I remember my early years, when I spent my days going to preschool and playing games on the Playstation. One of my favorite games back then was Crash Team Racing.

I played the hell out of that game, but I wasn't very good at it, being so young. :dunce:

I had the demo of that years ago. I actually played that a hell of a lot back then even though there were only a couple of tracks to choose from. Never did get the full game though.

This, along with V-Rally '97 Championship Edition, is one of the first racing games I played on PS1. Rage Racer on the Demo 1 disc (which I still have surprisingly):

There was also Porsche Challenge and Rapid Racer on the same disc, but this was the first game I played on it.

Might not think much of it now, but this little beast was quite the ride. Technically mid-engined, it also featured a horn and opening doors! The independent-steering front wheels also meant you could turn on a dime. While still in diapers and before 1990 rolled around, this was my first foray into automobilia. In later years, these would be roped to the back of our bikes, or pushed down steep hills often resulting in spectacular crashes. Damn I miss being a kid

And if you wanted to save your games, you had to insert one of these:

Pfft. That's nothing. I'm from the generation whose only memory card was a pen and paper. After every level, you'd have a ridiculous code to write down. Anyway, my first computer was an Amiga 1200. That's where I fell in love with Street Fighter 2 and Grand Prix 2. Good times.

My first racer:

RC Pro Am

It had deep customization options as well.

Plus I almost always had a slot car track set up in the basement when I was a kid.

For me it was 4x4 stompers and a commodor 64 playing 4th and inches and hardball.

I used to have so giant play mat with city streets and everything for hot wheels cars when I was like 5. I have no idea what happened to it.

Something like this (close, but not exactly):

Also had a parking garage that had like a elevator and some stuff, it was really old. Also got some of my dads old Tonka tractors and a bunch of mini Tonka trucks, I mean mini. Like what the big ones were, but smaller, and like 3 times bigger than Hot Wheels cars, if that makes sense. Had a couple sets of slot cars too.

I had one of those, it was a blast, for some reason though, they put a face on the newer ones.

First game I ever played was Sonic but I was about 3 years old at the time. But this is what got me into cars and motorsport. Tim Harvey's #12 Peugeot 406 will live forever. As will the #9 Will Hoy and #15 Paul Radisich Ford Mondeos.

Alex Kidd ftw.

Also, I had a Turnin' Turbo Dashboard as well and I don't think I would ever remembered it again in my life if it wasn't for this thread. Thank you.

No worries chief, I can't believe I remembered they existed. When I had the thought, I instantly chuckled to myself and the thread was made. :)

My first console was a Funstation.

My first real console was a PSOne with Gran Turismo, and that's where it all began. It was for my birthday. Then bought myself a Nissan Skyline GTS and got to racing.

Had that on PC when I was about 13-14, I loved that game, the 406 Peugeot, Honda Accord and Vauxhall Vectra were my favorite cars to use.

The Peugeot 406 is the greatest car to not win a BTCC race. Fact.

Tim Harvey in the 1997 season, oh what could have been if Peugeot had put any money into their works team...
