Although they are very close competitors. I think Audi's 4th Le Mans win in a row was stolen by the Bentleys.

Dont worry I'm having the same problems. Probably and most likely he got so screwed up links, because we aren't seing jack. :grumpy:

just copy and paste the links... good pick I think I've seen that site before? 👍

BodyBuilder, you cool with this exercise? Alright, let's work on those abs with this reply.

I should have a link in my signature that will link you to "Racing Sports Cars" photo site so you can see the Bentley in question. Let me ask you, Bodybuilder. Do those Bentleys really turn you on? The EXP GT that won Le Mans in 2003 was such a sexy car. Or as some people on here would say, "sex on wheels." Of course, this is MY definition of it with a car like this. Nice car, right? British Racing Green, plenty of horsepower, and look beautiful from almost any angle. That Bentley GTP racer looks totally different from cars' you'd mostly see from Bentley. Usually rich people and rap stars can afford Bentleys, and they are basically heavy cars with LOTS of luxury. Almost as if you're in a first-class hotel in a car. But you gaze the Bentley racer, you'll notice that it is a lovely machine. It is fast and dominant. I think it got on the podium in its inaugural year.

Builder, wouldn't you want to race this car around New York against the Toyota GT-One, McLaren F1 GTR, and such? I know I would. For the most part, no confirmation of Bentley was made (unless The359's car list can verify Bentley's place in line to be in GT4). But you'll have to include the machine to make Bentley a viable contender. I would love to race it GT style around GT4. But if you want it to be in, pray for it.

Exercise over, BodyBuilder. And welcome to GTPlanet.

here are another (good) ones!! :)
i had to cut some of them cuz they were too big!!
...puhh!!that was pretty much work!!
hope u like them!

Nice.... good big pics and a + for the filenames 👍

thanx!...i really worked hard for it...:)
but i still think the speed 8 copied trhe (Toyota) GT-One´s design(it´s perhaps because the toyota had a nearly perfect design and construction!)

McLaren F1GTR
Hey...READ MY ENTIRE POST!

alright.....

McLaren F1GTR
I'm sure the Audi R8 would have to been included. Then they could race.

I guess that with "they" you mean the Bentley and the R8, so they could race.....
Isn't that the point of a racing game?

Just caught the Jaguar episode of Victory By Design. That XJ13 is sweet! :( won't ever here those kind of engine sounds ever again by a modern car. I was pissed though because they didn't show the EXP Speed 8. :irked:

...i hope the 2002 bentley speed 8 will be in GT4 :dopey: (so u could compare it with the "LAST WORKS-AUDI FROM 2002!"...but i would never mind having that 2003 car in GT4,too!!! :)

Maybe they didn't show the EXP Speed 8 because its a Bentley not a Jaguar. :)

BTW, a version of the Jaguar V12 used in the XJ13 powers the Lister Storm GTS car.

Seen the 2003 model up close at Sebring.

Its a nice car - with a nice sound. O-Boy did it amaze me.

Here is the history lesson:

1999 - Audi enters LeMans with two seperate types of cars, the R8R and the R8C.

R8R:
Audi-SP12.jpg

Audi-SP14.jpg

R8C:
Audir8c-1.jpg

Audir8c-4.jpg

As you can notice, these cars look completely different, even ignoring that one has a roof and one does not. Different designs to fenders, headlights, wings, intakes, vents, everything.

2000 - Audi selects the R8R as the superior car and evolves it into the R8, the R8C is taken back to be completely reworked.

R8:
Audi-GC3.jpg

As you can see, a natural evolution of the R8R, same turbo intakes, similar fenders, same exit ducts for front wheels, similar rear wing.

2001 - Audi continues to evolve the R8 while at the same time the R8C is brought back from its complete revamping as the new Bentley EXP Speed 8

EXP Speed 8:
Bentley-BC4.jpg

A natural evolution of the R8C, the EXP Speed 8 has similar front fenders and headlights, the long pointy nose is drawn out, the rear wing is similar, everything.

2003 - Audi continues to slowly evolve the proven R8, requiring no major revamping, but the new Bentley Speed 8 is revolutionized to bring it up to par with the R8.

Speed 8:
Bentley-BC27.jpg

As you can see, most of the changes on the Speed 8 over the older EXP Speed 8 are to the area between the front wheels where the front plane is lowered even more and the winglets are added to hold suspension pieces, but the nose seen on the R8C and EXP Speed 8 is still prominant in the design. The rear wing is indeed changed to a style similar to that of the R8, but I should point out that Pescarolo was using this layout as well.

So, after 4 years the Audi R8 and Bentley Speed 8 evolved from the Audi R8R and R8C. Both the R8R and R8C were different cars to begin with, and as they both evolved into the modern counterparts, they were seperated even more.

So in the end, the Audi R8 and Bentley Speed 8 have practically NOTHING in common save for the engine block used by the both of them (and even then, the specifics of the engines are completely different).

And for those of you who annoyingly claim the Bentley EXP Speed 8/Speed 8 is a rip off of the Toyota GT-One, please bear in mind that the Toyota GT-One was introduced in 1998 and the Audi R8C was shown to the public (but not raced) shortly after LeMans in 1998, meaning that it would be impossible for the Audi engineers to have seen the Toyota GT-One prior to them designing the R8C from scratch.

And if the Toyota GT-One were perfect, it would have won. If you want perfect, look no further then the Audi R8.

i think the GT-One was the most aerodynamically OPTIMIZED CAR(JUST LOOK AT THE SPEED AT LM--->351KM/H!!!!!BENTLEY JUST REACHES ABOUT 335!!! and the lap times at LM GT-One 3:29 and bentley 3:31!!!)

just read this about the GT-One: 👍 :dopey: :sly:
"""The Toyota GT-One was revolutionary for its new interpretation of the rules and interesting execution of design details. Making little pretenses of being a 'GT' car, it clearly was a pure bred prototype and subsequently the GT1 class became LMGTP. The GT-One certainly surprised but ultimately it never won a race during its short career. Regardless of its lack of a winning record, to this day, the GT-One embodies certain design details that put the car in a class of its own.

While not the first contemporary LMP/LMGTP to have a front diffuser, the GT-One's was certainly the most aggressive in its design and packaging."""

so don´t call this car(i love) in A-N-Y W-A-Y a bad car because it was good 👍 (it won in its own class at least and that tough toyota had very very much PROBLEMS!!!) :grumpy:

On the issue of the engines I believe I remember reading that they were the exact same layout, the only difference was that the Bentley's was .2L smaller because of the roof.

Although Audi is dominating, after Bentley defeated Audi's 4th Le mans win a row, causing Audi to change their spoiler. After doing so, Bentley found it helped too.

It could just have been running less wing to get a higher top speed.

The main difference was that there was a sequence of corners added after the dunlop bridge that the GT-One didn't have to take. The GT-One got a straight run down to the esses while the Bentley was negotiating bends.

And you really must get your caps lock fixed.

EDIT: Where did you get those lap times from?

I get
Fastest lap was set during the 1999 race by Ukyo Katayama in the no.3 Toyota GT-One with a time of 3:35.032

The Bentley got 3'35.529 during the 2003 race. Only 0.5 slower on a longer track.

...i rad it on the toyota motorsportpage some months ago but there are only pics of the races now no lap times or top spedds any more, sorry!!
...in that way i can´t give u any hint(S) but i really read it on this page but search on ur own:
http://www.tte.de/motorsport-complete.html
i don´t think that u´ll find ANY data of Le Mans!!
...wait wait wait!!"!!!
look here u silly!!!
here is it the 3.29 time i said u!!! :sly: 👍
http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Le_Mans-1999-06-13-photo.html
look the GT-One #1 drove it and had to end the race after 90 laps (i think because of this "SUPER-HIGH-SPEED" like in a sprint race!)

...and the toyota didn´t ran with less wing (it produced the same downforce as other GT1 cars!!!)ur bentley just have two vertical pieces of carbon more than the GT-One(i mean the two ones in the inner part of the wing)

so u can be that perfect but it doesn´t help u when u don´t have luck!!!

They raced the car two years in a row, if it was so perfect, it should have at least won once. Audi has won it 4 out of the 6 years they were there, and THEY have a perfect car.

...and why was the bentley design from 2001 and 2002 soooooooo similar to the design of TH TOYOTA GT-One,he,he??

Similar aerodynamics. Why do almost ALL LMP cars look the same? Because thats the way you make an LMP look if you want to be the least bit competitive. And if you can't figure from what I posted earlier that the Bentley is an evolution of the Audi R8C, then you're ignorant.

i think the GT-One was the most aerodynamically OPTIMIZED CAR(JUST LOOK AT THE SPEED AT LM--->351KM/H!!!!!BENTLEY JUST REACHES ABOUT 335!!! and the lap times at LM GT-One 3:29 and bentley 3:31!!!)

Different tires, different weight requirements, different aero rules, AND a different track since the new curves after the Dunlop bridge were added after the Toyota GT-One's run in 1999 and before the Bentley's run in 2001, this making the circuit longer.

just read this about the GT-One: 👍 :dopey: :sly:

It won in a class, in which as you just quoted, it was literally "cheating" and thus caused the demise of the GT1 class. And yes the Toyota GT-One was revolutionary, but the Audi R8 is far more revolutionary for LMP standards. Yes, the Toyota GT-One was impressive, but it is NOT the greatest car ever, nor does it have the records to back it up that the Audi and Bentley certainly do have.

As for the Audi engine vs the Bentley engine, in 2001 the Bentley ran with the same 3.6L Twin Turbo V8 that the Audi R8 used, but in 2002 and 2003 the Bentley had it bored out to a 4.0L Twin Turbo V8.

I don't think either were the greastest car, although both are stunning. One of the reasons the audi, and maybe even the Benley, was so good was that it was designed to allow repair to be made extremely quickly. They were able to clamshell the front and rear of the car and replace just about anything immediatly. I was watching ALMS recently and they announcer mentioned that they are now not allowed to make repairs the same way they used to. Right now the audi's dominate because they have no competition.

The ACO banned the replacement of gearboxes during a race, the teams must instead repair the gearbox internally. In other words, the gear box housing has to stay on the car, and Audi can no longer swap out the entire unit. And yes, the Audi wins because it had no competition, but also remember that it also set the distance record this year.

I was reading an interview in a british magazine with one of the speed 8 drivers Guy Smith, he said that one of the engines was destroyed, they were slowly parading it in paris and it couldn't get enough air and burned up completely. I wanted to cry :(
