what has been your favourite car to own

Our current, a Subaru Liberty/Legacy RX - beautifully built, faultless handling, lovely light thing to drive. Fantastic. Suits whatever driving mood I'm in - cutting through side roads, running through narrow country roads, cruising on interstate highway - just fantastic.

Terrible overheating problems too.

Not sure yet. Last year's Impreza RS (which I owned) was just a blast to drive. This year's WRX (which I own) is faster, tighter, lighter on its feet...but it just lacks the feel, the character that the previous generation had. Still, rumour has it the simple substitution of 17" wheels remedies all my worries. I guess I'll find out when I get out of debt....

Ha - I had an old 1976 Corolla, originally an 1100 4 speed when I got my hands on it, it quickly became a warmed up 1300 5 speed with decent shocks and decent tyres (same size as factory but good tyres) - but looked absolutely stock (made it a bit of a handful at high speed as those things got life at about 130kmh).

The car was called Barney, after Dr Christian Barnard (since the little fella had had a heart transplant).

I loved sliding that thing, especially in the wet - unless I was looking through the rear window to see where I was going, I was in control - although that thing spent most of its cornering time sideways, I never once spun it.

I had it out to 170kmh on an admittedly long downhill stretch of a straight section of freeway and it was VERY spooky - I don't think much front tyre was actually touching the ground.

Sadly, one day I was minding my own business tooling home from work one evening (it was dark) and a guy backed straight out of his driveway in front of me. I managed to avoid him (never saw the make of car or which house he came out of) but both front wheels went over a pretty tall kerb - it was then we discovered that the front chassis rails were both bent and rusty, and someone had used filler to hide this (unless you'd reached into the engine bay under the motor and checked it with a magnet, you'd have never known).

I managed to sell the motor (hope the guy who got it gave it the flogging I did - the little slant 4 loved to rev!) but sadly, Barney passed on.

Compared to the Liberty/Legacy, horrible little car (especially with the black vinyl in the Australian sun) - but an absolute hoot to drive.

id have to say my current car, 1986 mitsubishi pajero short wheel base with a late 90's 3500 V6. its funny to pass people on the highway, they crap their pants when they see this little silver puss box blow away their new commodore or falcon. its a great little car. without the V6 it sucked but now it can actually make the 31x10.5 R15 tyres smoke. which is a pretty mean feat considering the grip they have. its only meant to have 15x7's

well, since I don't own any, I'll go with my family's cars. That case it would be probably the '82 Maxima V6...it was a 5 speed, fast and smooth. My dad would pick me up from Sunday school, and as we left the parkinglot he'd drift down the road, it was the coolest thing. We went on a vacation in it, it was nice. We sold that in '96 to get the RX-7 GSL SE, that was an awsome car. I always felt cool in it, it was a beauty(Crockadile hunter voice). Very smooth at high speeds and could out run a lot of cars. Handled great. Had to sell it in '99 cause of the emmissions testing, it wouldn't pass, and my dad was getting tired of the many floodings it had, so we sold it to a guy in Ill, but we see it every once in a while at the bottom of our street cause the guy's freind lives there, he put one of those damn fish emblem thingys on the back...

I would have to say my '80 Rx-7. It was a blast to drive, and I could take corners really hard in it, I would scare my friends when I did. I had one friend who thought he could drive like a racecar driver,and he bragged about it. And one day he was with me, I turned in an intersection doing about 55,(way too hard on the car) and I scared the crap out of him. But anyway, it ran so smooth you had to check the tach just to make sure it was still running every time you sat at a stoplight. I can't wait to get the motor back in it.

i would have to say my first car a 1984 Toyta Celica. i had a **** load of miles on it but the engine was farley new (replaced in 1996). I bought it for like $1000 from some guy who had it since it was new. I love that car it had go but i didn't push it hard.

Wee-haa!, I've hated every car I owned except for my new Altima, but I've only had that for a few weeks.

My Cressida was a piece of CRAP and I kind of knew that going in to the whole affair but I bought it anyway, and it LASTED, but it was boring.

My Land Rover is unreliable as a Flobin, and also pretty top-heavy. You can really feel it going around corners. I have NO idea how the stunt driver in "Don't Say A Word" managed to keep his on the ground.

Of course, the Altima's great. Though it has a bigger turning circle than the Chevy Venture. But otherwise, it's great. Oh, yeah, and I bet the brakelights will cost me a trillion dollars to fix when I bash into a tree. Which is inevitable.
