I think it depends on the car. With my F1's I LOVE the outside view. Plus you can actually see over the car. But say you have a PT Cruiser or a Bettle, on both of these cars you can not even se over it! So I think it sort of depends on the car.

Now what is this crap guys? You gotta use the inside. You can feel the car sliding out and you can see everything in front of you. I don't like lookin at the ass of my car, that's what the other drivers are supposed to see.

the 'inside' or 'bumper cam' view i find to be easier, mainly because you point in the same way the car is going, and not float above it.
can really ride the apex and drift well using the view.

Through practice, I can do just as good regardless of views.

Benifits of 1st person view:

Just feels like I'm driving faster

Benifits of 3rd person view:

The terrain looks smoother, and I can enjoy the surrounding graphics better.

Yeah Pako. It seems like you are flying when your inside. You can also hear the rumble of your engine more.

But outside the scenery is nice. I like looking at those cows at the Swiss Alps. MOO!

I dont sight see at all. Just when I goof around at the Swiss Alps Rally level I try and look at the cows in the pasture.

I agree that the inside view SHOULD be more realistic. But in this case, I cop out and use outside most of the time. I think I like outside more because I can place the car more accurately on the track. Using the inside view you don't have enough perhiperal (sp?) vision to get a good feel for exactly where the car is.

Typically, I'm a few seconds faster in outside mode. I do run inside if I want to make a race a little more challenging - but not often. I can feel the slides a little better, but the car placement makes it tough to go REALLY fast, and the consistency especially suffers.

Yeah. I think on important races I do inside, but if its not that important I sightsee.

I've got to agree. The game is beautiful, so when it's not that big of a deal, I go looking at the scenery, which includes my car (:

I have to be close to the action. I chose inside. Why? well because i can always watch the replays after i win a race. :D

Inside is the only way to go. You are closer to the ground and have an unobstructed view forward. The inside view, I find is easier to judge the turns, and easier to complete them in. The only time I ever look outside the car is when Ihave a cool car and I just want to look at it down the straightaway, when I am getting air, or when I am bottoming out so I can look at the sparks.

I use inside on short races and tracks that I don't drive all the time cause I think I can be more exact. In inside mode you can always see exactly what direction the car is going in, but in the outside mode the car turns within the viewing window, so you can kinda get screwed over :D I also change to outside view on straights to check out my pretty car :D

Sometimes I switch to outside when I'm a few laps ahead, just to give the computer a chance to catch up, HA! I suck from outside. It might have been cool if they'd added a really far back view, almost like a chase helicopter, so you could see a lot of the course and sorounding scenery. I think they did that in Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, but the game looks crappy in comparison so I never play it anyway.

 I like that game, but it gets a little old after a while. I like how you can pick all the body parts and stuff

I go for inside because in the outside view the car is too big and gets in the way. If it was one more step out (like GT2) it would be better, but I just love that close, low inside view. It feels faster.

But I also move to outside to check out my car on long straights - hit reverse view and watch it from the front.

Yep, same here :D (Already said that in this thread though) :D

I don't know how you guys control the car with the outside view - it's like driving a radio controlled car! I always use the inside view, if I want to watch the scenery I look at a replay. As to being able to see where you are, I already know where the car is - it's where I pointed it a fraction of a second ago :) I'm interested in where I'm going and what the car is doing.

I fully agree... Inside is the only way to drive...

So totally agree - I always get completely disoriented, because the old brain reacts to the visual attitute of the car which is completely out of proportion to what it's actually doing - so you play army racing - left, right, left, right - and that's just down the straight!

I say inside all the way. When i race outside i find that when i slide or turn i tend to overcorrect and slam into walls.

Yea, same here. I can be on a straight away just zig zagging and it's fine form the inside, but on the outside I can't tell what the hell the car is doing, so if can even get so bad that I spin
