Which button works best for overtake on ds4?

Depends on how your other buttons are mapped ex. what you use for throttle and brakes. When using DS4 I use L2 and R2 for brake and throttle, so L1 for overtake would also be my choice, but it should be the one you feel most comfortable with or muscle memory can easiest get used to.

I have overtake set to triangle, I use the right stick to navigate MFD and L1 to look back.
But L1 should be fine, if you have the right stick to look around

I map mine as X button. Reserved L1 and L2 for manual shifting.

Same goes to F1 games, where I set my DRS button to X too...

Triangle.
Upshift is on square, so you won't waste it.
And you can reverse just by downshifting with X

Contrary to the post above, normally L1 is the rear-view

I having on triangle as well. But I drive full auto. If you're using motion control and manual maybe mapping it to the left stick is a good option

I figured I wouldn't need the handbrake in the SF so I remapped the circle button. If I ever go rallying again, though very unlikely, I'll just remap it.

Whatever button you pick just make sure you're not compromising your ability to steer and apply the throttle and brake when using it.

I vote triangle as well.

Its the most natural position... I have no use for a handbrake or horn so the triangle is a good boost button espeically when I only use it on straights.

I use L3 as well.

Your thumb is always on the left stick because steering, so if your thumb never leaves that stick and pressing the stick in can serve an important function, it makes total sense to me. I sacrificed my ability to switch between low/high beam because that was useless to me.

It enables you to press it while still having full control over all other buttons and functions, so as to drive consistently and cleanly while engaging DRS (based on L2/R2 for throttle/brake)

Of course everyone is different, so each to their own, but that's my 2 cents.

I use circle (handbrake) as i never use it as a handbrake.

People using triangle?
What about when you are online and spin out/ rammed and need to get reverse quickly?

People using R3?
We're used to watching replays of some DS4 users flashing lights when cornering under pressure now we'll see them applying boost and spinning out lmao?

I use triangle since I don't need it for reversing (MT with x and square)
L1 is for rear view which can be useful sometimes when the mirror is a bit too small too see further back.
R1 is for camera view when I get bored on the long straights or to remind me at the start what car I'm driving.

It’s very awkward holding a button while fighting a wheel.
But if you are fighting with your wheel, why would you want more power and/or less downforce?

I use the Dpad down on my G29.

The 3 main “straights” on Nordschleife all require a fair amount of steering input despite being WOT areas. Take the P1 GTR through there yourself and tell me that’s not a physically awkward experience to hold that DRS button.

An overtake button ??

I never knew ... How does that work?

Can someone please explain?

Also, here's a list of GT Sport cars that support DRS:
  • McLaren P1 GTR
  • Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ 2017
  • Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ (Color Variation) 2017
...and cars that support KERS:
  • Dodge SRT Tomahawk X Vision Gran Turismo
  • Dodge SRT Tomahawk GTS-R Vision Gran Turismo
  • Dodge SRT Tomahawk S Vision Gran Turismo
  • INFINITI CONCEPT Vision Gran Turismo
  • LEXUS LF-LC GT “Vision Gran Turismo”
  • NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo
  • Toyota Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo
Not sure whether this is up-to-date, though.

Hey people, I've read through this thread ... but I still have a basic question ( maybe I missed something though ) :

Do I need a switch or a button, or in other words, do I switch DRS on and off or do I have to hold a button as long as I want to use it ?
And how is it with KERS ?
Button mapping depends on that to a certain degree imo.
