Cleaned windows and installed all drivers, DX,.net and other updates new to finally rock Max Payne 3.
What a disappointment, the game is just awesome, but so bugged that it's not fun to play.
 
I would have made an image of windows after you finished installing all things before installing the game.
 
Finished my new desk this morning. It's lovely and just wide enough to fit everything that I need.

One major fault is the cabinet door. There is no handle on the door so they assume that you can open it with the key. It can work that way but it's highly irritating. Just gonna end up going to their website and demand them to give me a handle just like the ones on the drawers. Plus can't forget to also ask for the screws since the handles are designed to be tapped with screws.

The wood looks nice on that desk, but the drawers look kinda cheap. Might be my imagination though.. Are they metal handles?

No they are not. The pictures on the website made me think they were metal. Though it's not a type of plastic that's gross to handle. Actually nice for what it is. The only power tool I had to use was a handheld drill to tap some slightly pre-drilled holes for the handles.

It's actually sitting close to the the front. I can move it a good 6 inches back and thus plenty of room for it's main use, troubleshooting and computer repair. A LCD screen would actually give me a 1/3th of the table since one can place it in front of the keyboard of the mouse. You would gain the right side of the table by doing so. But my options are limited as is and it's not a crap CRT anyways.

It's wasteful to throw them out(all them bad chemicals for the animals and trees, you know) and it's a nice 15" IBM monitor too. Actually it can display up to 1600x1200 but you'd be squinting your eyes a ton!

Well someone never adjusted his CRT properly and/or had a brand with a bad looking screen.

Edit: I've moved it into my room and put everything back. It looks so nice now.

Mine kinda is broken. I can use it its recommended resolution of 1280x1024 because the picture wobbles (if that makes sense) and it gets really annoying. I plan on buying a LCD monitor once I have enough money to do so.
 
I love CRT's too, but I do so much crap at once that I need the biggest screen I can in the tiny space I have, and CRTs just take up that space.

23" 1080p here I come.
 
In the tall cabinet just visible on the left of the picture I posted are another 7 or 8 monitors along with a netbook, a notebook and 3 towers. I'm right there with you. :lol:
 
@Casio, what size are your monitors for the triple setup?
And did you have any problems setting up the side monitors in portrait mode?

I have at the moment a 30" Dell, but to buy 2 more of them it would set me back another 3000$, so I was also thinking about doing the same setup as you.
 
CRTs are actually really good for gaming and they do have very good colour production, something that LCD are only just about achieving.

Ah, nick09, that looks a bit better with the layout there, was just a bit concerned whether there wasn't enough room to fit everything there. That looks ideal and was actually one of my layouts when I had CRTs as well!
 
Yeah you don't get the ghosting effect in CRT's. That's the least I know. I know a Gateway 16" CRT that I got from a friend and which I gave to an elderly couple, had a great sharp image. It only used one one button/knob device to adjust the settings on the monitor and it was quite detailed. You could even save multiple settings if you wanted to.

Any magnet near them screws their color so that means no speakers near them.
 
Going to pick up my first proper gaming computer today! So freaking excited to put it through its paces and be able to play the games I want to properly.

I have the 27" Dell (U2711). And two side 5:4 19" put on the side. Lines up pretty well physically, but pixel wise not so much. I've been thinking about getting one of those Catleaps for another 2 27"s so I don't have to pop another $750 each side on another Dell.

I know 20" sides fit almost perfectly with the 30" model though.
 
I'll take some measurements on the weekend and go hunting ;)
3x 30" at 2560x1600 each would be anyways a little to much, even for my triple SLI.
2x 20" portrait additional is the best solution I think and should be a little bit more affordable.
How does your custom resolution work out in gaming?

You can't do surround gaming with a P-L-P setup. (At this stage anyway)

Small speakers with small magenets.

Gamers who are after good sound will use bigger speakers like the logitech Z5600s.

Bigger speakers means more powerful magnets.

On a new note.

My Radiator, CPU water block, hose, coolants and fittings came today.

Installed Photoshop and InDesign CS5 in prep for my design college. Mate of mine had the Master Collection so I got Premiere, Flash Pro and DreamWeaver too.
