The Pacific NW would be a good location (and I’m not just saying that because I live here.) It has the only temperate rain forest in the lower 48 on the west coast. Two major mountain chains, the Olympics and the Cascades. Five active volcanos, including the largest, Mt. Rainier at 14,410 ft/4,392 meters. A natural shortgrass prairie in the southeast. The Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, major cities, vast evergreen forests, apple orchards that supply 60% of all apples in the US, the Channeled Scablands in the central part of the state, created by more than 40 catastrophic floods at the end of the last ice age that scoured away almost all topsoil in the region, the Okanogan highlands in the northwest, and major rivers like the Snake and Columbia rivers.
