It may not have been bad but it certainly wasnt fast compared to its competition which is why Mazda knew they needed to make sure it was super reliable and as the old saying goes - to finish first, first you must finish ;)

Why?

Sure, it didn't have the pace of it's rivals, but it was the reliability itself that secured it's victory.

I think what he meant was that in terms of flat out pace, it was lacking compared to it's rivals of the day. It won due to reliability. Wouldn't call it a bad car, but it didn't have the pace to fight with the leaders.

Yes exactly.

But isn't reliability the key in a 24 hour race? It doesn't matter if your the fastest car, if you can't finish the race.

It's both. And if you look at the records of their other races, they weren't very reliable, fast, or just had bad luck. It's good they won Le Mans. They needed I badly.

They improved reliability quite a bit by lowering the max RPM.
I just say a new Mazda commercial today, first thing that popped up was the 787B for about half a second, then a 110S on banking.

The car shape is nice

Car sound is good

The Livery is a little bit ... Hideola. Looks like a LeMans edition Golf sweater.

It does but gt5 could improve it!!!!

There is no possible way that any simulator could give you the feeling of that car, when Forza recorded the sound, (take note Poly) they had to get special equipiment because the engine was so loud that it would've damaged the normal gear.
I find that the orange/green compliment each other quite nicely, they could have done better but I still like it the way that it is.

They both are, Forza just has better sounds.
You have to use a PC for an actual simulator.

Not exactly. It would have simply distorted the incoming signal if it was too loud, not damaged the equipment, and the car can't possibly be louder than alcohol funny cars which are recorded all the time by 'standard' TV cameras and mic setups. If the desire was close-proximity recording, then a simple adjustment to the signal input could have taken care of the clipping. DC offset can be easily implemented to avert this unwanted effect. :)

I know I'm no mod, but let's not make this into another Forza vs GT thread fellas.

The 787B needs more punch to it. In the YouTube vids at least, you knew that a 787B was heading your way. The downshifts need to sound more violent.

The gear shifts for the group c cars sound way too modern in general.

I know this is the motorsport section but a lot of the race cars just dont sound brutal enough in GT5 especially the Group C racers

Turn up the volume lound enough that you have to wear earplugs. 👍
A bit more realistic that way.

Dude gt5 is " The real driving simulator"
Froza is a arcade game but NOT gt5

I'm not all that bothered about the 787B, I rather like the sound of the rotary engine but no more so than other cars of that period. It's not the best looking from that time either in my opinion.
