1. Oh well...

2. The few tens of thousand nitpickers are going to scream bloody murder, insist that the entire universe agrees with them, then sulkily buy the game and dig it anyway.

In GT4, they removed all possibility of leaving the ground, except for hopping curbs. (but the wheels would not stay up, even with no weight on them)
I beg to differ.

I've had my R34 Skyline sail into the air on the Test Track when I lost control and took it into the wall. It bounced off, sailed like a skipped rock, and bounced ingloriously all over the track. It was quite funny, and I had to save the replay.

Never cared about damage in the GT series and never will. There are sooo many more aspects PD can and should include in GT5

Wouldn't even notice.

I will only care how to unlock as many cars and all tracks for multiplayer, so I can race private races with my friends - and damage isn't important in our races since we drive with 100% "NO TOUCH" philosophy.

Who needs damage in clean racing?

That's the same as the GT3 glitch I talked about... only reason you can do that is that the car is literally riding up the invisible wall around the track.

Honestly for me is not a surprise if GT5 will not have damage! :(

Perhaps the only damage we will have are only mechanic and not cosmetic!

But being a race simulation game I think it make sense have all type of damage like the real cars:

- Cosmetics
- Mechanic fail
- Electrical fail
- Tire explosion
- . . .

With damage we problably just get the game in 2030!!!!

:boggled: :boggled: :boggled: :boggled:

if there's any kind of damage, I expect that the B-spec bob, if he's still on the payroll, to take damage at 200mph+ crashes as well :mischievous: Imagine how satisfying it would be.. after B-spec Bob has made fatal, stupid error that turns your beloved, multi-million cr carbonfiber monster into pile of shredded bodypanels, he'd be wheeled away by ambulance crew.. :mischievous: after all those stupid crashes on Hunaudieres, he finally would get what he deserves! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I really don't care. I would be more annoyed and angry if PD released GT5 without a Rally Mode.

Would i like damage in gt5,yes i would, but not body panels and windows.I would hope pd put in tyre wear, fuel usage and even brake fade. These are things that should be possible to incorporate without having to get a green light from the car makers, which seems to be the problem pd are having.Plus i am not mad on the idea of spending most of my track time in the pits getting new bumpers and wings fitted to my car, because some numpty thinks its funny to drive around smashing in to every other car they come across. Will i still get the game if there are none of the above features,or any of the other ones mentioned by you guys, well to be honest,I would be a fool not to get it just because of that fact.

Meh.... Don't really care about damage and I don't expect it to be in there.

I would be very disappointed if there isn't a 'save race'-option for the enduros. I'm not getting my hopes up, though... :indiff:

I would care. Yeah, we dont play GranTurismo to crash... but when we do push a little to hard (EVERY ONE DOES), then you need to be shown why to take a step back and re-think your driving attitude. Imagine all the online punters that would damage a radiator on the first lap. You could completely forget about people cheating the corners. And for hell sakes, its been in nearly every other game for the last five years.

But if worse comes to worse; at very least have the collisions realistic. When I hit a tire wall going 130, that wall is going to (if not suck me in completely) it should spin the car due to massive amounts of friction/force/reaction from that type of barrier.

Kaz was quoted saying he didnt want damage because he likes how beautiful cars are. Well thats the point of damage. Makes you drive better because you love the way cars look when they're not wrecked.

I wouldn't care though I would like to see at least mechanical damage as this I think is a little less to ask of the car manufacturers/license owners. But even then, I'm not particularly bothered about it - I never was.

I would also hope that, if damage in any form were to be included, that you would be sent a repair bill at the end of the race.

I'm not interested in seeing what a car looks like if I hit a wall, as far as I'm concerned my race is over once I leave the black stuff, anyway. If PD were to include in a GT game, they would only do it if they could do it properly. It isn't important.

Guys, the game is becoming more and more realistic on the visual side - If there is some car manufacturers that doesn't want the possibility for the public to see their car smashed up - especially when the 'video' would look quite realistic because its from Gran Turismo - then, doesn't the chance of getting visual damage become less and less likely? Though the talks about only applying the damage on race cars makes sense, as those cars do crash under (inter)national TV broadcasting doing races.

I'd love to see non visual 24 hour race damage features in the series - But then again, I want to race and play the game and not limit my game play because of damage or random number generator - think the game would be in some way frustrating considering how PD would create the damage aspect close to perfection - It would indeed bring another dimension to the series but I don't think the casual player would play the game for very long.

GT5 been long under way and as I understand the time consuming is the Car modelling - and I'm sure that there is some at PD that works with other things then modelling - which then have quite alot of time to develop new features to the game - so I would expect something very surprising - if its damage or non-visual-damage or other mind blowing perfection, I'm sure we won't be disappointed. 👍

Keep that head up!:)

For those that wants to see damage and crashes just for the sake of it - then I'm sure you can find another game that provides just that :P And then you can come play GT5 when you want to Race :)

Since its impossible that they can made 100% realistic damage, indifferent.

Im waiting much more any form of dynamic weather or real time day cycles.

I remember in GT1 there was a certain way you could tune the CRX suspension so that it would go up on to two wheels around any corner and you could drive this way. I was really upset when i didnt play the game for a while and lost the memory card and i never remembered how to get it to do it again.

Honestly i would be happy. GT is a driving sim. You can crash and you just drive off and start over. That is what a driving sim is. You crash and you learn from it and go on with your life. Not get punished for crashing. Would you want your beloved ferrari turned into a junkyard of carbon fibre?

I agree somewhat anyone who plays F1CE online with damage on knows what I mean. More frustrating than being punted any time.

Would be nice if my hood could fly off and Hit a punter who was about to ram into me.

Would put a smile on my face.

I hate to admit it but damage is probably one of those must have features. I could live without it and apparently most of us do. However if implimented halfway decent it surely must require them to continuosly improve other areas of the game. With 16 cars and current A.I, half the field or more would be disabled in a say a 10 lap race or more race. I would agree that they should or could limit the damage to race modified cars only. Meaning must be modifed to at least sport club racing status. The reason I say this is that I would doubt if their are any sanctioned racing leagues that let you use factory cars with out saftey modifications. I think they could also have settings for damage in regards to the amount of damage that is done and the effects it has. Also settings for how the damage can be repaired. How much can be repaired in the pits and how long would it take. In general I would like to see damage cost money to repair. In fact I think that you should have to pay for each set of tires, x amount of fuel etc. Maybe there would be an option to fix damage and tune up your cars. Which means fix the body damage, fix any mechanical / electrical damage, and due general engine tune up. However if we was able to get this implimented it would be nice to have an option for each car where you could set it to basically restore the car after every race. Provided that you had enough money. The only way that I could see them not having damage is having at least as many cars as GT4 and paint/custom shop along with other features that would more than make up for not having damage. I would live without damage as long as they give a ton of options to make private online and user offline arcade races. For instance if in GT4 we was able to pick the A.I. cars and then give each one a quick tune, it would allow for hundreds of good races.

I really doubt we'll see damage at all!! The reason being is the lack of power of the console and not because PD or the manufacturers don't allow it.

I remember about 1 month ago I went to the drifting chat, we setup a drift race and we got about 12 drifters in Suzuka!!!! I remember, I believe it was around 5-7 mins into the race, I went to the back of the pack to see how it all looked like when everybody was drifting at the same time. The moment we got to the "esses" in Suzy, the game for me was running at around 5-10fps!! This not because of the cars, but because of the smoke they produced. I was astonished on how the game could reach going SOO SLOW.

Since then I always had a thought that the lack of damage on GT5P (as an update) and most certainly in GT5, is because of the lack of power of the console.

Opinions??

Damage will come out imo, its only a matter of time since it has been discussed so much in comparison with every other game out there. But will it this time around for GT5? Nah, doubt it. They are focusing on the online play too much (which with no release of private rooms even that I fear will not change AT ALL in GT5 :nervous:), which all they have to do is play GT Legends online to see how to do it properly :D My reaction would be..."Lame! But I'll race the heck out of it anyway *shrug*."

But if there is damage, like someone mentioned, we should be held accountable for replacing those broken parts, we should have to buy tires for each race. Maybe initially when you start the first set of tires lasts a long time cause you do 2 lappers anyway, then as you get more money and do more laps you will need to pay for each set of tires. So that in turn means we may need to get more prize money, but I for one think that having more costs for repairs (if damage is included) and over-working a tranny etc, adds even more realism to the game as well as longevity in sim mode. I mean I spent less than 3 months completing GT4 to 100% WITHOUT B-Spec Bob :) Then went right into the WRS.

It seemed to me that there was nothing left to learn in sim mode, no lessons on how not to shift so late my tranny goes out or how to (with better AI) practice varied passing methods (missions did nothing for me, sorry PD). Needless to say I would love damage as it would weed out the 'weekend warriors' among us online and better hone our skills.

I don't really mind if it comes out with no damage, but it would be a nice little feature. I don't play it to crash and run into AI cars (that's what GRID is for), I play it to be serious and fast. But would be nice to have it.

-> Don't really see the damage feature to be a necessary necesity for GT5. I see of it more like of a bonus feature which it can be acquired later on.

-> My reaction? Who cares!? The damage feature rates at one of the bottom part of my GT5 priority wish list. I'd rather have day/weather customizer/rotation feature.

-> As long PD doesn't make GT a frustrating driving sim, I'm ok with that. Plus featuring all the race tracks and cars from GT1 back ih GT5. Yes, that Dodge Copperhead, Venturi Atlantique, and Vector W8 going around in Grindelwald kind of thing.

:)
