What's the point of Red Bull challenge?

I think since most people race with ABS set to 1 they probably didn't noticed how it's physics is "dumb down".
I have ABS off and noticed with this car it feels like ABS is set to 10. For example I can still brake with this car easily with my brake bias set to Front=0 and Back=10. 10/0, 5/5,0/10 feels about the same. Of course 10/10 gives the shortest braking distance.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. Instead of all those nonsensical cars, PD should bring Porsches.

RUF is Porsche, albeit about as much as a Callaway is a vette.

Also they did a simulated car inside the simulation....

Guys Kaz just 4chan'd us hard.:dunce:

The X1 is alright, it's a simulated car on what someone could, in theory do, were they to make a race car without any regulation body tell them what they could and couldn't put on the car. And it's also the ultimate car in GT5, however what they did mess up in doing is they didn't restrict this car. It should of IMHO been like the nike car and restricted to certain tracks, IE Nurburgring GP, Fuji, Suzuka. Tracks with a smooth surface. Also the car should have only one compound of tire for it and some form of RPM based downforce (not car speed, engine speed) to better replicate the actual workings of a fan car.

Am I going to race the X1 online? Probably. But the only person pulling real miles on an X1 in my house, will be Bob.

Now as for IF this car became part of real life and a real race series came of it. There wouldn't be some GP style race for it. It'd be more some form of super sprint race. Maybe a 50 mile long race at the very most where it becomes more about human endurance and actually surviving to the end without going off the track that has huge runoffs, than some 500 mile race where drivers reign themselves in till the last 10 laps.

I don't have the X2010 yet myself. But if you don't like the car then don't drive it. Personally I don't like the kubelwagon.. that's why I refuse to take it for a spin :)

In an interview in Top Gear before GT5 was launched Kazunori told that car companies asked PD to enter concepts into their game engine to see how they would perform.

Also, the Citroen GT used to be a concept in Gran Turismo. Untill Citroen was impressed by the concept and decided to build one in real life. Even though they are virtual cars PD does hold to real world physics. I would think they kept to the same rules while designing X2010.

Because some people actually like the challange and the car.

Why did they put in Rally car?

Why did they put in Super GT?

How about the Fiat 500 (which I can't stand)?

This game is an expansive array of multiple types of cars; with broad appeal.

You didn't have to play the challange and you can sell the car. So why complain about it?

My 3 year old son LOVES the Kubelwagen. He enjoys banging it against the guard rails! :)

I am all for a challenge, but surely the OP is referring to the X2010 actually being in the game in the first place not how difficult it is ?

If you cannot gold it with a DS3 - then that implies GT5 is for wheel users only which is probaby not a good long term strategy for sales. GT5 likes to be positioned as a serious SIM but to take the X2010 seriously ? If you remove Adrian Newey's name, you would all be acussing Kaz of playing too much Wipeout.

I can see the attraction that some people may have for the X2010, but I do not see its place in the GT world.

Would disagree. Wheels have been out of stock all over the place since GT5 came out. They're selling like hotcakes. If you have to have a wheel to win these events I don't think it would make a difference. I think everyone who wanted to play GT5 would go out and buy one. There wouldn't be a huge difference in sales if designed to be won by a wheel or DS3. I take that back. If it were used mainly with a DS3 I don't think sales would be as brisk.

Why? To give people at least ONE opportunity to sharpen skills. Ok it's two, since the "Grand Tour" Eiger challenge with the otto ché is the second one :)

I totally agree. Putting in a few days to gold a challenge like Mission 34 in GT4 would give the game (and platinum) some real 'GT' meaning.

IMO, the X2010 and the Vettel Challenge are just another example of how Kaz has lost the plot in the GT series.

This.👍

I don't like the X2010. I didn't even waste my time golding all of the events because I don't really want the car. After spending a couple hours on it and golding a couple, I figured what's the point anyways.

It may be possible to make it in real life like some of you say, but it still seems fake to me, therefore I don't like it.

And as for Mission 34, I never did gold that damn thing. But I did spend countless hours on it enjoying the heck out of it. To each his own I guess.

IMO the point of this car is simulation. Just this. Is not a real car simulation, of course, but is simulation of a car that probably could be built.
Is a science fiction simulation. (Not confuse with fantasy)

This car isn't real, but could be real in future... just this.

I agree that is a bit "out" in a game based in real cars... But this is just a game.
I think most of us were wondering how fast can be a car, with real technology and no restrictions... Here you got an aproach...

The whole point of the car is that it's the absolute maximum use of modern technology. This car could very well exist if it wasn't for the fact it would cost millions of dollars and be illegal everywhere. Now 1500 BHP out of a V6 seems a little (or completely) rediculous to me, but there's no reason a lot of this car couldn't work. I say be happy that you can go 280 on nurburgring :)

Fun fact, BMW managed to get 1,500 HP out of a Inline 4 Turbo in 1983. Given the things we have now like Pneumatic valves and direct injection, 1,500HP out of a 3 liter V6 Turbo seems completely possible.

Wow am I out of date. I looked at twin turbo V6 in the description and said "No" aloud :boggled: But I mean really that engine can't be cheap I mean otherwise we would have the Veyron SUPER super sport lol. Now I have to look it up on wikipedia........

The M12 went on to Formula One, winning the 1983 championship for Nelson Piquet and Brabham — something which very few 20 year old road car engine designs accomplish. The same applies for the rise in power: twentyfold from 75 hp (56 kW) to about 1,500 hp (1,100 kW).

This is out of a 1.5 liter motor. F1 motors I believe account for 50% of the team's budget.

Well, the point of this challenge is to sell wheels for GT5.
I golded every single licence test, A and B spec event so far and all special events apart from...S.Vettel for which I'll have to buy a wheel if I want to gold it.

I see what you mean with the x2010 i rarely drive it unless I'm showing someone and the concept cars are just too whacky with their handling and power figures i wont use them tbh. I encountered similar last night when i finally decided to take out the mclaren MP4c or whatever it is the new one, diabolical handling and too much power seems unfinished but I guess thats because its based on a very early prototype. should have been left out of the game IMO why have a car that drives like crap. i immediately took my tuned enzo out for a grind and what a difference an amazing machine.
