The Toyoya GT-ONE Race Car or the Nisssan R390 GT1 Race Car '98 ??

I have enough for one in the OCD and am generally looking for one good at cornering so I can do the seasonals. I have a lot of lvl23 race cars but not the 2J so am looking for something to help until i can get the 2j

Which is generally considered better?

Thanks :)

In my opinion the GT-ONE is the better car.

thanks thats what i've been hearing. is it more stable would you say?
some of these level 23 cars have very sensitive steering (except the insanely rigid 787B)

i generally struggle with lightweight or unstable cars like Elise, X2010, Furai ....

i've driven the nissan before a long time ago and from what i remember it was a good car but i keep hearing that the best 'dream car' for these seasonals are the 2J and the Toyota 7 and some ppl also say the GT-ONE.

The Toyota 7 is ok but too unstable for me to win over 5 laps - in my experience theres usually a monster car for each event which just owns, but the ones i have atm i find hard to keep on the track lol :)

does anyone know when the ocd next refreshes?

im siding with the Toyota atm but im also wondering how often the 2J appears in the UCD (i havent seen it & its the only one im still after)

then again the Nissan might work if i upped the max speed maybe. it seems very low to the ground and wide enough to look stable and i think i recall it being good when i had it last year but it may have been one of the other nissan race cars from then ('89, '92 & '98)

The OCD refreshes every fortnight, on a Thursday, around 03:00 AM GMT. 👍

The next update should come on the 12th of January.

My avatar says it all :)

Who else remembers that in GT3 the Nissan R390 was the fastest sports car in the game !? :D

2 completely different class of car. The Toyota is a full LMP1 machine and the nissan a GT1 class car. The Toyota will outclass the Nissan on most courses especially Le-sarthe, with equal drivers.

The best way to get a 2J is to trade for a 1970 ticket. Then grind the ticket with a back up save until you get the 2J. It shouldn't take too long, as there are only 12 cars in GT5 that can be acquired from a 1970 ticket. Hope this helps!

I have a great tune for the TS-020 that will make it faster and more stable.
No need to buy any parts, just make these adjustments:

Aero - 58 / 85
Engine power @ 96.4% = 700 PP

Set max speed 270, then:
Final 2.800

1. 3.400
2. 2.400
3. 1.850
4. 1.450
5. 1.150
6. 0.950

Differential: 9 / 9 / 11

Suspension:
Height: -5 / -20
Springs: 14.8 / 14.8
Damper ext: 5 / 7
Damper comp: 5 / 7
ARB: 3 / 6

Camber: 2.5 / 1.0
Toe: 0.00 / 0.00

Brakes: 4 / 6

The gears are long enough for most tracks. Make adjustments to the final ratio on slow tracks.

Good luck

Personally, I find the R390GT1 to be easier to drive, but the GT-One is faster if you're dedicated to practice.

i think im probably going to go with the Toyota cus of its pwer-to-weight ratio

hopefully i can use it to win back some more scratch in the seasonals so ill have cash when the ocd refreshes.

thanks for help guys.

i think Mark may be right - the Nissan is more stable because its not a proper race car like the Toyota 7. Its got more horsepower but it weighs a tonne. Im sure Id prefer the Nissan but feel I may just have to get the Toyota GT-=ONE - cus i don't dupe this may be my only shot to get one.

Thanks all :)

Technically, the GT-One is, as the name would suggest, a GT1 car. That was how it was in '98 when it was launched, but the version in this game came about following the release of the LMGTP class. But yes, the GT-One is miles faster than the R390 no matter what.

Thats GT-One not GT1 the toyota never has been GT1 class, It started life in its infancy in the early 90s model number Toyota TS010 and was a full blown Group C later in the late 90s the Toyota GT-One TS020 evolved as an LMP. Totally different beast to the GT class.

As far as I remember, during the end of 1990 rules allowed manufacters to build extreme GT race cars which resembled prototypes in the shapes thanks to some "holes" in these rules. During the 24 hours of le mans of 1998, many manufacters presented very extreme GT1 cars, such as Toyota GT-One TS020, Nissan R390 GT1, Porsche 911 GT-One EVO and Mercedes Benz CLK GTR, all of them very far from the real concept of GT1.

But the Toyota was the last one to join the party, in fact it has almost nothing of a GT1 car.
A long tail and some other adjustments were added to the Mclaren F1 GTR to improve downforce, but the car was still based on the old 95' GT model, in fact it was no more competitive. The Mercedes was built under FIA GT rules so it couldn't be too much similar to a prototype. The Nissan was based on the 97' model, just more reliable and with better downforce. The Porsche changed almost everything in his old 911 to reach better performances. The last remaining, the Toyota, simply built a totally new car, the GT-one, which was extreme in every way.

In 1999 rules changed again, GT1 class changed into GTS and only allowed "true" GT cars to joining, and all previous GT1 cars moved towards new LM Prototype class. This allowed manufacters to improve their cars even more than before. In this year, and only in this one, the Gt-One ran under LMP rules. Nissan and Mercedes were forced to present brand new cars.

Except if you look on the entry list for the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans you'll see the GT-One was entered into the GT1 class. But at that time, being one of the more technologically advanced GTs, it could keep up with the LMPs. Ever seen the road version of it? That's how it got in as a result. The TS010 is completely different time period and rule period and is rather irrelevant.

I say GT-One because to me it seems to have better downforce and less tire wear than the R390. I also like the GT-One body design better than the R390.

when I saw the beggining of this thread I thought it was GT-One VS R92 but with the R390 Race car

That's a joke , like Mclaren F1 VS veyron

since i started the thread i've now got both lol and i prefer the toyota for sure but i actually prefer the look of the nissan i think

:)
