Nice car, I use a Scooby to win this set of races when I'm short of cash, You can sell the Nissan for £318.000

👍

It was in GT Concept with a non turbo engine. Had to win a gold in a licence test to get it. Fit it with a stage 4 turbo and you'll have one freakin quick car if you dont mind the increase in tread ware.

The "Fairlady" is called a 350Z in Europe, mainly because people would think that Fairlady is a pretty ridiculous name for a car. Also pronunciation issues - the Renault Clio is the Lutecia in the Japanese version.. and so on. There are tons of examples of differing names that show up, because of the heavy Japanese-car base. (what's wrong with European cars?? The power outputs from our 2 litres would send an American running, with their 4.5litre lazy monsters kicking out just enough power to turn over (not counting sports cars here))

You said it. Though GT4 has the biggest number of european cars in the history of GT but still. More please!

Absolutely nothing, which is why you don't see many in the animated advertisement for Japanese cars that is the GT series. We get a few of the good ones from our side of the water tho' so I'm not going to moan too much.

The only thing that gets my goat a tad is that the games are falsely 'educating' (aka brainwashing) the younger generations, who don't know any better, that Japanese cars are 'good' in a sports car sense rather than just being fairly cheap and very reliable (until they rust anyhow).

The NSX is an exception to the "not sporty" generalisation in that it's almost in the same league as a Lotus Esprit.

All a bit inflamatory I know, so I apologise for having an outspoken opinion, but Japanese cars are getting such 'good press' from the GT series that it needs to be aired more often that, in reality, their cars are more "Shipping at Tesco's" than "Gran Turismo" (and no responses about 1000HP Skylines please, a Zonda, or other European equivalent, would eat one for breakfast)..

I'm fully aware that it is called the Fairlady in Japan and 350Z in Europe... however in my PAL version of the game that car is called the "Fairlady" and not the 350Z?

Hence the fact that I called the name change.

Stop this my european car is better than your japanese car please.
Have you driven a GT-R or a NSX? Are you saying NSX, RX-7, GT-R, 300ZX and Supra are not sport cars? Go check out some facts and see if NSX is in the same league as a Lotus Esprit. I know Zonda is great, but do you know the differences between Supercars and Sport cars?

Wow .. this thread got real off topic real quick. Can we please stop the european is better than japanese is better than american discussion? Its gone on too many times and always ends in a flame war like what is starting. So please, for the good of the forums stop it. I see this thread getting closed in the near future.

Quite true VTGT07.

The threads subject has been covered and I've packed away my soapbox so there shouldn't be any more vitriol to be found here.

You've taken offence for no reason. sukerkin is right.

"in reality, their cars are more "Shopping at Tesco's" than "Gran Turismo""

Note the word "MORE". There's always exceptions - Honda's NSX, Toyota's Supra, Mazda's RX-7, Nissan's Skyline and so on. But for every NSX there are 70,000 Jazzs, Civics, Accords etc.

Toyota made 12,000 MkIV Supras. And 25 MILLION Corollas.

sukerkin's other point was that if you then go on about 1000hp Supras and Skylines, any number of equally-expensive to buy/build European supercars would leather them on anything but straight lines.

And Esprit > NSX. I love both, but that's that - with the possible exception of the newest NSX Type-R, but even that's close.

Famine drives a Japanese V6 sportscar.

No kidding. But for the record, I fully support sukerkin's opinion about the insulting lack of balance in this series.
