Not a rant thread. But over the last few months I've become very disapointed with Gran turismo. After playing GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 as a teenager I was too busy over the last few years to even play videos games.

Last year when GT6 came out and I saw it had Mt. Panorama I went and bought a PS3, a wheel and GT6 on release day. I've been playing that for the last few months and the frustation with the way things are dealt have really turned me away.

I keep kicking myself as to WHY did I not buy a Xbox one and Forza 5. Why did I not just buy a good gaming PC.

Either way, I'll be playing my PS3 for a few months to get my moneys worth, then I will move to either a PS4 or a Gaming PC.

To answer my own question, what will turn me away from GT7 on PS4 is IF they continue the same "content noone wants" way of doing things.

If GT7 is just another GT6>GT5 ordeal, with a handful of brand marketed cars, no real racecars, no real racing organization I will just give up on GT6.

What do you guys think? Anybody else hanging by a string like me? Anybody else a long time GT fan starting to see other games as much better games? ( I was drooling at Forza 5 tuning options yesterday)

Not going to buy it until all the features that will be promoted/promised for it are there. And I don't want them to promote something then say "Oh, the PS4 couldn't handle what we wanted to do so we'll give you something less." Know the PS4 limit's before you (PD) promote anything on it.

I had the same experience with GT6. I was very dissapointed but I still thought of buying a PS4 and GT7 until I read that standard cars would be staying. That's when I said enough and started looking at what other options I had. Eventually I decided to get an XBone with Forza 5 and it' been a wonderful experience. All the things I was hoping for GT to improve were already there. Beautiful consistent graphics worthy of a next-gen game, challenging A.I., wonderful immersive sounds, etc. Even the smaller car roster felt better than with GT, no more scrolling through an endless list of miatas and GTOs; you get the sense that every car there is special and deserves to be in the game. Plus you should see Autovista, It is hardcore car porn! Youtube videos don't make them any justice.

Any way I recommend getting an XBone, Forza 5 is great (also Forza Horizon 2 is just about to be released), Forza 6 will likely be released in a year's time and PCars will also be available in a couple of months. Happy gaming :)

One huge factor for me for purchasing GT7 will be if the wheel I have will be able to work with it or not.
Features will also be a large factor as I have not yet purchased a PS4 and likely will not unless GT7 really excites me.

I don't see myself getting a XBone any time soon if ever. from what I hear from my friends who have FM5 it is lacking badly and of course it does not support the Fanatec wheels.

Horizon 2, not interested at all in that one. Even if it was for the console I already have I would not bother with it.

PCars is another story. I will definitely be getting the PC version of that one and hope it does not disappoint

It depends on how good Project CARS turns out to be since I already have a G25 and a powerful PC.

I really don't want to buy a new wheel on top of a new console.

i'll wait to see but i'm convinced that both driveclub and pcars will be a better game than GT5 or GT6
so, by the end of 2014, GT will be the one playing catch with faster developer teams.

not having a full race creator and having that hard in game economy is the worst, makes GT as a game, silly.

better game doesnt mean better simulator or brand, since it is hard to beat things like:
gt academy, sema gt awards, pebble beach gt awards, vision gt(even without interiors),
the x1 cars project, gps visualiser, FIA championships.

I am looking at PCARS reviews before i commit to a PS4.

GT7 i fear will be a glorified GT6/5 that the bulk of our members have had a gut full of the issues and extended time lines that have come with it.

I help run an Aust / NZ league with about 70 odd guys racing over 6 divisions every week, and i cant tell you how frustrated people there are with GT6. Mainly the Constant glitching and terrible PSN connectivity here in Australia. People are fed up, and many are talking about other games and or going down the PC route. Add to that, the lack of logitec support will be a killer for a lot of players who will refuse to go out with their hard earned to buy another wheel, and again, i think they will be bracing for a kick up the clacker. Add to that, DSCs, sound and replay glitches, terrible AI, and promised features not yet delivered will compound the problem for GT7.

If PCARS proves to be as good as it 'potentially' looks, i think that PD will get an almighty kick up the backside, empty lobbies will certainly be proof of that. (perhaps that might make the network more stable !)

i will buy a ps4 when gt7 is released.

GT still has one of the best physics engines out there for consoles.....and with the new hardware, its only going to get better.
What physics engine? What are you talking about? And if by consoles you mean vs Forza (apparently since there are only 2 simcades on consoles unless you count mario cart as well) then you are mistaken by a long shot! Does Tyre pressure say anything to you? Tyre flex? Gt6 is not bad at all but don't let the fanboy inside you let you talk out of your a*s!

For me, it'll be economics. I already took the financial plunge to get an Xbox One and Forza 5 and I haven't been disappointed

To commit to another new console will be a push. So instead of being in the queue on release day as I usually am for a new GT release, I'll be hanging back and having a close look at what GT7 has to offer over Forza 5 (and maybe 6, by the time GT7 is released) before I make the decision

You do know that Driveclub is an arcade racer that's doesn't even have replays. Is it prettier than GT6 ? YES! but we all know graphics isn't everything.

- being arcade doesn't make it a bad game for it self. GT is more simulator and i feel like i cant use it! cars are looked behind the hard economy and i dont have a proper race creator. also, i doubt driveclub will be a mario kart arcade!
- the new games have day/light and way better weather for every location. if i had a ps4 wheel i would buy driveclub, it looks good and fun. its a good change from GT style, pcars is a more focused GT. latter, if GT doesnt mature i'll swift to pcars.
- i rather have a good race creator for offline than replays but i'm under the impression than driveclub will have
replays and photomode "in a future update". (i'm not sure about this)
- as you say, "graphics isn't everything", that also applies for GT. specially now that everybody goes full HD, day/night for every location, full year weather, ...

At the moment GT6 doesnt have replays either !

i agree, GT replays don't look that great

Graphics - 150% of GT6.
Content - at least 200% of GT6.
Physics must be improved.
Engine sounds improved.
Online - community, shuffle equivalent & trading.
My current wheel at the time must be supported.

If these criteria are met, I'll most likely get it. But, like others have said, I'll hang back a few months to get the feedback. I'm not going to go through the GT6 blues again...

Even though they're royally *****d this one up making an unfinished GT5 rehash with extra stuff, I feel that 7 will be better. GT6 was rushed to match the 15th anniversary stuff, as well as trying beating the PS4 out and it suffered massively because of it. You can tell Kaz isn't happy, it's why all the updates keep messing up the FFB, Physics, 3D support etc. They're trying to finish the game with it out of their hands. It's a little like trying to mend a car that has already left the garage, it's never going to work.

I will still buy GT7 but the thing that will make put me off is the amount of 2 generation old assets in the game. I will simply ignore the Standard cars but it's getting tiresome and if there was a decent alternative to GT then I'd probably move over there. So to answer the question in the original post. The only thing that would stop me from buying another GT game was if there was an equal to, or greater racing game to replace it on the PS3/PS4 and I'm not sure there will be one for a while, not even Project CARS interests me.

Logitech wheel support is key for me in regards to GT7 as I already have a PS4. If not then, I'll just go to arcade racing games with the DS4 and give a middle finger to sims.
