What is one thing you hate the most about GT?

As an owner of both Frozas and four of the best PC sims, I've found complaining about the AI is completely overblown. After racing online in Prologue, I've found the bots to race pretty much the same as the guys I raced online, save for a couple of tards.

In GTR Evo, the bots bunch up like bugs in the chicanes. I haven't seen much better in other games. Ferrari Challenge, which is basically FM2, same deal. Oh, except you have all of two seconds to pass them, then they slam right into you. Paying attention to you once in a while... I'm thinking this isn't such a big deal, but that's just me.

I would say AI.

In all my years of racing games and simracing, I've never once encountered one that had *good* AI. So GT is not alone in this respect.

Personally, I've never got why AI programmers can't follow the simplest of basic rules: "When getting close to the player's car, steer *away* from the player's car." Like, what humans do on the track, in general.

So easy to program, so hard to get into a programmer's mind it seems.

I don't think it's that easy, but it's a good "bad-thing" in GT. When you brake to fast, other drivers behind you don't try to overtake you but just also brake early. I'm not someone of the online options but hope there will be a friend-list invite option to drive on a track with two players online. I hope the damagemodel will be great and add some more realistic feelings to the racing...

Lack of atmosphere and life. This a totally personal thing, but I find that as the GT series has gone forward in so many ways, it has turned into quite a rigid, sterile game.

GT5 could save the day with this. I can imagine car damage + good multiplayer features like private lobbies, track-day/free practice type events, owners clubs, guilds, auction house, paint shop etc.. making the game suddenly way more fun to play. I'm skeptical though, as this area doesn't seem to be PD's strong point.

The tame, tame racing. GT has so much appeal as a driving game alone, but I rarely feel like I'm racing. Again, good online-mode will solve this.

I've hated the menus since gt3. I hate the overproduction, I hate the aggressive synth jazz, I hate the slowness and being asked if I am sure. I used to love gt1 and gt2 menus - bring them back!

Attempting to include rally. I respect the ambitiousness, but I'm very very doubtful that it'll ever even come close to the best rally dedicated games out there. They should just team up with Colin McRae Rally and let them handle that part or something :P

The sounds of the cars. But I think this has just been a memory issue up until now, so can't hold it against them.

The maker is so disconnected from it's fans, and that none of these criticisms or requests will ever be read. This, however, goes hand-in-hand with another fact: The games are made by a man who is 100% passionate, and making it in his vision, and his alone. Despite the various things I hate about current GT's, I am VERY hopeful, because I think Kaz' vision is just as ambitious as any of ours, and lord knows he loves cars, and is probably the hardest working 'puter games maker the world has ever seen. Most of what I don't like, I know he's already working on it while I sleep, lol.

p.s. I totally couldn't agree more about the billiard board smooth tracks. The few lumpier tracks have always seemed the most fun and involving to me, but they are still missing all the little cracks and undulations that could potentially make the whole game come alive at your fingertips. But I couldn't say I hate GT for it's tracks - they have made some great ones.

that's the thing. we can all complain about this or that, but at least PD have tried to resolve things in the past. but then if things were perfect people would still have to find something to complain about! I always thought there seemed to be less vibration in 4 then in the previous 3 but that might just be me

just take a look at any low quality in board video on you tube, listen to the sounds ,feel the whole ambiance and thrill you get by just watching, not playing, and then you realise the lack of realism is way bigger than you thought on gt5p.and what about physics, unreal donuts,no skidmarks, too many unecessary tires....

You may need to explain this more.

Preferably with proper capitalization and spacing.

this is the point of view of a G25 steering wheel user
question:
how come i get more fun driving the ruf yellow bird on the nordschleife in GT4 than the nissan gtr on suzuka in gt5p?
answer :
the lack of sensations.
let me explain
gt5p lacks the sensation of speed,if you don't get a 500 HP car you get bored.
just figure out the fun you can get in real life driving a 200 HP golf gti in the streets of london,so how come it's so boring doing it in the game...i think there's a lot of improvment to be done for a better realism.

Need some periods? Here take some.... .. .... ..

I hate the fact that all cars in GT stops working when on grass/sand/poo/puke etc...
A car spins out if you putt full throttle on mud/sand, not die out and idle...

I hate Renault Clio's overpowered noob users...

I hate the slow menus that has to load every tiny section (especially online)

I hate Renault Clio

I hate the Penalty System

I hate Renault Clio

I hate that it has to much drafting force

I hate Renault Clio

I hate that the game screen tears all the time (put V.sync on the game)

Did I mention that I hate Renault Clio, if not I still hate Renault Clio

You know when you connect online and you get that globe with the fancy little light wrapping around it as it loads? Why is that screen completely different than the rest of the UI in GT5p? Did they outsource the online portion of the game to a different place?

I'd have to say 'opponents' (AI/Punters, you know who you are) and the private restricted race rooms can't come soon enough. With being able to install the game onto my HDD (like a 360) will be a close second since Sony seems to refuse to acknowledge improving that.

no skid marks, engine sounds,no reverse lights, drivers hands turn half way and not 900degrees,tire squeling, hands of driver do not shift on the paddels on regular cars except the f1 hhmm? grfx of the tire or rims of the vehicles get crappy looking when in motion.( can really tell when the car is stoped and when u accelerate, the rims look graphically less quality while moving from a stop ) driver doesnt pull the E-brake, but i think the ebrake seems to be stuck in place non movable kuz the the ebrake is always up, or on park. crappy background enviroment, ( not that u kan tell, but when throughly observing the enviroment dont look to good, and the water/lake/ or ponds are still. crappy smoke effect, side view mirrors quality sucks, i dont remmeber if the rear view one is like dat i dont thinkso, and i think thats it... hopefully they fix most of these issues in GT5 Oh and the AI needs work ofcourse

how come i get more fun driving the ruf yellow bird on the nordschleife in GT4 than the nissan gtr on suzuka in gt5p?

Well, if they modeled both cars correctly, the Yellowbird will always be more fun to drive than the computer controlled GTR. Regardless of whether it's GT4 or GT5p.

Arvin...just got back from Clearwater and St. Pete (I live in Wisconsin). Was there for a week and a half for vacation. AWESOME place to visit. We have added that to our possible list places to move to. Clermont was nice too, but a bit far from the ocean.

Glad you enjoyed it. And I agree, the whole point of moving to FL is being close to the water. As an example, I would never move to Orlando...

Back on topic. I really dislike the penalty system. I do like how TOCA 3 implemented theirs though.

I hate the lack of communication between us fans and the developers, i don't know if PD reads any of the comments on GTP but other games companies have set up forums where they are in close contact with the community. I know there japanese but there should be someone on the team that speaks english.

I get frustrated by the lack of any release date info, what can be the problem in just telling us when we will be able to buy it?

If there is unknown changes to be made to GT5 PD would want to fix them before the game is on the shelves ( maybe within a bundle deal we don't know ).Saying that glitches were found in GT2 and GT3.If they didn't find the faults and release it PD & Sony could possibly lose it's fans and new customers, but that is the worst situation.

I agree. Also the ammount of secrecy is redicolous.

I hate having to turn assists off on every car individually.

yeah i agree, i don't like the menus and loading, too many menus, too much waiting around, too much loading

I hate the fact that all cars in GT stops working when on grass/sand/poo/puke etc...

And I only asked for one thing you hate the most:crazy:

One thing that 'grinds my gears' is that when you won (for example) the 2CV Cup in GT4 (or whatever it was called) you would win a 2CV in a 'special colour'. I don't want a PINK 2CV as a prize!!!! But... i'm completing the game so I have to win a *gulp* ... pink... 2CV.... 👎 :yuck:
