What is one thing you hate the most about GT?

It might have been mentioned in here already, but for me, it's the realism. Real Driving Simulator's great and everything, but just about every single gamers around me has dropped the game(franchise), because they can't even drive in it.

The first three, it was just the poor gamers who couldn't drive in it. By the fourth, even the decent gamers were sweating just trying to stay on the track.

The whole point of the game, the realism, is pleasing the select few, while pushing away most of the fan base. And I do realize that in the pursuit of more realism, this was eventually going to happen. But I also personally feel that there must be a balance to keep the majority happy, and that balance was broken a while back. Sometimes, I do wish that there were two Gran Turismo games. One for the mainstream, and one for the hardcore.

The game still sells well, but I'm betting the online traffic could be a whole lot better, if the game was a bit more approachable to more racers.

This is why we have two physics modes now, "Standard" seems even easier than GT4 to me and I wouldn't be against making it even easier again. As long as we still have a proper "professional" modes :D

I don't think it's the increased realism of the physics that is the reason people find it hard to drive in prologue as being the sole contributor, but more the poor implementation of force feedback effects. I mean driving a real car isn't hard, even going fast on a track in real life isn't difficult, but it is in GT5p, following this line of reasoning it would be logical to assume that therefore GT5P is unrealistic, otherwise it wouldn't be so hard to drive. Hell we would all be dead, if real cars acted like they do in prologue, but i beleive this is due to lack of communication between player and car through the wheel, not necessarily the car physics themselves.

Really good point, dan. 👍 Control may be the wall most casual fans ran into. I could never pinpoint the problem, but at least for me, that seems where the game got away from me.

I have a copy of the game, but I didn't even know that. :p But I don't think any "easy" mode will bring in additional millions of players. Notice I said "players" rather than customers. I still think the game sells well, but hell a lot more people could be playing it!

I hate that I've never been able to choose my selection of cars on my selection of track with my number of laps...

For example I want to race an S1 Elise, a VX220, an S2 Elise, a Tesla Roadster, an S1 Exige and an S2 Exige on the Cote D'Azure (Monte Carlo) track for 5 laps without mucking about in the options menu's.

And I disagree strongly with other people's hates: License tests have taught me more about driving on track days than the track days themselves, even the straight line braking and acceleration tests... if you think you don't need them, then I presume you can get a Gold first try on them all and it should only take you an afternoon to complete them all, so what's the big deal?

I also strongly disagree with the AI comments... admittedly in some cases it feels more like a track day than an actual race, the way they are too courteous about overtaking, but to me this is more realistic than most games that have cars all over the track trying to overtake or swerve to avoid you. I have also shown a few people the cars swerving to avoid you when you sit stationary in the middle of the track, much to their surprise.

My other pet hate is that I can rip CD's to the PS3's hard drive, but I can't play them in any games and GT is where I want to hear them most :( btw I rip in the high quality proprietry Sony format, not to .mp3.

no skid marks, engine sounds,no reverse lights, drivers hands turn half way and not 900degrees,tire squeling, hands of driver do not shift on the paddels on regular cars except the f1 hhmm? grfx of the tire or rims of the vehicles get crappy looking when in motion.( can really tell when the car is stoped and when u accelerate, the rims look graphically less quality while moving from a stop ) driver doesnt pull the E-brake, but i think the ebrake seems to be stuck in place non movable kuz the the ebrake is always up, or on park. crappy background enviroment, ( not that u kan tell, but when throughly observing the enviroment dont look to good, and the water/lake/ or ponds are still. crappy smoke effect, side view mirrors quality sucks, i dont remmeber if the rear view one is like dat i dont thinkso, and i think thats it... hopefully they fix most of these issues in GT5 Oh and the AI needs work ofcourse

Go to school tomorrow please... Don't skip. :banghead:

Clarkson approves this message. 👍

The cars they took out of GT5P at the last minute.

THE TREES! AAAAHHHH!
No, seriously, I'd say the lack of forward driving force from spinning tires. If I can only choose one.
2nd would be.... drafting, way to much, way to soon. Make it less speed gained from drafting, and make the cars be closer to pick up the draft.

I hate most the lack of sense of speed , there is no driving sim that feels slower than GT my biggest complain...

that's because the graphics are better. If they blurred everything, it'd be like the fast and furious "NOS" cam:lol: So fast!

GT5P has really realistic sence of speed. Even if you play iRacing which is considered to be #1 sim of all time, it has THE SAME sense of speed.

Maybe you play NFS games bit too much and watch 2Fast 2Furious with damn BLUR effects.

Heck go drive a car on a High Way at 65MPH look at the signs in front, and they take AGES to pass you. Same thing in GT5, since it's a simulator, car does not accelerate on Demand, as well it does not take corners at 130 mph. It seems slow , but thats how real life is.

a very good example which most people can check out quite easily 👍

You think so? Ohmmm please go away with NFS and such... I own a car and I drive it ,and when I drive like 65 mp/h on a high way and look out the site window it looks way faster than in GT5P thats my opinion... and when i watch videos where cars driving like 190mp/h it looks way way faster than in GT5P. And when i drive like 30 mp/h on the street and 30mp/h in GT5P it looks slower for me , just my opinion ;)

In real life, there more things for you to look at (parks, stores, etc.) and when your going by something stationary, it seems fast. Where as GT is on racetracks, where there is almost nothing to look at (couple trees.... well that's about it). Therefore, it would SEEM like it's slower when it really isn't.

Try this little exercise to see if it helps your in game distance perception:

When you are driving towards a section of roadworks on the motorway/freeway, try and take notice of how long it takes to pass each warning sign as you are getting closer, in the uk these tend to be about 200 metres apart from each other.

You will then be able to compare the time it takes to approach certain corners in GT as some of them do have marker boards on approach, (the end of the straight at fuji is a good example for this exercise.) If you match the approach speed with your real life road speed, it should take you the same amount of time to cover the same distance as marked out by the corner boards in the game as in real life.

what frys my head is no damage slow response to load. not the best music well depends on what you like

Slow response to load? Do you mean loading times? GT5P takes the least amount of time to load compared to any of my other PS3 games, which is pretty impressive considering the fact that it's pushing 16 highly detailed cars at 60 fps all in 1080p.

ohmm well... lets stop the discussion about sense of speed , back to topic :)

That is cause he lost the arguement...
What I don't like is the amount of time it took in GT4 for the modifications took to be applied. In GT2 it took no time at all, and in GT4 it was an age. I'm don't know about GT5:P as I don't have it but I hope this changes for GT5:Proper :D
👍

Very true, purchasing parts in GT is a bit of a chore. I completely forgot about that.

Also, if you're hotlapping, do a few laps going regular highway speeds (65-70 MPH) in sixth gear like you're actually on a regular road. Then after maybe the second or third lap kick back to third gear and floor it. Part of the problem is you get used to going that fast, so when you go slower, you actually get to appreciate the sense of speed. This also works for sound. GT5P sounds seem kind of soft but after that, you'll apreciate the engine noises and loudness of it also.

I don't like the online. If you hit a barrier you lose about 5 seconds and then go into an uncontrollable spin (for me anyway). And doing time trial again when you hit a barrier you get lap time not invalidated.
