Started out extracting and labeling music like I had planned to do and eventually finished with one game. Then I decided to finally try out my family's scanner after wanting to do it for so long and never doing it:

Scanned these 2 along with many of my album covers from music CD's since I couldn't find good quality images of them and in my opinion, they turned out pretty well. It will definitely need some editing done though. I do wonder if I can change the image format it saves to for something besides JPG to get better quality images.

Oddly, Test Drive Off-Road 2 looks absolutely terrible when viewed in photo gallery, but when viewing in the Photos app, it looks much better. I wonder why. 🤔

Been making a dark mode CSS file for google search.
I really can not fathom why google has not done this yet, they've made a dark mode for youtube.

Still needs major work, but it is much easier on the eyes at night

Doesn't google have a dark theme. I get a message that dark theme is available on the search results page.

Got a mate's Vega 64 to upgrade my RX 570 from. He upgraded to an RTX 3070 a few months ago because his V64 was being a bit flakey, so he said he would be happy for me to try it out in my system and see how it works before purchasing it.

It's an absolute UNIT

Picked up a 5600x and a 2080ti. Now I'm waiting for a motherboard to arrive so I can build another pc with my old parts to sell. I was going to keep to sell to my brother, but he doesn't want it.
Use the old PC for a media center, a NAS, or encoding PC.

Not now. My brother decided to buy it after I bought a new motherboard and hard drive to finish it. I'll probably do that with the first pc I built since a 2400G can do most of that just fine. That, or I'll get another hard drive and give it to my parents since they don't have a PC.

I always intended to make a box that lived with the TV out of old components but never felt like actually spending the money on another PSU, RAM, and a small case . I got a new laptop at the beginning of the year so I finally just gave all my previous components to buddies who had even older stuff in their main PC's. My dad is pretty psyched that he'll be inheriting a 2080ti next time I get home.

Yeah. I'm not buying a mechanical hard drive for that. I was going to buy an SSD for the PC when I intended on selling it, but I wound up getting an NVME for cheaper and quicker- that was a plus.
NVMe is not that much faster for general use compared to SATA SSDs.
But its cheaper.

Spent much of the day reinstalling some of my old PC games (via virtual drive) after learning how they have to be played on the drive they're installed from. This matters to me because my disc drive is not reliable anymore, so a virtual one is needed.

Decided to fiddle with that relatively unknown Hot Wheels game I got recently and much to my shock, I actually had some success getting it to run despite it being designed for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. Getting it to run is like putting socks on a rooster, but it's doable if you have the patience to click the program 50-100 times. (no joke, sometimes it really does take that!) It seems to run fine once it boots, but I wasn't able to do much since the controls weren't working. I imagine once I get the mouse to work, I might have better luck, but until I get a serial to USB adapter for it, that ain't happening. :indiff:

I won't say too much, but I spent about an hour tonight jailbreaking my PS Vita and doing the sorts of things you do with a jailbroken PS Vita. Which, apparently, is mostly just playing games I already own on the PSN Store but in a very slightly different fashion, installed on a 128GB SD card that cost me the same as a knock-off 8GB Vita memory card on Amazon. Really cool stuff, for a certain type of person, at least.

Just bought an Asus UM425UAZ-KI023T.
First thing I have done was open it, remove the SSD Back up the drive.
Now I am installing Linux Mint on it.

Finally got my new one built. Big thanks to @Terronium-12 for helping me pick out some parts for it.

Decided to buy my mate's Vega 64 after testing it out for a few weeks. I was getting a few blackscreen issues, though those seemed to have been related to me daisy-chaining powerboards together. Whoops.

Unless the plugs for the monitors were not fully seated or the contacts internally are spread out, it shouldn't matter, power is power.
You either are making a complete circuit or incomplete circuit, but having loose plugs is slightly dangerous as the arcing that can happen can start a fire.
Also you also shouldn't run daisy chain power boards unless you really know what you're doing as you can easily exceed 2,400 watts.

Yeah, it was a bit of a janky setup with the powerboards. It was only meant to be a temporary solution, but I got lazy and left it like that for a few months.
Anyway, got everything seated properly now on a single board.

Not today, but I fixed my mouse with a good cleaning and replaced the switches. Actually opened up the switches and replaced the metal plate for the left and right buttons. Not only that, I used some BW-100 on the encoder wheel (the assembly that sends electrical signals for the scroll wheel) to get all of the dirt and grime as there was some funky scrolling going on for a while.

Finished configuring my controls for NASCAR Racing 2003 Season for my PS4 controller, I guess? This game has so many controls for things, I don't know which ones will be useful to me or not yet, but thankfully I got the essentials taken care of. Had to use a combination of Xpadder and the in-game control setup, but I feel like I have got it set up now to where I can easily pick it up and play whenever I decide to do so.

Yeah I have done something similar to my G502 mouse.
Dust gets into the scroll wheel and causes a fair bit of friction.
Fully disassembly is only way to really fix it.

Urgh... supply woes continue. I've missed the boat (probably literally) on the next batch of Corsair SF750 power supplies for the boy's build. Now Overclockers are suggesting May 2021 for the PSU. So I'm looking at a 650W Seasonic unit. I have a Seasonic in my ATX desktop, and it's been fine. Plus 650W should be enough, whether I go 3080 or 6800XT for the GPU.

So, the current spec is:
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (in the house)
  • CRYORIG H7 ULTRA 59 CFM CPU Cooler (in the house)
  • Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard (in the house)
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory (in the house)
  • Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (in the house)
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 D6 WINDFORCE OC 4GB Graphics Card (expected early-December)
  • Cooler Master MasterBox NR200P Mini ITX Desktop Case (expected mid-December)
  • Seasonic Focus SGX 650 80+ Gold Fully Modular SFX Power Supply (no delivery date yet, perhaps mid-Jan)
  • Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Wired Standard Keyboard (in the house)
  • Glorious PC Gaming Race MODEL O Wired Optical Mouse (in the house)
Should be a nice rig for him. The 1650 is an interim card pending sorting out supply of the new-generation cards. I have an ATX PSU that he can use (hanging out of the back of the case, LOL) until the SFX unit arrives
The boy's birthday is rolling around soon, and I've just bought his present. An MSI 32" OPTIX G32CQ4 2560x1440 VA 165Hz 1ms FreeSync Premium Curved Widescreen LED Monitor. He wanted to go 1440p at 165Hz rather than 4K at lower refresh.

Obviously, the GTX 1650 would struggle to drive such a panel, but when we had the budget last year to buy the rig, I saved the GPU cash to buy a 30-series card when supply sorted itself out. I had visions of him being able to afford a 3080, however the price "adjustments" mean he's only able to afford a 3060 Ti. I did a fair bit of research though, and it should be able to drive most of the games he plays at the high frame rates he wants. Out of the available supply, I plumped for the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 3060Ti Elite V2.

Both items are in stock at the retailer, and his birthday is at the end of the month. I'll let you know how he gets on.

By way of update on the build in the quoted post: I ended up being able to source a Corsair SF750 PSU before the Seasonic, so that's what went into the build. I also added 4x EK Vardar RGB fans that had just been released from my own build. The assembly was pretty straightforward, just tight in the ITX case. He's running the GTX 1650 with an ancient Dell 24" 1080p/60 monitor. It's been ticking away for him over the last 9 months, completely trouble free. The NR200P is a lovely little case, but I'll be interested to see how thermals are with the 3060 Ti

Finally finished labeling all of GT5's music I had converted to FLAC a while back after putting off on it for so long. Took quite a bit of time labeling all 239 songs from the game, but it's ready now and I'm about to put it all on my phone. Might tackle GT6 eventually, but probably not anytime soon. Thank goodness for the GTBGMLibraryEditor, it saved me so much time, otherwise, it would've taken me forever to get it done.

Luckily it only took out the motherboard and not the CPU or (especially) GPU.

So I upgraded:

Except the pump block for the first one was broken out of the box, with the threaded piece rattling around:

It doesn't look like it would fit.

But it does beautifully. I filled the case with Arctic P12s because I read that they are about 95% as good as A12x25s (seemingly only not as good because they only go to 1800rpm instead of 2000) but less than 30% of the price and I didn't want to spend $120 on fans.

Now I just gotta contact Corsair.
