GT2 will always & forever be the best GT of the series, imo. Red Rock Valley & the best incarnation of Midfield Raceways were there, not to mention the amazing variety of cars. :)
 
I personally think that GT4 is the best, then GT2, GT3, GT1 then finally GT5. From my point of view GT5 is not good in the way that they would release an unfinished product and just add things later. It makes it a bit better, but it still does not give good gameplay like the rest of the GT series.
 
GT4 has the most flexability of it's car upgrades(Nos) but has the worst graphics on the PS2. even in 1080p, there are blocks for track edges:yuck:

.....what!!??? When GT4 came out, no other car game matched it for its graphic prowess, just like gt5.
 
I voted GT4.
It's just a massive game, and everything seems pretty polished for a PS2 game. No second rate cars here.

Having said that, GT5 is a very close contender. With 60fps, and online racing. You can't go wrong.
 
i only played GT1 and then GT5
didnt PS2 coz i was a xbox man till ps3 :)
I loved GT1 was a great game i played it from when i was 7-11 now GT5 is just amazing big differece even tho it is missing alot of content and all these rubbish updates, i keep coming back every day to drive my red bull or RUFs around with friends, LOVE it i picked GT5
 
GT5. Driving around the 'Ring in my favourite cars (Ferrari, at last they made it to GT) on sports medium while the sun goes up/down is enough to raise this title miles above the rest.
 
Gran turismo 5 is the best for me. It is lacking some gameplay aspects, but hell it is the best driving ever!!! It is really a pleasure to drive around every car. Gt4 was great too but obviously cannot compete with the power of the new generation consoles.

The PS2 wasn't designed for HD, it simply had the option to be played in HD. If you take any game and increase the resolution from 480 pixels to 1080 pixels, when the game wasn't designed with 1080 pixels, you're going to see huge blocks. If you want it to look better, you need to LOWER the resolution. ie... play it on a regular TV.

I was being sarcastic. I chose to include only the 5 main GT's because the PSP and other variations are just that... variations. My goal wasn't to find out what the best niche game of the series was, it was to illustrate the tone of the players in the community. By adding something like GT5P, it would just take votes away from one of the main categories.

It would be like saying... what's your favorite car manufacturer?

Makes no sense.
 
GT5 by miles and miles. GT1, 2, and 3 are pretty good too. GT4 physics just fell short.
