Yeah, he decided to leave, but was banned before he had the chance to leave...

Yes, he did go "crazy" and delete a LOT of posts. "We" beleive that most, if not all, of the threads he deleted were his own that he had started.

Why did he do this? Well, he said he was leaving because he was tired of the lack of rule enforcement(well, he was a moderator, he should have enforced some rules, right?), and a whole bunch of other pointless crap. We're not sure exactly why he deleted all those threads, but we beleive he was trying to erase all of his posts. Trying to make it look like he had never posted here.

besides...isn't he older than me

Nah, he was younger than you. He always told me he was 16, and he had 16 in his profile.

Well it does seem odd that a moderator (i.e. an enforcer of the rules) should complain about lack of rule enforcement.

I've been hanging around here pretty much obsessively for two months now, and it doesn't really strike me that the rules are being broken. So either enforcement is not necessary or the existing mods are doing their jobs right.

Either way, if the guy was 16, it sounds more like a fit of pique, and he's probably now re-registered under another name because he's missing the place.

Ya know GilesGuthrie...

you are 110% right!!! (is that possible :thatsodd:?)

anyway...i can guarantee that the guy is registered under a new name and plotting to wreck the place...i know it...

I really don't know where people get the energy for all of this kind of nonsense - must be because they don't have a job.

He did go to town on that bloke though...

I guess this applies to bulletin boards ... just substituite nouns.

Well, I can understand 'posting from the hip' as it were - it was a pretty silly post that got him riled, and jeez we've all posted in the heat of the moment.

However, as your current title suggests, a quick deep breath before replying should have revealed the guy had pretty limited English skills, and that a simple 'you're entitled to your opinion as I am to mine' would have been ample. That's hindsight.

I think what surprised everyone was his coming back to it a week later, when the guy that ticked him off hadn't reposted to the site. That was a bit odd, and I think the response from the community was warranted, especially given his status.

But, that's the fun of on-line living. If he'd let it go, everyone would have forgotten about it in a couple of days, forgiven him, and moved on.

Instead, he did this pointless thing and angered a lot of people.

There really was no need for him to go. I think the site is very well conducted compared to a lot of the flame-fests that go on out there - there's the odd flare-up but it's over quickly and we move on. The forum really wasn't too concerned about it, but obviously the chiding was too much for him.

Do you think because the 'physicality' of normal conversation is removed people react differently and in a more exaggerated fashion than they would normally?

It's ironic, isn't it? We have this medium of communication that is very limited in terms of broadcasting emotional content, and yet often you will see people react 'in extremis', in a way you would never see in the real world.

Gee, that got a bit rambly...
