You can win the American Amateur league championship over and over and make a lot of cash easy. Just save before the last race and make sure you get and sell the Camero LM car (I think that's which one it is), which is worth 250,000 credits or so. Do this a few times and you can buy a really nice car. My favorite is Castrol Tom's Supra. I use these settings personally:

Yeh, I'm not a tuning expert either but putting the gears shorter on a tight track is good, and then putting them longer on a track with more straights is also good, but if the car doesn't have enough horsepower, you can't set it too high, otherwise you'll get serious lag...
