Set up a Symbolic Link so that my iPhone backups are recreated to my data drive instead of sitting on the SSD which doesn't have much space.
 
In the end I didn't get any work done and had the idea of using a red gel (from red/blue 3D glasses) over the lens to block a great deal of visible light. Now all you can see is the IR LEDs, some sunlight reflecting off the PVC door in the background and annoying reflections on the filter. Going to try peeling the label off of a CD-R next, but LED diffusers would probably be much more useful.
 
I am in the process of designing a new reservoir system for my cooling tank. I have burnt up two submersible pumps already and am back to one of my swiftechs until I figure something out. I am just asking too much for these pumps I guess. Think of adding a second inline pump to help transfer from the res back into the system. I have access to some 4" clear PVC that I can make a vertical res out of with a vent/fill to atmosphere at the top to get rid of bubbles. I may not need the 10 gallon fish tank.
 
Just overclocked my 670 a bit more.

Current clock speeds:

(the striked out speeds are speeds reported by GPU-Z)


1109MHz 1280MHz as reported by EVGA Precision X and OC Scanner X - GPU Clock Speed
1756 MHz 3510MHz as reported by EVGA Precision X and OC Scanner X - Mem Clock Speed

Currently stress testing in EVGA OC Scanner X for stability but everything seems to be going so far (30 mins in) versus with my old PSU. :lol:

Oh and temps are currently @ 70C @ 80% fan speed (maximum)

^ I should totally OC my 680, it's still running at whatever the stock OC was. That is to say 1137MHz GPU and 3005MHz memory, yet the hottest it's EVER been is 67C. I just tried cranking the fans up to 88%, sounds horrible.
 
Ordered 2 WD 1Tb raptors and a capture card (finally:embarrassed:).
Hopefully I get them by Thursday :nervous: so I have the weekend to play with the capture card.
 
Considering getting a new graphics card for mah Acer (Aspire 5734Z-4836). What is the best one I should get?

You can do that with some specific laptops, but the one you have uses onboard video so unfortunately you cannot add a graphics card to it.
 
Tried to OC my 3570K.

For some odd reason it is stuck on 3700Mhz the whole time even after loading defaults.

You could try resetting the CMOS, thats what I did after troubles with overclocking.

Reloaded defaults several times.

Ended up reflashing with the same version which is the latest and it's fixed.

Running a 4Ghz Turbo OC, will bump it up higher later on.
 
I ordered a new wireless card and mouse. Also I finally updated my motherboard drivers to the latest to try and stop a freezing problem I have been having. So far so good...

Have you updated the Bios also?
I have the same board as you and was also getting the odd freeze/BSOD. Since updating the Bios to F16 (was on F6) around six weeks ago I haven't had one issue.
My 2500k has been at 4.0ghz for the six weeks and is running nice and cool.

Well it froze again last night so I'm going to upgrade the bios next. Thanks for the tip! :) I'm currently on F8 I think.
 
Since the old HD got broken, had to buy new one, so I installed along with the new PSU, put some Win 7 on it and now I'm trying to get back everything that went to the sink on the last HD.

Getting my Steam library on again, is taking forever, but at least I can try Planetside 2 and ArmA II, which run great despite my basic setup.
 
Updated my BIOS to the latest version, installed a new wireless card, got a cheap gaming mouse for £6. Had a bit of a scare when I thought I would have to buy I new windows activation code, but guys on here helped me so is all good.
 
I became fed up with windows telling me "Low Disc Space" followed by driver errors and random nonsenical shenanigans such as cutting my youtube videos short so I threw in my 840 Pro that I got a while back and am in the process of reinstalling everything.
 
Things done to my home desktop.

6GB to 8GB RAM on my home desktop
Replaced ancient geforce 210 with Geforce GTX 650 TI
Replaced one intake 120mm and one exhaust 180mm fans.

Didn't get much time to test, but went from a crappy 25fps on Diablo3 on low settings to ~80fps on high settings (D3 changed graphics settings on it's own, so didn't get chance to tweak it out)

Went from not being able to play Planetside2 as FPS were in the 10-20 range, up to a good consistent 50-60. Once again didn't get to change the settings around very much.

Didn't get to try out simraceway or Iracing to see what happens, but am excited.

Not the greatest graphics card, but that was my budget for it and I think it was a pretty good deal on a GTX650TI, when I had almost resorted to getting a 7770 instead.

Replaced my old 100basetx switch with a gigabit switch, since half the stuff hooked up to it is now gigabit capable. Now I need to figure out why everything's still at 100 Mbits on it, even with cat6 cables.

Couple things:

1. You can change the setting in the network card (on pcs) from auto-negotiate speed to a set speed rate. Usually by default they are set to auto.

2. Who did the termination for the cat6? You don't need cat6 for gigabit, but where the wire insulation ends and the rj-45 adapter is, there should be less than a 1/2 inch of exposed wire. Ideally the wire insulation should be pushed into the rj-45 adapter.

3. Are your cables run by any high voltage cables or something could be causing interference?

4. Try a device that is connecting at gigabit speed to a network cable that's not connecting at gigabit speed.

EDIT: I misread your post saying that you don't have anything connecting at gigabit. Sorry.

1. Tried that, didn't matter.
2. Whoever manufactured the prepackaged cable(s).
3. Not that I know of. In one case, definitely not.
4. That's my next step.

Here's my setup:
I have a wireless router with four gigabit ports connected to the cable modem.
I have the above mentioned 8 port switch connected to one of the router ports. I have a nas box connected to one of the other three ports on the router; that gigabit connection is working. I have a less-than-a-year-old desktop and a week old laptop, both of which have gigabit interfaces, both of which are connected to the switch, both of which connect at 100 Mbps. I also have a TV and Bluray player connected to the switch, no idea what their network speeds are. Lastly I have a 7- or 8-year old machine with a 10/100 interface and a PS2 connected to the switch.

Now, I know the old hubs would operate everything on its segment at the speed of the slowest connection. But that's one of the distinguishing features of a switch; if device A and device B communicate through the switch, they will communicate at their fastest (negotiated) speed even if there is another device at a slower speed on the same switch. Or that's the way it's supposed to work, anyway. The switch in question is a Netgear ProSafe GS108v3.
 
I should have updated my own thread for this but since I was too lazy to take photos of the swap.. I took out my old ATI Radeon X1950XTX CFE card and swapped it for a brand new AMD Radeon HD 7750 made by XFX. Good lord it has made a difference on EVERY single game I own, and opened up my computer to many more games as well. Best part of this? I didn't pay a single penny for it. My friends wanted to play SWOTR with me really badly for some reason so they ended up pitching in a bit of money and bought me the card so I could play.
