OK, quite a major confession here. I used to be a member of my local Scalextric club in the late 70s/early 80s where we raced in leagues but were also allowed the freedom to design and build our own cars. We used Hornby train engines and stuff like that as they would spin incredibly fast with the higher voltage of slot racing, but only last a few races. Good times. I still have all my cars, including some rare hand-made stuff and tons of track which we drag out now and again.

Anyway, all the UK clubs entered the National Championships and I won ours in 1981. I then went to the finals in London and became the 1981 Eagle-Scalextric National Bronze Medal winner - I still have the medal! Won about £250 quids worth of kit, which was a lot then.

Also ran a few 24 hour charity races on a 6 lane reproduction of Brands Hatch - except it had a figure of 8 configuration where Druids should be (I could never work that one out).

Can I come round your house to play with your scalectrix?

Haha, anytime! But you're not touching my hand made HF Fulvia though... :sly:

Jai - Best car by far in TOCA was Alain Menu's Renault Laguna. Wasn't the fastest flat out but boy that thing was on rails! The TVR Speed 12 was fun too. :D

Oh how I wish I still had my Micro Machines collection :(.

I bought one of those not too long along, Mike. Didn't have the same packaging IIRC but the ship was the exact same.

This is just too good not to post, I honestly didn't make this and it's the first result on google image search

 That's not too far off what I was wearing either! Not the glasses of course... I'd leave that level of Ultimate Geekdom to Azuremen.

I wear glasses :odd:

Also I had the Matchbox Steer and Go, hours of fun 👍

...better made as well! :dopey:

How about one of these...

Never had the stunt bike - but i did have the motorhome and trailer and the dragster where the rails would retract turning into a rudimentary single seater 👍

Awesome. I had a little Scalextric set when I was a kid but was more into Lego.

I spent all my birthday and Xmas cash buying up Technics with motors and pneumatic pumps so that I could build robots and stuff. It probably really helped me out because my technical drawing skills at college were second to none and I put that down to Lego plans being isometrically draw.

   Touche... I'll go back in my cave now.... :p

I remember it being huge. And easy to break!

I bought a MF at a boot sale for a fiver but it was broken. I displayed it with the good side forward. Never had the other ships but had an X-Wing Luke with sabre, in the box and an Imperial Storm Trooper (desert version) also in mint condition. Unfortunately I bought them when I was a kid so they weren't original releases. :(

I always wanted to give that game a try. Was it any good?

I loved it.. It was the first open city driving game I had ever played.. The missions we're fun, even if I could only get up to the 5th one.

There is also a free run mode and the game has a decent damage model.

I've still got my Millenium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter, they're on a shelf (out of reach) in my sons room.

Who needs a DS3! I had this exact version :D

Mine are in a box in my attic (along with an AT-ST and all my figures) - The gang plank broke first time i used it, the seat for the top swivel gun broke within it's first week.

It's amazing how something so simple could cause so many boys to crowd around a desk.

Nowadays online flash games involving cartoon people being horribly injured cause boys to crowd round a desk...
