I got mine for $99 with a two year agreement with Sprint, and I'm happy with Sprint so far. It has a lot of bells and whistles, but it was a good price and I ended up finding uses for the camera; it is basically my digital camera, which is nice since I'm still because clinging to my SLR camera I can now email snapshots to family and friends.

My old phone was like your's, neon. The battery lost it's connection all the time, the battery life was somethng like 20 minutes, and it was huge. Hard to believe when I got the thing five years ago I marvelled at how "small" it was.

An LGVX6000 by Verizon. And before that I had an ancient phone. Pics to come later.

All right, somebody walk me through the basics here. I've got an existing plan with Verizon, and the phones we got when I subscribed a couple years ago. Given the distribution of service in this area, I want to stay with Verizon.

So can I just buy any phone, take it to the Verizon store, and have them activate it? Do they want me to buy it through them (well of course they do, but will they make it difficult to do otherwise?)

I've got a 2-line plan with enough minutes to serve, and free roaming and long distance in the area I'm likely to ever use it, for about $65 a month. The minimum contract expired a while ago but we've just been cruising on the same plan. Will they charge me if I want to switch, and is there anything better I should switch to?

Thanks for spoonfeeding me the condensed version so I know what to ask about when I get into it.

I'd buy a phone through them (even though you don't have to) because you can usually get a big rebate for signing a contract, and since you want to stay with them there's no reason not to. There will also be no question whether the phone is compatible with their network. Sometimes the rebates are for new customers but if your contract is expired they ought to do it.

If you know your going o stay with the network go onto a contrack, every year you will be allowed to upgrade your phone to a newer model provided you stay with them again, the choice of phones depends on how much your paying per month for line rental. If you spend next to nothing on your phone anyway there are way you can go onto contract and over the course of the year make it so your linerental is less than the cost of the hone but this generally requires changing your tariff and you'd be advised to make sure you know what the network's rules are regarding tariff changes. And if your current service plan is on a line rental and you've run the course of the contract, then you should be able to upgrade now anyway.

I got mine through work, it's a Audiovox 8600 as shown below:

Samsung battery life does suck. Coming from a Nokia 3310 to the phone i have now, im really disappointed about it.

Generally they do, there are one or two that have a good life, but the phones are still not as good as others. Oh and if anyone lives in the UK and wan't a contract phone PM me.

I've was wondering about this same thing?

A note, since your in Verizon they have that "new every 2" so you get a $100 rebate(I think?) An so when I got my current phone (Motorola T720) they actually paid me $20- $30 because not only did I get the $100 but I got the rebate of $60 or so? too. I have to admit Verizon was good but I think they are starting to slip... bad phone line up more expensive contracts for what you get.

Here's mine...

I got no idea what Nokia it is, but it's new and it has a camera. The ringtones "Another one bites the dust". Pimp.

The phone I'm using now is the Nokia 3595.

It's okay. I like the color screen and the ring tones and stuff sound better, but it's nothing special.

I want to get this phone when it comes out: Nokia 6230. It's got a camera, mp3 player, etc.
