What is your driving style?
Oversteer/Understeer
do you go hard on tyres or preserve them?
How do you get onto the throttle, jab it or are you progressive

Which driver would you compare yourself too?
go into detail some detail and just tell us about your racing!

I prefer a little understeer if anything and I generally go easy on my tyres.

Drifting doesn't come naturally to me as I prefer a more precise line - slow in and fast out - though I do like to push the limits of braking into corners to gain the advantage.

I prefer a tight handling car with plenty of mechanical grip and don't care much for those cars that are rabidly tail-happy.

But that's just me... :D

Wow, its like I have a twin. Although I will add I prefer AWD cars as they allow me to do what I like, accelerating as much and brake as little as possible.

Some oversteer, but I like the car to be stable and not crazy tail happy.
Throttle application depends. Most of the time its progessive, but sometimes i feather it.
I am not kind to my tyres, but I don't destroy them completely either. I don't really slide around too much.

I sometimes go into a corner aggressively with a little slide and then that gives me a good line out of the corner.

It doesn't work with some cars though and I'm usually smooth and like to preserve my tyres most of the time if I don't need to put in fast times.

I prefer RWD cars and I like a setup which allows a little oversteer on the way out, that allows me to correct my line with throttle if need be. I also like to take the slow in fast out approach and let the car run wide to the kerb on exit.

And I always try to be as smooth as possible, especially on track like Suzuka and the Nordschleife

I like oversteer but not too much. Ferrari 458 on sport soft is perfect.
I'm aggressive and wear out my tires quite a lot. Without ABS I would lock up in most corners LOL.

i like braking late into corners and my throttle application is mainly progressive. i tend to prefer braking only once for a corner - as opposed to applying it several times around the corner - unless it's to save the car from leaving the track.

i prefer that the car is pointing in the direction i want to go before accelerating as i don't like the back end stepping out. this means i lose time out of the slower, tighter corners like the left-handed turn 5 at Fuji GT because i enter the corner from as wide as possible to straighten out the corner - in effect lengthening the distance the car travels.
i tend to be faster out of the less acute corners due to my brake hard-(drift slightly)-accelerate hard [slow in/fast out] style.

as for car characteristics, i love it when the car i'm driving is pointy (turns easily) but not deceptively so: when i go around the quick right-left at the top of the hill before the tight hairpin at grand valley speedway i sometimes feel as though the car will cope with the corners at the speed i'm going but then, because the car is going over a crest as the track goes left (lightening the steering as a result) i drift wide and find myself having to slow the car down some more... i'm happiest when i can apply my usual slow in/fast out style effectively around this section of the track.

i'd say i have a smooth driving style overall (similar to jenson button), preferring a fast but tidy lap over a ragged one which may be 3-4 tenths quicker but my tyre wear suffers because of the spring rates and camber i use.

i prefer a rwd car with neutral handling. i dont like under- or over-steer. but if i have to choose, i would prefer oversteer than understeer.

i try to be smooth, as i find that i am a lot faster when i'm smooth and not use tires too much.

On the pad I like a lot of oversteer, but with my wheel just a touch of oversteer is all I like, the problem being i'm not as quick putting opposite lock on with the wheel and tend to loose it. I don't run any traction control andfind that sometimesit bites!
If I understeer I tend to brake or back off to much and run straight on.

My favorite cars are all rwd.

Madman.

The more I play this game, the more and more loose I prefer the car.
When setting up a car, every tweak is focused on oversteer.

I prefer a touch of right-foot oversteer. My Chrome Line M3 is entirely too much fun with it's very predictable rear end. You can tell seconds ahead of time when the back end is going to start walking, which is something I don't notice from other vehicles. I don't drift, but that car makes me want to.

And I usually abuse the tires despite the fact that I'm trying to go easy. I blame late, late braking, so it's my own fault. :P

As for throttle, that depends on the car and the corner. As of late, though, I tend to ease the throttle more than in the past.

Perfectionist.

Stick rigidly to the racing line, have gearing memorized for each track so I change up/down at the precise moment every single time. I'm not a very good racer because the AI in GT5 is absolute tosh and I don't race online. I'm a time trial person.

Neutral is best IMO slow in fast out as others have said is the best way for time. Depending on the corner i hit full throttle at the apex.

If im just goofing off i do like a good drifter not overly so tho like a RR RUF but a nice little ass wiggle on the way out is fun.

I definitely am rather bullyish in the corners taking the better lines and making others brake or crash into me.

Im fairly easy on my tires not out of conscious effort just how i drive as for who id sompair myself to it have to be Ayrton Senna on the track i race to win off the track im a friend to all.

I like a little oversteer. If not a neutral car like one of the JGTC NSX's is my ideal. Understeer really annoys me since my driving style is pretty aggressive and I like to slam the throttle going out. Understeer means I get a good entry and then keep sliding towards the outside of the track when I apply throttle. If I have some oversteer I can just go into a slide and apply some countersteer and still go pretty fast.

My style is very much RR/MR oriented and I suppose "loose" is the way to put it. But not in the "exhibition-style-drifting" sense of loose. In the classic sense of the word where the rear of the car swings around a turn gently due to the pendulum effect. I'm not much good in FF or AWD cars because they tend to understeer to much for my tastes. Some FR cars work for me also, especially ones where the engine is set far back (E-type). I pretty much like any car that's extremely nimble, even if that makes it twitchy and difficult. Yellowbird, BTR, Alpines, Lancia Stratos, Ferrari 512, etc. etc. Generally I despise understeer and expect a car to rotate aggressively when I lift off the throttle, so I much prefer cars with the engine as far-back as possible, especially the older one's which are far less tame than the modern variety. I prefer cars that steer as much with the throttle as they do with the steering wheel and where I really have to master the weight-balance and weight-shifting to drive the car well. It's difficult, but rewarding. This is my real-life driving preference as well.

Smooth and steady, slow in, fast out in a fairly neutral handling RWD car. Depending on the car I can go for either a little oversteer or understeer, but not much of either.

I'm not a fast driver by any means though, despite around ten years of playing racing sims on PC, plus a large number of arcade racers as well over the years.
I've generally resigned to driving for the experience (which is also why I mostly find relatively little enjoyment in racing games where I'm not using wheel and pedals) rather than to win :P.

Exactly like me. I prefer oversteer because it can be controlled and corrected fairly easily. Don't mind understeer but its no fun :P

I prefer a hint of oversteer.

The races aren't typically long enough (haven't done endurance races yet except for hour-races in FM3 so far) for me to have to worry too much about tire wear.

I don't use traction control or any other aids, so I have to be careful with progressive application of throttle. Because I prefer RWD, mashing the throttle with no aids would be bad, at least in higher-powered cars.

I tend to be fairly aggressive; not on purpose, but it's how I am. If I had one of those hot/cool meters like we have for Bob, mine would be pretty far into the red (hot). I'm impatient with my overtaking and tend to push a tad too hard sometimes.

I haven't really thought about a driver to compare myself to. In a way, I might have a little bit of Lewis Hamilton in me.

I love some oversteer with my car, though ironically: one of my favorite cars to drive is the Tuscan RM, which is somewhat understeery.

I'm very aggresive, especially when I'm doing hotlaps. I often tend to kick the rear end out of oversteery cars and square-off corners for understeery ones.

I use no aids on race cars and tuners (and only ABS 1 on street cars). It took a bit of practice before I was able to use the throttle on my controller effectively.

Online racing, I tend to keep it smoother and keep a pace which is sufficient to go ahead.

Same here, unfortunately I don't have a wheel and it takes some serious concentration to apply the throttle smoothly with the triggers, especially driving high powered race cars.

I did a couple of laps of the Nordschleife in the 787B using a controller and it was almost scary trying to keep the thing in check 👍

Despite my username I like the stability that comes with having just a touch of understeer. Nothing worse than spinning out on the last lap. :irked:

Prefer a bit of oversteer on my cars. My driving style is aggressive (a little bit OTT at times, but working on reducing that problem) with the late braking manouvre being my favourite method of overtaking. This means I'm a bit untidy during my laps so not paticularly good at time trials.

Don't use aids other than ABS 1 for lower powered road cars or on circuits that I know really well and enjoy racing on (like Laguna Seca for example). For higher powered and more difficult to control cars I try to use as little of the driving aids as possible. Still enjoying the game and working on improving my technique.

can somebody tell me what is oversteer & understeer:D

As Richard Hammond so eloquently put it:

"Now, this is really quite simple, ok? Understeer works like this: you drive down the road , turn the wheel, but the car goes straight on, crashes into a tree and you die. Oversteer works like this: you drive down the same bit of road, turn the wheel, but the back of the car comes round like this, and you go off the road, crash into a tree and you die. Now, oversteer is best, because you don’t see the tree that kills you."

Well I drift and race with DS3 mostly and try and be progressive as I can with it (sometimes very unprogressive lol). I have a DFGT but haven't played it for couple of months now CBF setting it up for couple of quick races here and there, I drive a V8 in real life so stabbing the throttle gets it sideways and i therefore need to be smooth and that translates when I play with DFGT but not so much with the controller.

Usually try to be slow in/fast out with a progressive push of the throttle. But once in a while, I like to drive a car that wants to kill me.
