What is wrong with the online racing and people discriminating ???

This could all be solved if psn removed the flags. It would be an extreme measure but it will get rid of all this.

you'd still be racing people from all over the world, and people can offer their nationality info if theyd like.

Where the dude who beat you is from isn't all that important. The race is the important part.

I was really looking forward to the online part of this game, but the few times that I raced online, I kept getting punted around or people were on their headsets cursing and saying racial slurs.

I really think it would be fun to have a race setup with people from all different countries. Not to show who's country is better, but you don't have to speak the same language to race. I understand the lag issues here, and that most people like to talk. I would just like to interact with people from different countries. Oh and I saw one lobby that said "Eff Chinamen" Who would want to join a lobby like that? I need to try to get involved with the GTP events, but I just haven't had time lately to play at all.

I'm in favor of forcing people to take a serious IQ test before granting internet access of any kind.

That would definitely improve the signal/noise ratio and the quality of the internets 👍

I was in a room last night, and there was 1 guy who had his mic on, for the full length of the free run he was calling everybody a ******....<<< (N-word) It lasted at least 15 minutes, and I really wondered where he got the energy from..

Checked his PSN, sent him a message, and I reported him, I hate retards.

Nice ironic follow through.

I remember a time before the internet when people were more polite in communications. But whatever, I just ignore people that aren't tolerant of others. Or I should say, I try to ignore them. Still, I do have my own issues with the dumb or ill informed...

And I'm 300 lbs, can't turn right, everything I drive is a muscle car and have some sort weird relationship with a cousin. 👍

Now we can all get along.

Yeah, but do you have a MULLET? BTW, I'm eating pork skins right now and drinking a YooHoo. Dang, them is good.

I can kind of see the argument for wanting to be in a room where everyone speaks the same language for the same reason online poker rooms only allow chat in certain languages. It is normally to avoid collusion but that argument is weak but we have all seen some crazy things happen during online racing.

However, the whole "no n-words", "no asians", "no left-handed people" **** needs to stop. It is uncalled for and there should be stricter penalties for people who start these rooms.

I can understand some specific rooms and the reasoning. I'll play with anyone, but a few nights ago I got into a room with some Canadians from Quebec and they were speaking French, I muted them all because I personally find Quebec french to be a very difficult language to listen to. It's nothing against them personally and they were great to play with, but without a mute option I wouldn't have been able to stay in the room.

And any room with a title that is derogatory is a great indication that it's not a room I want to be in.

I really think racism is a big problem in GT5 I've heard people say "kick the Chinese fool" and they kick me even before I enter I wish people will just stop discriminating
It is.. I have been called N-word Spook and the like many times and I am nice online. I cant run Nascar online!! And yes, I have been in room where if the host of the room does not know that persons flag, they will get kicked for no reason. I will start reporting some of these retards online. I am to old for this ****.

So yuo reported a guy for using a racial slur, then follow it up by using a derogatory term for the handicapped? Pot, meet kettle.

I think also reporting them is the best a room with the name NO ASIANS has to be removed from ever again playing on playstation net !!

I actually disagree here, someone should be allowed to ban Asians from their room if they want to and as long as they are not abusing people, they shouldn't be banned for it. I would never go in a room with people who share these views and I don't agree with them, but they should be allowed to have them. Of course Sony will probably not see it this way, what with everyone thinking they can stop discrimination, you can't though, infact it's a necessary part of life.

I don't even know where to begin with this. It's so wrong on so many levels. If one wants to race only with 'certain' people, it's their prerogative. And they can do so by opening a private lobby using 'My Lounge'. Or if they want to open a public lobby and name it to suggest only people from a certain region enter (for lag reasons) I can accept that.

However, there is no legitimate basis for opening a 'public' lobby and discriminating based on sex, race or religion. None.

You don't know for certain the reason that they don't want any Asians and a private lobby will require these sort of people to have friends and why would anyone want to be their friend. By wanting to ban them, you are discriminating against them. It's best just to ignore these sorts of people and race in other rooms.

Ah yes, political correctness gone wrong. So nice.

Handicapped = Handicapped.

Racist = retard.

It's really simple!

Well sad but that's how the world ticks... I went some online racing for the first time yesterday and found a nice hothatch room with mostly english people, I was the only not native english speaking person in it... so far so good... as soon as the race started I could hear them chat about me and had to "drive" against them pushing, ramming, sudden braking. Still had some fun as it was the first online race for me ever...

However, I will try other rooms and there have to be some good friendly to all and clean racers out there!

I think the language and geographical restrictions are quite routine. You speak French you want other French guys in the room with you, that's great. The rest of the stuff, the hate, the discrimination, the small minded people...well you've got thousands of people playing online, millions owning it...you're bound to have a little bit of everything and unfortunately bigotry and ignorance are a part of that.

Takes some time and more patience, but one of the solutions is to start hosting your own rooms. When I host, I have zero tolerance for a whole lot of things. Room title says "Nascar" in it? You pull out of the pits in anything but a Nascar I don't ask questions I don't ask you to change your car, I just boot you. Start calling someone n*gger or sp*c or making fun of someones heritage or any number of other things along that line, no questions, no warning, just gone. Over time, people will recognize your name, friend you, and look for you when you are online because you run a clean, efficient room, something that is very hard to find when going through random rooms. I don't host much but these are the kinds of rooms I go into. Most of the time when I'm looking to race, I'm looking through the community section to find guys I know that run good rooms and hook up with them, rather than randomly searching for a lobby.

Dude I hate to break it to you, but ramming, pushing and sudden braking is online racing...lol. You've got to do some surfing, try different rooms, and befriend the good hosts and fair drivers. Eventually you won't have to do random rooms too often and it'll make you're online life much easier. Don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, but Canadians usually make for good hosts and fair racers. Not always of course, but politeness and courtesy are a big part of our culture and I notice it even online, that Canadians tend to be a little more laid back. Not always of course...but it's a good bet.

I do not agree with your opinions sir! But I will defend your right to have them!

personally i dan't race much online, so i haven't noticed this racsim stuff, but I do notice lots of sore losers.

Like People turning around and smashing into me because they are losing, and some of the other stuff mentioned above. BS!:ouch:

It's the anonymity of the online world. People are more than happy to run their mouths when they don't have to worry about getting their asses kicked.

Yeah that's a huge part of it too. No one has ever talked to me in real life the way I hear people talking online, about me and others. The other day I was in a GT500 room, leading the race and the host braked really late heading into a hairpin, lap 1 of a 5 lap race on Daytona Road Course. Plenty of straighaways to pass on but on cold tires he's gotta divebomb me because so much is riding on this victory (sarcasm). So I said, sitting in the grass watching the field roar by, "oh man come on, ". Most guys I race with would just have said sorry and it's no big deal. Not this guy. This guy laid into me swearing and cursing up a storm, and said he was gonna kick me from the room as soon as the race was over...and he knocked me off the track...lol.

yup i was just going to post a thread about this. I saw a room called something along the lines of "Real Nascar, No Brazilians". :grumpy:

Its ok to prevent Lag by staying in one country. Maybe also because of the chat. But Such rooms are named "please only german" or else.

However as soon as it gets racist or simmilar:
Please grief play them until they close such lobbys. ! Ty
:)
Laughed irl at that! :D

I joined a drifting room the other night, and the host was asking everybody if they were African American (for lack of another word), and if they were, he would boot them. This completely pissed me off, instead of racing, this guy was bullying people virtually. That was the last time I entered some one else's room online... I have Call of Duty black ops and modern warfare, and i have to say that GT5 has some of the most close-minded players online. If they're not racist, they're ramming you, and if they're not ramming you, they're driving backwards around the track. Anything for attention I suppose but its getting annoying.

French and Spanish are bad for kicking me out for the crime of having a British flag next to my name, I would say French being the worst for it! Dirty drivers too!

If I ever start a room, the first option that gets taken is mics disabled. This said I was in a room where most people were parked up, keyboard insulting each other instead of driving.
