i just bought the game yesterday, i got all my licences except S, and i want to know whats the best car to start out with and whats the first thing you should put on it, someone plzz help. thanks

Get all golds on the A License test. The bonus car is a Mazda RX-8. Then use your money to upgrade the parts.

If you can't accomplish that buy the PT Cruiser.:D

Hi, gt_pro, and welcome to GT Planet. I gather you may be new to GT3 but not GT in general, huh?

May I suggest you try using the search feature and put in "best car to start" or "first car". You should get a ton of results. The search button is up at the top, or there's a link in my .sig.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

If you are game, win the TT mode and you get the Panoz, either sell it (my preferred option) or drive it, it should beat anything in the beginner and Amatuer leagues in any case

You should get a Miata from getting all the golds on B license, if you can't do that, do the Time Trials (well, you should try the latter first ;)) and get the Panoz, as Bollocks explained...then you're set to get a nice car, run the Super Speedway Enduro till you get an F1, then do the Beginner then Amateur Series (well, that's if you want to beat it 100% without any challenge...;))

(well, that's if you want to beat it 100% without any challenge...;))

Now wheres the fun in that.Just do what I did Get the PT and work for your victory's.The game already gets to easy after the first few races anyway-well until the pro league-at least make the beginning kind of challenging.

Oh and welcome to GTP:cheers:

Well, technically, the "best" car to start out with would be the Viper Concept for getting all gold in the Super License tests.

Like Solid said, the RX-8 is a good thing to get first, because you get it for all gold in the A License, and the A License is the easiest one to get all golds in. The RX-8 is a really good car. It's good enough to win the Polyphony Digital Cup (which requires an unmodified car), and doing that will get you the best car in the game, the F094/S (although you may have to save and reload until you get the F094/S).

Any of the free cars are good starter cars, but they're all pretty tough to get. If you don't want to bother getting all golds in any licenses, The Esperante GTR-1 is a free car you get for completing Time Attack in Arcade Mode. I don't like that car too much, though, and Time Attack is the hardest part of the game (unless you're going for license golds).

If you just bought the game, you'd be better off just getting some practice running races. If you're just looking for something to buy with that $18,000 you start with, there are only a few cars that you can get with that:

Daihatsu Mira TR XX Avanzato R: $11,140
Daihatsu Storia X4: $13,900
Mazda Demio GL-X: $14,660
Mazda Miata MX-5 (1989): $17,000
Mazda Miata MX-5 (1993): $16,900
Suzuki Alto Works Suzuki Sports Limited: $12,220
Toyota Vitz Euro Edition: $12,880
Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex: $13,550
Toyota Vitz RS 1.5: $14,530
Chrysler PT Cruiser: $17,980
Volkswagon New Beetle 2.0: $15,930

Of those, the best car is the Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex. It has more power than any of the other cars, is lighter than most of them, and leaves you $4,450. You should change the oil and spend $1000 on a Racing Chip, then save the rest of the money for some better tires. The only settings you can change are Active Stability Management (turn it to zero) and TCS Controller (turn it down to 2). You shouldn't have a problem winning Sunday Cup, and the Clubman Cup is also pretty easy if you don't hit too many walls, although the Toyota MR-S S Edition shows up there sometimes, and he'll get ahead of you if you don't slam him into the wall a couple times on the corners. If you're having trouble, you still have the money to get a Semi-racing Muffler.

The $16,900 Mazda Miata MX-5 is the second best car you can buy, and a lot of people like it. You could maybe argue that it's just as good as the Trueno, but if you want this car, you can get it free by winning the Clubman Cup, so you should save your money.

The Daihatsu Storia X4 is also a good car if you don't plan on keeping it very long. It has the best power to weight ratio of any car under $18,000, and it handles pretty well, but it just doesn't get much HP boost when you upgrade it.

Thats pretty interesting. I usually start off with the Beetle 2.0 until I make enuff money to modify it for the Beetle Cup and win the RSi. I just love the RSi I guess. I try not to buy any cars after that. So unless they cant be won in a way or another, Ill buy em. ( For a specific race )

The only cars you absolutely have to buy are a Mercedes (for Silver Arrow) and a Tuscan.

When I started playing the first time (right after the game came out), I just did Sunday Cup and Clubman with some crappy car till I could buy the Mercedes SLK ($55,310), then I tuned it for Test Course. The Beginner Legend of Silver Arrow Test Course is only 2 laps, and gives you $10,000, so it's a good way to get some cash early. You can very quickly juice up the SLK to where it can easily win the FR Challenge, Spider & Roadster, Turbo Sports, Silver Arrow and then GT World Championship.

Go the Miata...I still reckon that's a good first car. :)

I used the Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex the last time and it went allright. But the Mazda mx-5 is a little easier. Especially when you are quite new to the game then the Mazda is the best choice!

Buy the Mazda MX-5 (or Miata, depending on where you live), Get the S drivers License, and then win the Roadster endurance race with it. Bam, 100,000 Cr. in your pocket, and if you're a lucky, an F1 car to top it off.

I've really gotta ask why so many people suggest buying the Miata. It costs so much that you can't even afford an oil change after you get it, and if you want the Miata you can get it free from Clubman.

The Trueno is by far the best deal at $13,550. It's got 123hp without even changing the oil and can win the Sunday Cup pretty easy, then that gives you a broken in Trueno. After you sell the first one, you've got enough cash for an oil change, racing muffler and stage 1 NA tune, which gives you a 178hp car after doing nothing but Sunday Cup. And if you wanted the Miata instead, you could go win it from Clubman with just an oil change and sell the Trueno, then be way ahead on cash.

I found that the Mazda is easier to drive.

The Trueno does the job but it doesn't respond that well to a large increase in horsepower.

IMO, when your a noob then buy the Miata..

Looks like I'm talking to a brick wall here. I'm not saying the Miata's bad, I'm just saying if you want the Miata you'd save a lot of money buying the cheapest thing that can win Clubman then getting it that way instead of paying $16,900.

i went with the miata. If you're a good driver, you wont need to purchase mods, and it'll get you through a lot of races. By the time you cant win with it anymore, you'll already have enough money to buy cars for specialty races.

Trust me, the Clubman and/or Sunday Cups will not give you a broken in car, whatever car you're running. I choose the Miata because it is light and it has good top speed, which is workable at the test course for some quick and easy money.

I chose the Vitz....So cheap and very light and handled very very well..And I had enough money left over to buy a stage 2 turbo right off the bat...So I got the $ for a better car fairly quickly.

I just replies to what you said here. The reason ppl pick the miata is because its a nice drive.

For the rest I think that chinwa00 made a good point. Exactly what I meant!

grtz

The first game I started I chose a miata..I didn't like it at all, but then again it's my personal preference...But I havn't used a miata since then.

Is it really necessary to call people brick walls because they're not listening to you? We all know about the prizes and which car does what. Some of us have made comprehensive guides to the game. Some of us have every car in the game. And some of us have completed the game multiple times. We are all equals here. The AE86 being the best car to start out with is an opinion, not a fact. I think you'll find that people will respect your opinion a little more if you respect theirs.

Really? I thought all prize cars were broken in. Is it just the ones you get from license golds?

Yeah, you've got a great database, but there's really no need to just randomly start bragging and get all snotty. I was just looking for some sort of an explanation. Yes, obviously most people here seem to think the Miata is the best starter car, and that's a perfectly valid opinion that I'm not disputing. I'm asking why they think it's worth paying $16,900 for the thing instead of buying something cheaper and saving some time and money by winning the Miata from Clubman.

It was only as snotty as your brick wall statement. I'll retract mine if you retract yours.
