Was great fun for me in gt3 👍

Don't be surprised when this thread is moved though, it's all easy.

Turn off the BMG, turn up the volume, go to the 'Ring.
Awesome.

Edit: 900 Yay.

Shouldn't this go in the auto subforum? But yes, the 787B is a pretty nice car. Wasn't it the last car to use a Wankel at Le Mans? Green and orange does look pretty nice. Maybe I should boot up GT3 again and have a go in this great sounding car.

High five, pound it out, and a fist bomb to that.👍

 Aww Yeah

The Wankel was banned from Le Mans after 1991. They had rotarys there before but were not nearly as successful. There is nothing that can compare to the sound of the 4-Rotor revving up.

3 power cycles for every revolution, =.66 stroke, 3X4=12per rev.
12 X 9000 = 108000 /60 =1800 power cycles per second.
That is why awesome.

Edit: Glad that nobody caught that mistake.

Wow, that sounds great! The crackling under acceleration, the loud growl, that is awesome. Roar. Among the best?

Nice calculation. It goes up to 9800 rpm though...

What a vehicle, what a sound. A legend. And Mazda spent some good money to rebuilt it as new and gave it to Herbert (who was one of the 3 who won LeMans24H in 1991 in 787B) to drive around the same track in las years pre-race exhibitions.

Love it, one of my fav of the group C cars. Though from what ive read it was nowhere near as fast as anything else in the '91 lemans race. It won by reliability. Which is ironic with the bad rep rotaries have for being unreliable, when in fact its just bad owners.

Bye ya is right, surely the question should be 'who doesn't like it?' In which case it'd be very few people..
One of my favourite race cars full stop. The thunderous whine is just glorious.

I whole-hwarted agree m8...👍

And to add on your words, 787B as anyone can see in GT5 was over 100-200HP (Race-Qualifying settings) down from C11 and Jag and 905. But it had lower fuel consumption and tire wear because of that.

I really hope that with the future ACO 2014 regs, Mazda brings back rotary power to top flight sports car racing.

As the trylobite in your avatar picture. Nice job youve got...

I remember when I first learned about the car, someone said what surprised everyone in the race was how "quiet it was".
Must've been a sarcastic joke.

Shun the nonbeliever!
Shuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnna.

So what I am a heretic what ya gonna do :D

It was a bad car that ended up winning.

No such thing as a bad car that wins. It could be the worst car of all time but as soon as it wins it becomes amazingly good automatically. :)

Yeah. Hat was their year. Sadly, they never won anything else. It got really bad when they used the XJR-14 chassis.
