Reformatted and reinstalled. Didn't really want to but it was needed. I forgot how fast this system was on a clean install!!! Currently downloading drivers and all my programs. This is going to take a while!

Well, decided to run prime95 on blend at 210x19 overnight at 1.38v. Hopefully 4.0ghz is enough for 24/7. I need to try some suicide runs and see what it does.

I bought a new G510 for it (yesterday), replacing my G11:

A lot better to type on than the G11. Nice soft but firm feel to the key presses. Hard to describe unless you use one.

Installed this applet for the LCD too. Pretty useful. It's supposed to be green but the flash made it yellow for some reason!

The seller advertised it as new and all those scratches are on the screen, damnit! :(

Upgraded graphics drivers to Cat 11.8 - was a bit apprehensive as I was originally running 11.4 because .5 .6 and .7 all dropped my Crossfire performance by 15% (32.5 vs 38.5 in Unigine). However I'm pleased to report the 11.8 drivers are faster than 11.4 by some margin, Unigine went up to 40.2 :D

Most likely wasn't noticed in the announcement thread, but guess what happened here :P

RACECAR
Moving on to far better news, I thought of an idea: You guys might recall that I got a video recording device for my PS3. Well I thought "Well how am I gonna record races to my Computer?" I connected it to the TV and had no success. Try all the component parts on it and still had no success. Only then did I relize that it wasn't the TV that gave the feed, it was the PS3. So by that logic, I figured out that my DVR would be the device that would give the feed and now, I've got it working :dopey: I plan on recording alot of races and possibly posting here for those who have a hard time trying to catch them

Uninstalled internet security that came with the laptop which expired and installed Kaspersky.

In case of Symantec junk, don't forget to run the symantec removal tool.
This properly removes all Symantec Internet Security junk, otherwise it will cause problems in about a year from now( or earlier).
Stupid pre-installed internet security junk. :yuck:

Thinking of getting a Ducky Shine keyboard (When they arrive here), anyone here with any experience of Ducky Keyboards (Particularly the 9008)?

De-fragged my hard drive and backed up all my data onto a flash drive. Also cleaned the screen.

Considering updating from lenny to squeeze, but I really don't like KDE4. I already bought a new HD for it anyway, though.

There is nothing wrong with Vista, in the correct hands it is a very VERY stable OS, and is highly comparable to Windows 7 in terms of functionality. I actually prefer it over 7.

I bought a computer with Vista when it was about a day old, it had just come out of Beta. It caused more problems than it was worth, of course, 'cause it was still new and the kinks were still being worked out. In my opinion, I have worked on another Vista computer not long before 7 came out, and it is one of their least stable OS's. Just my opinion.

For the first time I haven't done anything to my laptop. But I've tweaked a few things on my phone, reinstalled windows on another laptop, sorted the air ducts out on my pc and cleaned the playstation. Normally I'd be writing programs though or tweaking my own laptop to get the max out of it, rewrite a few key things, disable a few things from the regedit etc

For a little extra money you can get a better brand. I've used this power supply in my parent's computer and it runs great. It has 40amps load on the 12V rail so you should be good to go with your build. Comes with a three year warranty.

No use to upgrading to the rosewill. It still provides nearly the same power to the 12V devices(two 12V rails at 19amps). I honestly don't think you are going to need 55amps on the 5V rail. The Antec power supply will be more energy efficient too.

The word "lenny" is ringing a bell to me but for the life of me, I can't remember the distro it is..... I'm sure its a major distro (as I recognise the name!) and I'm going to be kicking myself soon when I do realise what it is...

Used to keep up with it, but lately been slacking recently about Linux and Open Source... kinda want to get back into it again as I do miss the command line way of Linux which I find far easier than Windows ever was.

Wait, is Lenny related to Fedora? Oh, they just do numbers...

Well I noticed that my slim Blu-Ray drive in the HTPC was grinding due to pressure from the top half of the drive(laptop thin pretty much). I took the blu-ray install dvd out and just put a little pressure up to move the metal out of the way. Fixed. Nice and quiet now installing blu-ray.

Haven't done it yet, but am in progress of. I am reinstalling Windows XP on a 10 year old laptop, need to format it completely, install XP, SP1-3, DotNET etc... then I need to root my old phone for work, but I doubt that'll happen today...

Thinking of what to do with my current PC that I'm using ATM. It's about 7 years old. I'm thinking of destroying it in a fun way or selling it for like $30.

I installed core temp and found out that my i7 950 runs at about 85-95 during iracing and witcher 2. If the internet is right, then that is much higher then it should be.

Is that C or F? If it's C that is worrying... the only processor I knew that would handle those temps without a problem was the old Thunderbirds. If it's F it's not too bad actually... perhaps a larger fan would be required

Yes that is way too hot. Go get some AS5 thermal paste or my favorite GC-Extreme thermal paste(costly but I've seen it do really good on conducting heat to the heatsink) and replace the thermal paste now. Could also replace the heatsink if you use the stock Intel cooler(Good cheap one would cost $20-$30) since stock heatsinks are small most of the time and can't conduct as much as a larger heatsink can.

Edit: If that was as in 90F then you are fine! You would not have to worry about temperatures if it came up like that in Whicher 2.

Not only that, it will pay for the shipping costs of the P67 I wanted! How much is this worth?

- Celeron D @2.53, OC'D to 3.3
- 750 MB DDR RAM
- 120 GB HDD
- Radeon 7200
- Asus P4S800-MX
- 400W PSU
- A case.

I'd try selling it at $80 since it's a reasonable price for an old computer and it's specs are better than most Celerons. I'd go low as $60 since more powerful Celeron D's sell for not much more.
