Which is better? R34 or RS200?

I'm only asking because most of the people here are anime nerds and are automatically biased towards older S13's and the R32 because they like to pretend they are anime characters.

I would like to hear what the ideal drifting car is from someone who has some REAL drifting experience.

j/k and plus i hardely use a r32 mostley i just use a r33 r34 and a s14 fastback and a gc8 and a celica (st205 something like that )

A gt4... i think that is the 4wd drive car i will be using in my new game... thanks i think that has to be the lowest powered 4wd car besides the mira... ad thus my car for my lets see what happens when we use three relatively low powered cars and restart gt3. at the moment i only have a trueno and i am finishing up the amature american race with the trueno ( the second series in am). won everything that the trueno can compete in beginner except the last series... need a bit more tuning perfection to tackle that one.

Anyways street fighter i have a question for you. Is there really a difference pretending to be an anime car and pretending to own the car you are driving in a video game...

4wd gives you much better initial acceleration at least becuase more power can be transmitted to the ground without loosing traction. transmitting power to the ground and not loosing traction is the entire point of 4wd.

AWD: able to produce awesome angles, but opposite locking causes you to straighten your car and thus shortening your drifts.

I prefer RWD, because I think opposite lock drifts visually looks cooler.

Since this thread has been a popular discussion, I had to try drifting the R34 for a bit before providing better feedback.

After a 1 hour session of drifting with the R34:

The R34 is an awesome car!!!!!!! I never really gave it a chance because it was AWD, but after some practice, the car is unbelieviable!!!!

I can consistently drift corners and many times are perpendicular, and not that I couldn't with a RWD (not consistently 90 degree with RWDs), but getting these 90 degree angles are really fun!!!! Plus the car looks awesome...it represents Japanese Automotive dominance.

If you're comfortable with the R34, I'd say, good choice!
However, there will be those out there that will think the R34 is a "crutch" and will think its an unfair advantage.

My thoughts about it is, its all fair, it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Deep angles and big smoke go for AWD, opposite locks from start to end of drifts go for RWD. Just be versitile so that you can be competitve, if thats what you want.

But that's just it.
If you use crappy tyres, you can power over and get all tyres spinning because the RB26DETT generates so much torque at low rpms.

This makes for smooth, high angle, high speed, four wheel drifts where the sound the smokeing tyres make is louder than the engine, due to not-so high rpm torque.

Another cool thing about AWD cars, is that you can drift ANY line, whereas FR cars have an 'ideal' line to get maximum angle and length to the drift it's self. But seeing an AWD car drift the 'ideal' line that FR's have to keep on, getting as close to the outside and inside lines as possible and doing it smoother than any FR ever could, I think would be the ultimate display of skill.

There is some truth to that. :)
AWD can get as close to the outside or inside lines of corners.
Here I made this quick video because you got me to notice how awesome the R34 is.

Weak.
The GTR destroys when it's bone stock.
All it needs is drivetrain mods, tunable suspension and maybe weight removing mods.

I still haven't bothered to do any of those.

?? Any car tuned is better than bone stock. Bone stock is pretty boring. The mods you list would counter your statement, your car wouldn't be bone stock. :) lol

Those mods are more for control and tuning enjoyment, not so much as power boosts.

That's one thing I noticed about all wheel drive...
You can dramatically control the angle of the car with all the wheels spinning, resulting in great potential to control the angle of the turn during the drift.

That makes for smoother entry.
No wavering from side to side or dropping the tyres into the dirty wirty.

And you're right, NK4E. The R34 does have limits.
When those limits are exceed, you're angle is like 90 degrees or more, full lock, sliding in the direction the side of the car is pointing.
With proper braking control, you can prevent the car from spinning and/or hitting the wall.

Yeah, I started with that insanely underpowered S13 then moved up to the stock Altezza for a while. Played around with the RX-7, upgraded my Altezza with some suspension, drivetrain mods, and a couple power mods so now it's like 220 hp or so.

After upgrading, I didn't use anything else. Just mastered the Altezza and tuned the settings as I figured out what settings did what to the drift.

Now that I've determined how great a machine the R34 really is, it might actually have encouraged me to purchase a digital camera and make some videos.

:D
