Answer, when it's a Honda.

I'm sure other eagle-eyed GTPlanet-ers have noticed this, but it quite surprised me!

For those who don't know... this is the Acura NSX '91 with the race modification applied.

WHY was I not informed that you could RM the NSX?? I really suck at reading lists, I'm going to go do this now.

But yeah, an Acura is still a Honda, I'm guessing that PD based the RM on this real life NSX.

Acura is the American re-branding of Honda.

I knew that... I was just surprised that the Acura badging wasn't preserved across the RM.

I didn't realise there even was an RM-able NSX until I spotted one in a list here at GTPlanet today - it was one of my first purchases tonight :)

It's a pretty fun car to drive too, I can see there being a few WLR competitions in these!

I think Acura is Honda's luxury brand, like Toyota has Lexus and Nissan has Infiniti.

Not quite. I would say they are a step above Honda's position in the market, but a step below Lexus or even Infiniti in that regard. Lexus and Infiniti for the most part I think have dedicated luxury platforms where as Acura essentially use rebadged Honda's with luxury up grades. Believe it or not Americans, up here we get a Acura's version of the Civic.

An Acura Integra is nothing but a Honda Integra in Japan.
A Lexus IS, is nothing but a Toyota Altezza in Japan.
An Infiniti is actually nothing but a Nissan Skyline V35 in Japan.

They are hardly a luxury brand, they are just those companies "luxury" models and most of the world was stupid enough to fall for it. Especially considering many of the Japan counterparts are actually better than the "luxury" ones sold under the other brand name elsewhere.

With different badges, options, engines & price tags.

Acura is honda
Inifiniti is Nissan
Lexus is toyota

About 5 years ago if you went to Japan you could buy all the so called luxury lexus/infiniti cars under their toyota/nissan badges for well under half the price, it's a big scam

the japanese luxury brands seem to be very big in america, but not big anywhere else, anywhere else in the world everyone wants bmw or mercedes, i don't get it

Quite a few of them share platforms
Toyota Camry and Lexus ES
Toyota FJ Cruiser and Lexus GX
Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX

Nissan 350/370 and Infiniti G Series
Nissan 350 and Infiniti M Series
Nissan 370 and Infiniti FX

What do they call it these days? Used to be the Acura EL, didn't it?

Heck, down here in the States, we just started getting the Euro-Accord Wagon, only here we call it the Acura TSX Wagon. (The Accord has the better-looking grille, though)

Except the Acura Integra no longer even exists. It became the RSX, then it became extinct. :( Damned shame, too.

I think th OP was just trying to make a point that the Acura badge changes to Honda when you race mod the Acura NSX.

I don't think they sell Acuras in Japan... aren't they just all Hondas over there? Like the NSX (when it was around.) I don't know if they sell the same TLs and TSXs and stuff over there....

only two cars sold by lexus (cars, not trucks) use standard toyota chassies. the other four (the GS midsize sedan, the IS compact sedan, the LS full size sedan and the CT compact sport hatch) are dedicated luxury platforms, with three of them being RWD.

infiniti, meanwhile, produces exclusively RWD cars (again, cars, not trucks) that, while based on japanese nissans, are exclusively infinitis in america and europe.

acura, meanwhile, has no dedicated chassis. all of it's cars are direct rebodies of standard hondas (the TSX is a euro accord, the TL is a standard accord, etc.)

this is why lexus and infiniti are dedicated luxury brands, like cadillac or BMW, while acura is a semi-luxury brand, like buick and lincoln.

An Acura is not an Acura when it's not... *puts on sunglasses* ...Acurate.

YYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! :sly:

They probably did that so there would be a reason to buy the acura NSX rather then the Honda NSX..
I know there wasnt a reason in Prologue....
