What's your view?

I've always traditionally used the chase cam in previous GT games. Since i bought GT5:P i've mostly been using the bumper cam, occasionally switching to the chase cam for Daytona Oval where i've found it better for judging exactly where your car is compared to the A.I. field - i still keep just nudging into the back of them when drafting or aiming for a gap between them and the outside wall. I'd like to use the cockpit cam, but with a fairly small 4:3 screen you just can't see enough of the track, it makes you feel like you are driving from the cargo area of a van with no peripheral vision!

Well I change camera depending on the car, event or game mode.

I love the inside view when I'm having fun sliding an M3 or NSX, and since I don't have a wheel, seeing the virtual one helps to let me know where the wheels are pointing to.

If I'm on "time attack" mode, trying to be as fast as possible, bumper cam.

When Online racing, outside view to try and keep out of trouble as much as I can. To avoid idiots that don't know the meaning of BRAKES or FAIRPALY, but also to avoid moving and hitting someone passing along side me.

im really surprised so many people used bumper cams in previous GTs.. ive always used the 3rd person view, that way i can see easier if the car begins to oversteer. also, it's easier for me to aim for the apexes that way

with the bumper view it's like i dont have a frame of reference

Bumper view for me, you can see more of the race track although I know I'm missing out on some fantastically rendered car insides. I use the in-car for showing off the graphics but I still reckon it's a bit weird having your actions mirrored by virtual hands on a virtual steering wheel.

edit: another funny thing with the in-car view is that the virtual hands sometime try to pre-empt a gear change but if you've left it to the very last minute it just looks like he's got a cat down there and needs to stroke it at weird times....

Well if you ever drove a manual or sequential transmission you would know that sometimes while your driving aggressively you keep your hand on the shifter before deciding to actually shift. Hell, when you drag with a 6-speed you usually go down most the 1/4 mile with one hand on the wheel.

The sound of the engine is best at bumper view btw.

Yes that's true, though its much more realistic in car view though. But for sheer sound value, its bumper, though I always go for cockpit view, just like I play inverted on the pad. I'm converted never looked back.

Cockpit view 100% of the time. Once you get used to it, you start to learn where the edges of you car are in relation to you and it isn't so difficult.
