What does break in mean in gt5?
As in when people ask how long does it take to break in a car

It basically means getting the full potential of the car. For example, if you drive a car offline for lets say 100 miles, the car gains more horsepower, therefore it is 'broken in'. A bit like breaking in new shoes... you where them for a bit, and then they're comfy.

Most of the time it will take 1 race (to gain 1 hp), but it depends on the car youre driving

Break in actually takes around 180 miles.

Waste of time. Dont keep driving same car for more than 50 miles otherwise you get bored.
Bump in 5-10hp is meaningless anyway.

You think so ah ok:dopey:, well strap Bob to the wheel for a few laps of B-Spec Daytona you'll soon have the car run in. (trust me makes a difference:)

Send Bob to Laguna enduro, find something to do for about 2 and a half hours, come back to your fully broken in the car (just make sure to change the oil when done :dopey: )

What!?! Daytona will need 3/4 sets of 20 laps at around a minute or quicker depending on the car. No need to find a spare 2+ hours sir.:D

Your method works ofcourse long day if you want to run in 3 or 4 cars in at once though eekk.

It works for me that way. I get to spend time with my wife and daughters, while Bob is braking in a car and making credits, but your way sound good too 👍

Good point sir, priorities sound in order.:cheers:

Yeah, This^^. I always go onto B Spec, Extreme Races, Dream Car Championship. Then chose the Indianapolis track. This is 22 laps so 55 Miles. Do this race 3 times and you have 165 miles on the car. Should be fully broken in now. Give it an Oil Change afterwards and you should be at optimum horsepower. 👍

Run in a league, that is doing spec race with identical car, then come come back and tell me 10hp is meaningless.

I break in my own cars... So bob gets no action over here.

All about opinions i guess but i know what i would rather have ive always run quicker with a run in wagon tested the theory many times for our V8 series..:indiff:

In my opinion an endurance race, like 60 laps of Grand Valley would be better. It probably will give more EXP in the end as well. It takes between 2-3 hours though.

I noticed all cars will gain HP till 500 Kilometers. Thats something around 320 miles.

A Nissan Skyline GTR R34 can get up to 809HP. A nissan Silvia S13 can get 412. You´ll get more XP in the beginning, it will grow slower by the time you make more miles.

And of course an oil change for all new cars gives HP.

I actually go 195 miles to be sure (oil turns slight brown). Break in really benefits us fellas who drag race in GT5, as you need optimum power.

Does anyone know how long the break in will last until it begins to deteriorate? Also, when you have an engine re-build, to what HP will it go, the original, unbroken-in, or the broken in?
