is some pretty nasty pitch blending, an obvious loop, and really terrible artifacting. Shame it sounds so bad.

Enthusia's 787B on PS2 sounded better, IMO

Nice gurgling noise when you lift off the throttle.

Triumph Spitfire 1500 fully tuned with titanium racing exhaust. Just leave off the fully customizable transmission or the gear whine drowns out the engine from mid RPM on.

Along with my 70' Nissan Skyline 2000GTR Hardtop, that burbling sound is exactly what I'm talking about. It seems to come across only in fully tuned classic cars with racing exhaust.
Another spectacular car I found is the Jaguar E-Type 👍. Fully tuned with racing exhaust, it has that same burbling sound but it sounds fuller than the Skyline's. Between these two cars though, I don't want to drive anything else. :drool:

True! The E-Type is one of my fav cars in GT5, got like 6 of them :)
 
The 787B sounds fairly accurate for a 4-rotor, but lacks the quality and rumble it should have, not to mention that annoying looping sound you can here above 9000rpm. I'd say it sounds best at idle and between 6500-8700rpm.

You can see there's a lot of promise in the way PD do sound, every gear change at 32s onwards was different to the previous, presumably because of differences in the control inputs. I'm not a fan of the artificial gear-change wobble (I'd rather it were in the physics), but the level of expression GT5's sound engine has is second to no other racing game.

The 458 would sound great with a bit of induction noise on the interior views. That's what's missing on most cars in GT5 (well, all GT games).

Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo is on 2nd place on my list.
Mark IV (3rd place) sounds awesome when you drive slowly in 1st gear.

But in my opinion, all the cars sound weak at higher speeds.

And the worst thing for me is the extremely quiet sound in interior/bumper view.
When I race against a friend of mine (splitscreen), he always chooses external view while I'm driving with bumper view. Effect of this: I cannot hear my car because the sound of his ones is so much louder. :crazy:
 
I have a new favorite sound - the Ruf 3400R, fully tuned with a racing exhaust. It actually sounds like it has a 911 engine stuck in it (which it has), it has a very unique sound, which is a rare find in GT5
 
BMW 2002 sounds gorgeous with semi racing/racing exhaust
Merdeces C63 as stock sounds awesome
Mercedes SL500 '98 with racing exhaust
Lancia Delta as stock
Toyota Supra Mk IV fully tuned

The Toyota Soarer 430SCV is by far my favorite sounding car now. That V8 sounds perfect completely stock, and is huge fun to cruise in...definitely recommend it!
 
All I ever hear is the gearbox ;)

The looping sound is the rev limiter. Good sounding car though!
 
Supra RZ stock and with Titanium exhaust sounds very nice.
Also, the GT-R R35 fully tuned but without the Titanium exhaust or FC Transmission.
 
Mercedes SLR, both the premium and standard. Makes American muscle cars sound wimpy by comparison.
 
you have to adjust sound settings on options menu to small theater or large theater and be using a surround system you get the full benefit of blow off valves and proper sounds. and with home theater you can adjust (on your theater system) the blend of sound coming from the back or front and so on. you want more exhaust rumble or more intake and turbo sound you tune theater accordingly.


somebody else mentioned it.....yes there is tons of gear whine in the racing transmission....well that's what a racing trans does...I'm sure average folks have heard a race car before and thought it was supercharged or had a turbo and it was really just the trans. what about gear driven cams?? those produce quite a howl as well

exhausts.... some sound proper.....some sound horrible.....pick a car.....got to an online room and try out multiple exhausts on it back to back.....most cases you will find one that sounds good. most of the time it's a sports or semi racing exhaust for some strange reason.
 
The samba with the chrome twin pack i think its the one before titainium

and the 69 gt40 race car!!!!
 
Lister Storm sounds excellent, makes up a bit for it being so slow and heavy, wish they'd done the GT1 version.
 
Renault Maxi Turbo Rally Car. Gives the subwoofer quite a workout.
 
Premium Honda Civic with the Sports exhaust.
