Please excuse the well used cutting mat background, but the art for this album is amazing. As is the album itself, AOTY material.

I missed last Bandcamp Friday, when 100% of sales go directly to the artists, so I bought extra today. Still only came to $29. I bought the rest of the Mint Green and Ergo, Bria catalog, plus singles from Nightlife and Lesibu Grand. Amazing artists. You should give them a listen when you get a chance.

Today was another Bandcamp Friday. I bought an LP by The Ironsides, five singles by Lesibu Grand, and two LPs and a single by Linqua Franqa. I’m spoiler tagging the covers for language on one of them.

I missed Bandcamp Friday last month, so I’m making up for it this month. I bought music by Linqua Franqua, The Muslims, Proper, Chillhop, Senseless Optimism, Omniboi.

I’m spoiler tagging one of the images for language.

It’s time to reveal my July Bandcamp Friday purchases: more albums and singles from Omniboi. They have a sizable catalog, but everything has been worth it so far.

Recently I had been thinking about a song I heard a few years before. The problem was that I couldn’t remember the name of the artist or the name of the song which made listening to it a little difficult. I just remembered a girl playing a guitar and lots of skateboarding. Not nearly enough to go on. I considered it a lost song.

Yesterday morning I saw a notification that @UKMikey had liked a post of mine in the “What Music are You Listening to?” thread. Curious which song he liked, I checked it out. Turns out it was a song I posted six years ago. It was the song “circle the drain” by Soccer Mommy. Completely out of the blue, he found the exact song I was looking for.

Since yesterday was Bandcamp Friday (100% of all sales go directly to the artist without Bandcamp taking a cut), I knew what I was buying. Nine different singles, EPs, and LPs, all by Soccer Mommy.

Top row l>r: songs from my bedroom; songs from my bedroom pt. 2; for young hearts
Middle row l>r: last girl/be seeing you; collection; audio tree live
Bottom row l>r: clean; Henry/I’m on fire; colour theory

Just a reminder that this Friday, March 6th, is another Bandcamp Friday. 100% of all sales go directly to the artists. Get some great music, help some artists out.

I got this today. 青春歌年鑑 50年代 総集編 (Seishun Song Yearbook 50's Highlights). About 25 years ago, all of Japan’s major record labels got together to issue a very ambitious CD series that collected all the best and most important songs of each year from 1970 to 1990. Each year was a double CD with 30 songs. Every label contributed and every label was responsible for specific years. It was so successful, they did a follow up set of the same years but as a single CD with 15 more songs each. I bought mine from the Kinokuniya book store in Seattle, one or two every payday. The Japanese ladies behind the counter would look at me in disbelief when I went to pay for them. “You really like these?” Yes. I really like them”. Then they released another series that covered the ‘60s, so I got them, too. And now, more than 20 years later, I find they did a series that covered 1946 to 1959, so I’m working on them. This is a highlight set that covers that series. I had to use a third party, Worldshopper, to buy it from Tower Records. But I’m glad I did. It’s full of gems.

And here’s a photo that shows the initial release set. Notice the many different labels on the spines. This isn’t my photo, but I have all of these. In fact I just found the box I had in storage for a decade that has all these.

Just a few things recently. Some vintage twee and jangle pop, and a new shoegaze EP. The Shoestrings album I bought on CD. Should be arriving in the mail today. The other three I bought on Bandcamp.

Lyceum by The Orchids
Snowball by The Field Mice
