I collect 1:43, mainly because you can fit more of them into a room, and there seems to be more variety than 1:18.

You can choose more than one scale.

I started collecting the small 1/64ish cars last year. I only collect cars made by a company called Johnny Lightning, as I feel they are the most realistic for a reasonable price.($3-4 bucks a piece) I have around 300+ right now, always growing though. I started buying them partly due to the fact that the company's headquarters is only a block away from my home. You can check out some pics at their website: http://www.playingmantis.com/jl/index.php

I don't collect the bigger scales because they are too big, and I build 1/24 scale plastic models so they end up looking better than the metal ones anyway:)

Yes they do look better don't they. I don't get collcting die-cast though. Do all you collectors out there just sit and look at them for ages or am I missing something?

Well I'm planning on getting some wall-mount mirror backed display cases that hold 108 little guys each, and some other cases for my plastic 1/24 models. Eventually, I plan on having 9 cases for the 1/64 so that makes about 1000 cars. I suppose all you do is look at them but you just look at plastic models too when you're done. I guess I'm just a big car nerd.:dopey: I don't buy the regular Hot Wheels or Matchbox diecast as they are totally lame.

Wouldn't you rather have sports cars around the house rather that some stupid ceramic knick-knacks that your wife bought:lol: My wife's fun though, she helps me find them. Every time she goes to the store she checks the toy dept for the new releases I'm looking for:tup:

Well with the plastic ones, you spend a while building them, plus they turn out better. So I don't know why more people don't get into it. Even though I suppose it does take a while to make just one.

Yes, I totally agree with you there. But being a kid still and not having a wife or a house, my parents take control of whats on show in the house. :guilty:

Good and bad

Bad: my wife doesn't like my models

Very good: she completely hates knick-knacks

Guess I break even, which isn't so bad.
