Yeah I'm around. I haven't drifted in GT3 in ages so I haven't been here much. My roommates accidentally ruined my GT3 disc and I'm not keen on buying another, so I don't play very often anymore. Which is a shame, because I've got the itch to this weekend.
Been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to do for a car (or cars) now. The MR2 is getting a rebuilt engine but I'm not sure if I want to keep it. Looking at RX-7s, maybe an RX-8 or S2000, maybe a newer MR2 or even the ubiquitous 240SX or Miata (although those two aren't front runners). It's not an easy decision. So that has preoccupied me a lot lately.

It's nice to see ya around Cuda. I hope you get a new GT3 disc, or get GT4 when it arives (eventually). I would love to have a chance to drift with you. It would be a shame to waste your talent by quitting GT drifting. On the subject of vehicles: I think the RX8 is a fantastic choice, what with the new Rotary engine, the near 50/50 weight distribution, and the lightweight chasis. Add a turbo to it, and you've got something very special....indeed.![]()
Agreed, and furthermore, If you do get an RX7 or RX8, make sure you track down some sort of watercooled wastegate (Apexi makes a good one). This is a must for a Rotary engine. The exhaust gasses can get so hot, they melt the wastegate diaphram. A watercooled wastegate could increase the life of the car quite a bit.Originally posted by pergatory
If it's gonna be an RX-8 I think it's better to wait a while. The Renesis engine is very new and may have flaws that nobody has found yet. It's always best to wait a few years to let them work all the bugs out.
I'm positive. It's very well known in the RX7 community. Imamuras' RX7 has the Apexi watercooled wastegate. However, it is not the only way to get around the exhaust heat problem. Using different materials for the wastegate diaphram, or using a fast heat disipating wastegate of somekind. It's just more efficient to use a watercooled wastegate, albeit expensive.Originally posted by pergatory
Hahaha, are you sure about that? Not even GTR-700 has water-cooled wastegates and I've seen that thing with white-hot headers.
