What kind of a monitor do you use?

The mouse poll was running pretty well so decided to post this.

Dell 17 incher CRT. on a side note, what does CRT stand for? Is it Cathode-Ray Tube?

In the studio, I run dual 15" LCD's. The wife has a 17 LCD. I run Dual 19" KDS CRT's and also run a signal via DVI to my 60" LCD.

This is a tricky question.

On what computer?

On one of the computers, I use a 17" LCD. That computer is the one I'm on right now. On another computer there are dual 15" CRTs. On another computer there is a 17" LCD. On a different computer there is a 17" CRT. On another one, a 15" CRT. On another one, a 14.1" TFT, and a 13.1" TFT on another. On another, a 17" CRT.

I put down 17" LCD. :D

12-inch LCD. Oh sure, the pixels are microscopic, but I live. :)

I run a dual monitor setup. My main monitor is Viewsonic's massive 19 inch A90f+ while my secondary monitor is an older NEC Multisync XV14. The second monitor is only a 15 inch monitor(14 viewable) but it works for my side programs such as winamp. It was at one time my main monitor because I couldn't afford anything when I first bought my computer. Both are CRTs.

17" Flat CRT

Samsung SyncMaster 753c to be precise.

I can't stand LCD's. They cost a fortune and have **** picture quality.

My laptop has a 15" and my monitor is a Gem LCD. I can't remember but I think it's a 19". I like them much better because it's easier on my eyes.

What kind of resolution does your 60" have? I've been petting the Sony XBR 70" for a while, but probably won't be able to buy one. It has huge resolution and is a huge display - very cool stuff.

Using powerstrip, I had to create a custom resolution of 1304x734. It's really close to a 1:1 in terms of pixel to pixel. This TV was never designed to hook up to computers, thank goodness there are some really smart guys at the avsforum that live and breath this stuff to make DVI to the TV possible with very desirable results!

I have a 19" Dell CRT at work (1280x1024).

At home we use:

19" Viewsonic LCD on the main computer (needs a better video card to go native res)
17" LCD on the flattop
15" LCD on the robot iMac
15" CRT on the older iMac

The old G4 had a 17" Apple CRT, but after the second time it blew up (fixed under warranty once) we replaced it with the big LCD.

Samsung 753df at the office (17 inch flat CRT - has some of the best color reproduction I've seen for graphics work)

an 8 year old 17 inch Compaq 171FS at home - The thing is almost as good at color reproduction and gaming as the samsung and it's nearly flat. (I got it as a hand-me-down when my parents bought the samsung for their office).

and a moderately decent 13 inch LCD on my over the top ****ty laptop :).

Can any of you explain to me the advantages of blowing so much cash on an LCD? In particular, those of you gamers and graphic artists out there. I can't seem to be able to justify spending $700+ (canadian) on a monitor that is only decent for gaming purposes and and not so great color reproduction. The only advantage I see is power consumption and in freeing up desk space...

My 34" HDTV set. Looks fantastic. Nothing is blurry at all. I do admit, it is hard to read some words do to the small size. But, I have the Windows Magnifier on. I use it once in a while.

17 inch CRT. . . much better for gaming then any flat panel. . .better refresh rates, the whole nine. . . Now where is the thread of what types of whores do you use? What type of tooth Paste do you use? What type of Deodorant do you use? Do you have a inny or an outty? Left or Right? etc. . .

Actually, I bought the LCDs because they were pretty much the same price as CRTs, once you factored in shipping, and they take up a lot less space. I'm not a hardcore gamer, and the color repro is good enough for my purposes. Plus the issue with color repro is not to much on-screen color itself as it is corrdination between on-screen and on-paper output.

Actually, i notice better sharper color. On my crt monitor i have sitting aroun before i bought my second 17" flat screen, id look at the flatscreen, and then the crt, and noticed a big difference in color.

17" CRT.

However, soon to be a touchscreen LCD. Not sure if I'll use it for long, may just be a novelty. It's from the IT suite in the leisure centre where my Dad works. Some woman broke one of the brackets on it so it's going to scrap. I'm gonna put a little glue on it and use it for a little bit.

I probably will get bored of it.
