So you bought another one? Seems like a waste a money since these laptops usually cost $500-$700 retail and a replacement screen + labor is around $110(What it ends up costing my clients when I got the laptops screen replaced). Though if you really needed the upgrade then you could make a excuse for purchasing a new laptop.

Yeah, I had a look and the screen will cost me about $115-$120 get here. It's only a 10" netbook, so a brand new, basically identical one will cost me ~$290. I'll find a use for the old laptop body I'm sure (Thinking about getting a projector room, might make an ok basic HTPC).

I used to replace laptop screens all the time, but every so often something else is broken as well like the wifi antenna, speakers, webcam etc, and can't really be bothered with that.
 
Replaced the case fans with Scythe SFF21Es. Got my CPU back up to 3.2GHz (from 2.4). Also, my MX1100 is on the fritz so I picked up a R.A.T. 9, the great mouse with the dorky name. But these are PCs we're talking about. Almost everything has a dorky name.
 
Swapped out the rear case fan on my computer. In preparation for a pretty decent overhaul of everything inside of it. Think: New CrossFire graphics, More RAM, Liquid Cooled CPU, etcetc.. It's coming together in the next few weeks, especially when I get bumped up to a better work schedule.

So I can get Optical out from my broken netbook/soon to be HTPC.
 
Upgraded to Firefox 5 (I still had 3.6) and updated loads of other stuff i've been putting off for ages.
 
Mozilla changed the way it upgrades Firefox. Now instead of upgrading to version 3.6.7.123532212 they just go up a whole unit. :P
 
Firefox's new upgrade numbering scheme is extremely stupid IMO. Its just a ploy to catch up to the other browsers with their higher numbers :ouch:. Would you believe that some people out there think the higher number of the browser the better :lol:

:lol: That's what I was thinking, but 5 did come out way too fast either way. 4 was a beta for the majority of it's lifespan.

I was fine with 3.6, I don't know what made me upgrade. I have chrome aswell for when other people want to use my laptop, but that hasn't been upgraded since release I believe, maybe i'll do that next :D
 
Well I troubleshooted a six year old gateway laptop(annoying to go through) and decided that it's too expensive to repair(Mobo is broken and backlight is broken) as a used Motherboards costs $175 from a small wesite and you would not want to know how much for new.:crazy:

Client is happy that I'm being honest with him and I'm going to put the laptop's hard drive in a external enclosure so my client can flip through the hard drive and get the files he needs.
 
I cleaned out my Desktop and Laptop, ran full checks using Eset Smart Security (in safe mode, of course :P) and send about 300gb files over to my NAS (which is 1TB). 👍
 
Finally got my rig together. Ran prime overnight at 3.6(stock is 3.2ghz) at 1.36v. Passed that and decided to flip the multi to 20 and now running prime at 4.0ghz with more or less stock voltage. Good stuff. No matter what though, I'm going back to 3.6 for 24/7. BE chips are so much easier than what I remember doing years ago.
I'm more than pleasantly surprised that I can OC at all on a FREE mATX mobo that has 3+1 phase and a less than robust BIOS.

pffft this laptop is on it's way out anyway, can't be bothered to upgrade when i'm getting a Desktop PC soon for everything that would justify getting Windows 7 for. It's been fine for me, there hasn't been many problems. Downgrading to XP would be hassle too

Settled on 208x18 for 24/7 duty.
Now I need to get a new case and use the old 939 setup to build the GF a PC.
Wonder if she'll mind the delta fans I wanna use?

There is nothing wrong with Vista, in the correct hands it is a very VERY stable OS, and is highly comparable to Windows 7 in terms of functionality. I actually prefer it over 7.

Not to mention with my laptop and it's integrated graphics card (Which is now outdated), Vista offers the best Driver support (Or at least on-par with 7, but better than XP)
