Upgraded my Aunt's laptop from 512MB of DDR SODIMM to 1256MB of DDR SODIMM with a new 1GB memory stick for $29. Ordered the DDR 333 speed since it has an integrated memory chip or a memory slot hidden in the laptop with 256MB of memory that runs at DDR 333. Now the laptop does not run on the hard drive for virtual memory anymore like as if it's life support!

Got a new wirless desktop kit and upgraded my old 8800GT to a GTX550Ti. :)
I'm about to replace my 8800GT too, though I'm replacing it for a more modest VGA than yours (HD 5750).

I wasn't planning on doing this but my video card is heating up too much on hot days now it's summer, can't play games for five minutes without having problems. I opened it to clean it and replace the thermal paste but it didn't solve anything so I'm replacing it.

The new card should be here tomorrow but I'm going to the beach so I'll try it only on Monday.

I installed the Nvidia driver update. Now F1 2011 doesn't randomly pause to the menu screen while I'm racing and recording at the same time, sometimes mid-corner.

Activate my Kaspersky Internet Security

Look at when it expires.

Activated right on 12:00:00 1/1/2012.

XD

And this is not fake, but done with careful timing.

I've recharged it twice with my Ipod in toe. Cleaned out all my documents, did a virus scan. A few updates and cleaned the screen to perfection 👍

Restarted my laptop after not shutting it down for 2 weeks straight (although I put it on hibernate when not in use) and updated my Firefox to 9.0.1. So far it's good and watching YouTube is no longer a problem unlike in Firefox 8.

Restored my iPhone back to iOS 5.0.1 and ran the redsn0w untethered jailbreak. Was previously running iOS 5.0 with the tethered jailbreak.

Tried to install ADSL at a friends house. No signal at all. Checked the modem/router. Nothing. Checked and swapped all the cables. Nothing.

Checked the small box on the wall. No cable coming out of the hole in the wall.

Well, there's your problem!

Monitor finally arrived! LED is so bright, thatI had to turn it down to 0! And it still hurts my eyes! Great upgrade from 1024X768!

New Giant Mousepad for my keyboard.

Desk total mess. Actually buying another soon so I can run two PCs side by side, time to separate play from work....

Got my new 2x 120mm and 2x 140mm fans in yesterday. I cleaned the dust filter this morning and I plan on installing the new fans today!

Edit: Found a CMOS battery from a dead IBM Thinkpad T30 and used it to check a IBM Thinkpad 600. It was good as dead since it still came up with the 192 error and the fan ran. Which means the motherboard is bad. Well one of these days I'm going to have to go to best buy to get 7 dead laptops recycled. I'm working on a old Compaq laptop my brother got months ago. I know my mom really wants it!

Upgraded my computer with an MSI HD 6950 graphics card. Pretty awesome to see all sorts of detail in games.

Woke it up from hibernation, checked gtplanet, hibernate again. Came back home and woke it up, listened to 1 hour of trolololo while going through artoftrolling(don't ask),played minecraft and made a collage of graphics used for the olympics for homework and will be putting it back to sleep soon.

This doesn't have to be just hardware changes does it?

I installed BB express recorder on my brother's PC so me and a friend could record a minecraft video but I had problems with the audio as the computer recorded my friends voice on skype far louder than my microphone and realtek and windows sound managers didn't let me adjust it.

You can adjust the other side's volume on Skype itself. See if that works first.

You may be able to find some sound software to adjust it, but I do not know what these software are called.

Upgraded the RAM in my MacBook Pro from 2GB to 8GB. Snow Leopard should be here tomorrow so I can install that and then get Lion going. I also ordered Parallels so I can switch between the to OS's quickly.

I'm still debating if I want to upgrade the HDD first though.

Finished sanding the cut metal parts and prepare everything to go for powdercoating next week ;)
Also cleaned the new radiators.

Got my wife's macbook pro yesterday and just got time to set it up. Seems pretty nice so far, probably should have went with the 15 inch version instead of the 17. The 17 is a lap full, but I figured it would be better for her photo editing. I've got to say though, the screen on that thing looks great. Hopefully it's got some speed when it comes to lightroom and photoshop. When she's not around I'm going to get some benchmarking software on it to see how it compares to my PC. I don't think it will be much of a match for mine, but for the price these macs cost it better be pretty decent.

Ok so last week my SSD died, got my replacement 2 days ago. I thought I was all good as I had System Image from 3 days before it died, easy as restoring the image on my new drive and I'm back ready to go! Or so I thought...

So I put it in and it was all going good, booted off my windows DVD and went restore blah blah, and the restore showed up, and it detected the SSD and I thought TOO EZ. Then it was like, oh a system drive is in use or something. So I disconnected my other HDD and then tried it again, this time it said that no suitable system drive could be found. So I thought I'd activated and partition it in Windows first , so I reconnected my old HDD and did that, and it appeared in Windows fine, etc, etc. Then I try and do it again and it still doesn't work. Using Diskpart in Command Prompt, I assign the Volume to drive C, did a 'clean all' to write 0s to the drive, formated in ntfs, copied the image from the External HDD to the Interal HDD and tried it again. And nothing worked. It was so annoying CAUSE IT SHOWS UP IN THE SCREEN AS A DRIVE TO IMAGE TOO. Anyway, then I installed Windows on it, and tried to restore it after that, and no it still didn't take.

So in the end I just did a clean install of Windows and mounted my old .VHD and just moved all my documents from it that way. Awesome way to waste 2 nights.

The only other idea I had was to create a .wim from the .vhd and image it from the .wim. But then I really couldn't bebothered. I've used Windows Imaging before and it's worked fine, but maybe it's time to investigate another imaging solution...

Symantec Ghost 8.2 is what I've used the most in an enterprise environment (The DOS version cause I'm baller). Might be overkill for home use though.

Ghost is great. Most home users go for Acronis I believe, but if you can justify Ghost, which I'm sure you could. Go for it.
