Who cares about sim tires!

Real drift cars have excellent grip and work well as grip or drift, they have grippy tires so that the car is controlable, sims aren't grippy at all and if anything simulate worn down tires. No real car will break traction under the circumstances that you can with sims. So if you can drift with sims well great, battle stage and all his cronies i know you're good so don't have a rant at me but surely drifting with high grip tires is both more challenging and realistic. Anyway i prefer it, you have more control over the drift and technique is essential whereas anyone can equip sims and turn :/

cheers

You guys obviously don't get why sim's where put in the game and you obvisouly don't know how a car really handles in real life when drifting unless you have drifted one. BTW: THis has been dicussed many times, So can we get a mod to close this an have swift go search for the thread where we dicussed all of this.

EDIT: aslo do you know the reason most of the drifters use sim's? its because they allow us to do alot more then if we had some medium tires on with loads of hp where you have to floor it and keep it floored to lose grip, You can't even get lots of angle without regaining grip , and most of your drifts will be fast paced with hardly any angle. Sims allow more room for you to drift your car and more possiblities of drifting styles.

Damn right I agree with Ryen49

**** i've said it so much

DO YOU ****ING FLOOR YOUR CAR IN REAL LIFE ALL THE TIME?

because if you think sims are too easy to break traction you have no idea how to drive, go out, go to a dealership, get behind the wheel of one of these cars, then drive it, and see how it performs, the go home, get GT3, get a stock car with sim tyres, oh **** it performs the same, with ****ed up understeer at high speed or oversteer, and wheelspin up the ying yang.

Jeebus, I think with all the detail polyphony digital went into making this game they would at least call tyres that simulated real life, sim tyres!

I like sim tires. They force you to drive more smoothly (like a real car!). You know when you butcher a corner instantaneously.

I think they're fun, but I'm a touch obsessive compulsive. :D

In my opinion, in this forums there aren't very guys doing speed drift, if someone try to do speed drift, they will understand why sims tyres are crap. To do speed drift, we need good tyres like soft tyres.

but drifting isnt about speed, It was never intended to be used to go fast. Of course its pretty cool when you do fast drifts but this isn't what we are talking about.

Why is everyone so fast to say "do a search!" maybe I did a search. Maybe there are new people on the forums that would like to talk about it. Maybe when I did a search I didn't see anything that I addressed in my original post.

Or maybe I'm just a dumb noob that should just shut up, not ever post anything and just do searches all day. Yeah, that's sounds like more fun then trying to be even remotely original.

Ok, that was really sarcastic. But seriously, If somethings been discussed and then a new post is put up 6-7 months later, obviously(at the rate these forums grow) there will be many members that haven't discussed it yet. Anway, before everyone yells at someone for posting, why don't YOU do a search and see how old the most recent post on the subject was.

I hope you're not talking about 900hp cars, drifting at 300km/h, because that's the only time you'd use something other than sims for drifting.
This game supposed to be a simulator, last time I checked, I haven't seen any drifters with this much power going that fast.

I am not talking about cars with 900 hp doing drift at 300 km/h, that is to much, I am talking drift like the first curve at midfield raceway at 130 or 140 km/h and about the sims tyres, which is crap for speed drift because they don't have grip. For exhibition drift is good, but I don't like him.

About sherons vid, I already saw it 2 month ago, and I know it has speed drift, in my opinion, it is a good vid. It was good to see that there is speed drifters in this forum. :)

Well sims are for the beginners.

haha. what tires would be for experts?

Real drift cars have excellent grip and work well as grip or drift, they have grippy tires so that the car is controlable, sims aren't grippy at all and if anything simulate worn down tires.

why would real drift cars have excellent grip. the purpose of drifting is to break the traction between the tires and the surface. i dont think drifters would want to have more traction when they are trying to break it.

drifting with high grip tires is both more challenging and realistic.

challenging, yes. realistic, no.

Anyway i prefer it, you have more control over the drift and technique is essential whereas anyone can equip sims and turn

people choose to drift "not because [it is] easy, but because [it is] hard" (JFK). how can it be fun if you are doing it the easy way?

but drifting isnt about speed, It was never intended to be used to go fast.

very true.

3000GT + 1000HP + T8 front/T1 rear = ??? Good showy drifting for all ages and skill levels. I've tried drifting on Sims and there's just no controll, maybe if I had a lil' trueno or something, but I don't want to get too frusturated so I stick with easy stuff.

Actually, most professional drifters do use softter tires. The traction loss is smoother, and more predictable......

This doesn't transfer very well to the GT world, unfortunately......

;)

If you think drifting with sim's is easy, Then your wrong, Yeah it may be easy to start the drift but holding it is the hardest out of all the tires but it pays off. :) :)

let me answer the topic:

every drifter cares, somehow or someway that drifter is going to try sims and thinks its easy after all that practice with the other tires like the T7 or T8

MdnIte
hahahaha is he talking about the sim tires or some man?

Neither....

He's talking about "Sim Man".... Combatant of evil..... and an accurate human representation, to boot.....

;)

Does it really matter what tires other ppl use? i I think its a waste of time arguing about whats better, thats just me tho lol
As long as you're drifting you're cool with me

peace :dopey:

hmmm did anyone read this message

jus a short question peepz, when gt4 drifting comp starts will you's be using sims
or "other Tyres"

It depends on how the tire system is implemented, in GT4.... They may have revamped the tire setup... There may be 5 different levels of Sim tire..... Who knows at this point..?...

i like i like they better feel real.... and who knows... they might even try to simulate brand name tyres

I think nightkids4ever has a valid point I started off with soft tires and did find sim tires to break traction easily but thats not the point is it? the point is how well you can hold the drift breaking tracton is the easy part. I feel as though I've become a much better drifter since I started to use sim tires but still a long way to go!

ok here, get a 2000cc s13, add 2 way lsd, racing clutch and flywheel..and sims....try breaking that loose....with stock suspension and stock everything else...i have a vid coming up...once i get to toyotadrifters house....its not so easy to break loose....or keep sliding...try it out..i dont even know if what i just said is on topic but o wells...
