When a game comes out for it that I give a crap about.
Taxes and distribution aren't free, though. I think I read on a Kickstarter for some other device that taxes in the EU bump the price up by 20-25% over what it would be in the US, so that's already up to £300 (20% of 250 is 50), then you have to ship them here as I'm sure they're not made in the EU, and then there are other fees I imagine (I have no idea) so it's not as if Sony have just bumped the price up for a laugh; even if they had been made here as well as wherever they actually are being made they'd still be more expensive than in the US because of taxes.
I'll be getting mine for MGS V, possibly shipped to me from the States as my Sister is going there in March.
Already preordered and payed for mine in early august, Sadly my order is scheduled to be delivered on 13 december. 2 weeks later than release.![]()
When some form of GT is on it I suppose. I like Naughty Dog games but that could be a while too.
Also need to know if my G25 and Fanatec wheels are compatible which should be known very soon if not already.
Not impressed with paying for online and no external hard drive support but much will change in 1-2 years.
Graphic cards are usually exchange rate and VAT, similar size box and weight, made in the same place.
R9 290 is $400 lowest and £300-10 lowest. I think at least either £299, which is a very eye catching price and magical price point, especailly compared to £429 on Xbox One or throw a £30 game in. There's certainly a case for PS4 being £320 with all costs so there's some scope for a better deal for £350. Bare bones console for £350 is a bit mean fisted.
After 6 months I expect to see good value bundles so not really bothered too much about Sony charging a little more. Another point is Sony are said to be taking a $60 loss on each unit. Perhaps this is more for the US market where they lost by a lot last gen and EU/UK will adjust if sales drop slightly.
I get your point though that the £50 difference is not major, some items do have £20-30 added on top for shipping if the item stock is low and Sony may have some extra guidelines to follow in EU that other items priced fairly don't have.
Here be my answer.
I've never understood the rush to get new systems on release. Especially in Sony's case, where they've historically had hilariously weak launch-day lineups. PS4 doesn't look to change this, and I'm fine with that; I can wait until the first price reduction, just like I waited for a while for PS3.
wow, for once you get an even worse deal than Australia! It's only $549 here, a big improvement from the PS3's $1,000Considering the fact that the damn thing is £100 more in Britain than it is in America, I won't be buying until the price levels out. Its like $400 in America, that translates into about £250, but somebody at Sony thought the number was too low and it looked too cheap so ramped it up to £350 whilst ignoring the exchange rate.
