I'm using this as an example race cars don't use comfort tires ii think that is more unrealistic than race tires on a street car...

At least it's enjoyable, full of challenges and thrilling to drive than race tires on street car. You should join my room if you see it online, feel free to use any car:dopey:

Ok if I find you ill try my new au ceremo supra just bought 👍 comfort soft rear comfort hard front :dopey:

Yeah, because spinning your tires for 10 minutes everytime you accelerate is fun.

You know there's other ways to accelerate than just mash the pedal to the floor.

We're talking about a RACE car, on COMFORT tires. If you would go try that right now, you could look at the pedal and spin the tires.

He was sliding everywhere and spinning his tires half the video, just further proving my point.

Why is it unrealistic to have racing tires on a road car? If I want to go on a closed circuit and have chance to put me some slick/semi-slicks on my car I am certainly going to do it!

O-K-8!, you make me blush! lol

I've come across a few of your videos with the "close finish" on the Ring being one of them. Your YouTube name looked familiar, then I remembered you posted on GTP...when I saw you post on GTP.

Very true, but I think it's from the point of view of a purist. Like with how some people only drive using certain aids for cars that have it and no aids, including ABS, for cars that shouldn't have them. I find it unrealistic to use them on road cars, because I mostly use normal cars and sort of rarely use race cars. I prefer comfort tires on most road cars, not the F40, and it ends up being more fun for me than when I used to only mainly using Racing Tires which wasn't my fault :). I started out with Racing Tires in previous GT's and have just started using normal tires at the start of GT5 (practiced with normal tires in GT4 right before GT5 released) due to the increased realism of the gameplay.

Your opinion was that it wasn't fun. Someone had the balls to do it in a full-on race car, and then, went on to upload that video to YouTube a while back. For more than a few months now, I've focused on drifting so this seems like it could be a bit fun not for drifting purposes and not with an F40.

My opinion was that it would be be hard to control and the tires would spin alot. Which is what the video proved to me.

Use comforts on race cars for "ice" effect.

Set lobby up last night entitled "Supercar Showdown"
660pp no aids except abs
Racing Hard tyre limit
Slipstream weak
Penalty weak
Grip Real
Tyre deg on

It was road car only and it was very competitive. Some people were asking for Racing Softs and some people tried to get in race with race cars but NOBODY WHAT SO EVER asked For comfort or sports anything!!!

I set this thread up to try and promote this way of using tuned/upgraded Road cars as opposed to the many lobbies i see with racing softs and tyre deg off.
Why i get all comments opposing me i really don't know other than people are very sad, lonely and feel the need to interfere where their not wanted :odd:

Anybody who likes these settings and wants to race online add me :)

Damn, I'm never around when you host. A couple weeks ago we had great comfort medium rooms up with a guy called Pak. I'll add you next time I play so maybe I'll have a better chance of spotting your rooms.

Umm the video kind of proved that it wasn't that unrealistic? I thought!
I see it this way, everybody should, for practice, handicap himself a bit by using comforts. Just to get a sense of how the car reacts in certain situations. Then go on with sports... What I don't like are those who only know how to use one type of tire, so when they enter a room with other restrictions that they are not used to, they will be smothered. But well, its there own fault right?

One should be able to use any tire, with that stops any moaning about the tire wear other people prefer.
Because online, host is boss! You either take it as it is or leave! Theres so many idiots entering your room and think they can command you, the host. Its just stupid, but it happenes when people stick to one type of tire.
The video has a car with semi slicks I'd say in GT5 that would be similar to sports soft or in between SS and RH

Slip Stream is another thing that bothers me. Its unrealistic even on 'weak', how on earth are they not capable on fixing it? Give us a weaker than weak step, PD should send someone to Germany and let him drive nothing but Autobahn for a week, to get a feeling for real slip stream.

Racing tyres of any kind on a road car is unrealistic.

But then again it's a tuned road car.

It's quiet unrealistic to think of someone who replaces original parts with a racing exhaust or a racing gear box, lowers the weight of a car by 200-300kg and then uses comfort tyres to race on a racetrack. Sounds pretty stupid to me.

I handle it like this:

  • When I drive a road car at stock or with slight tuning, I use the default tyres and play with default settings for traction control and ABS.
  • When I drive a heavily tuned road car, I use hard racing tyres and deactivate traction control and ABS.

Racing tyres combined with active ABS is no fun imho and I just don't get it why so many are using ABS even with race cars. If you need ABS in a race car either your car settings are rubbish (wrong brake balance, wrong settings for differential) or you're style of driving is completely wrong (no motor braking, full braking in every corner,...). Or both, of course.

I like tuning road cars to match their Race counterparts (weight and power) and then stick RH tyres on it.
